That is what is so hard with these sicknesses. Everybody really has to find their own path. I tried keto twice. It worked fine for about two months and then there were problems, diverticulitis both times being one. I know that works for some people, it just didn't work for me. What works for me may not work for you.. If the carnivore diet really worked without causing other problems, we would all be on it. I don't think there is anything that works 100%. It's all about balancing this and that til you find what is best for you. Living with these types of illnesses is incredibly individual.

You do what works for you. I also go back and forth between strict and adding small amounts of carbs. I'm learning a higher fat approach is much better, but sometimes I just get tired of eating so much fat, want some variety. I do love pork belly, sliced and pan fried with a drop of lemon, it's so tasty and has a high fat content and I eat lots of eggs and raw kefir, along with a bit of organs (liver or heart) from time to time and the rainbow of carnivore meats/seafood. Occasionally add in whatever whole food carb that doesn't give me oxalates. And I've also discovered how much circadian biology/rhythm also affects our health and healing, getting in daily sunlight exposure from sunrise to sunset along with movement. But it sound's like you have your hands full with your kids. Go at your pace and keep asking questions and searching for answers, you will find what works for you.

Yes! All of the opinions and advice is sooo overwhelming! I’ve been struggling with this issue lately too. It’s hard when you have multiple doctors helping with different things and they have different tactics and priorities and ideas than the others. One wants to take it slow the other wants to be more aggressive etc.Than on top of it you have family and friends commenting and giving advice on what you should be doing not only physically but mentally. “You need to get out more”, “you need to stop waking up later and later”, “ you need to push yourself”, what do you think I’ve been doing for 3 years? I’m not saying they aren’t right in what they’re saying, but it can be frustrating to have to listen to people (including doctors) who have no idea what it’s like to be so sick, and the toll it takes on you mentally and physically. I guess what’s frustrating is having to listen and obey people who have zero idea what I’m actually going through, because at the end of the day if I want my health to improve or not get worse I have to listen to them even though I’m the only one who truly understands the struggles I’m facing non stop. It’s hard not to lose my cool and go full rage mode on people when they tell me things I actually need to do or work on. I guess it just makes me feel like I’m never doing enough and that they think they know what I’m going through and understand, even though what they’re saying is true it can be hard to listen if that makes any sense even though they’re right it doesn’t make it any easier to listen to, I think it makes it harder because someone who doesn’t understand is right. They just don’t understand the strength it takes to make those changes or do those tasks no matter how small. They understand what I need to do but not the struggle and strength it takes to do said thing. Healing and all the things you have to do to heal- not just try to heal, but survive day to day- is exhausting, it’s like a never ending list of chores that just keeps getting longer and harder.😩😭Sorry for ranting, I’m kind of at the end of my rope… I struggle to explain how I feel, writing it out to others who get it makes it easier to put into words so that I can later say the same thing to the people who don’t fully understand…🫠

hey aimee, i loved hearing your back and forth, i feel like it's so hard to make decisions for ourselves, i hear you on no matter what you do is wrong, lol, i feel that so much especially with motherhood and childcare choices. i agree we need to balance our physical health and mental health and also just the big picture of what is good all around. thanks for being honest in your experience and how it went for you.

nothing wrong with antidepressants. congratulations on being brave and choosing what's right for you. we cannot handle it all at once, and you've got SO much on your plate with 3 kids and multiple chronic illnesses. antidepressants can actually ameliorate symptoms from an immune system in overdrive, they decrease allergy symptoms, and well, they once saved my life. I also grew up in an environment where antidepressants were stigmatised or distrusted, and I was scared when I took them for the first time, but they rarely just 'mess' with your head by themselves. my best friend is a molecular biologist who was on antidepressants for 7 years and he totally changed my mind about antidepressants, even though I never took them again, I totally would if I needed, and I wish I had when I had my severe anxiety burnouts in the past, because I might just have avoided some health damage and suffering.

I could’ve made this video lol! I feel this so so much. Figuring out the right diet with autoimmune disease(s) feels nearly impossible… I haven’t tried everything because like you were saying I get so paralyzed by all the different opinions that I just don’t do anything. I have landed on a loose paleo diet and I seem to do ok on it but still struggle with gut issues & so many other symptoms. I don’t want to restrict foods unless I absolutely have to, but you can’t know that unless you restrict foods. 🤦‍♀️ It truly does feel impossible, especially when you have kids!! I totally get it!! You’re doing amazing and honestly I have so much respect that you have been able to do carnivore with 3 little kids… I find paleo to be a big enough challenge with 1 little guy. If it’s worth anything, I’m planning to try a whole30 soon which I don’t know if you’ve tried, but I like that it’s only 30 days and not as restrictive as other diets, and it helps you figure out your sensitivities. I’m hopeful that it will be helpful and it seems manageable with my son because I can still cook meals for all of us and they can just add in some bread or something if they want.

I'm skeptical of the carnivore diet because i am vegan myself (7 years, after 2 years vegetarian) partially for ethical beleifs and partially for health and after doing so much research and finding so much contradictory information i know how hard it is to figure out what is best and I've realised whilst there can be debates about different health outcomes from different diets a lot of it is highly individual. I beleive strongly that meat is unhealthy based on my research and experience but I've learned to appreciate that others are different and just because i disagree does not mean i have to share that and lecture people. It's hard to know what to do for the best when as you say the professionals all disagree. I wish you the best and hope you'll keep experimenting to find what's right for you ❤

I think you were right when you said you'd always be wrong, no matter what you did. We can never make everybody happy, but that's ok because making everybody happy isn't the point anyway. Doing what is best for you and your health IS the point. If that means eating steaks, then find a reliable butcher that can give you a good price. You are worth it! There are a lot of things that I can't eat, my stomach just cramps up, so I focus on eating the best of the foods I can eat. It's not restricted, it's selective, so that I Can absorb any nutrients at all! I want to go carnivore, but I feel guilty about buying so much steak that I buy hamburger instead and then my family eats it all! Lol. I'll get there. And so will you, don't apologize for taking care of the one who takes care of everybody else!

Hey 😊 Oh the “not enough” syndrome! Gotta love the push and pull. I’ll say that, “you’re right”. Everyone has an opinion. My experience? Not from the eds/mcas perspective this time but from having and treating eating disorders…. Everyone has things that work differently for them and to make it more complicated, different diets can often work better at different times in our lives. For me personally I’ve found that paying attention to cravings and what I can tolerate seems to work best overall. It’s usually nutrients I’m missing and my brain remembers certain foods give me certain nutrients. Sometimes it’s a texture thing or sometimes I just need to not be restricted even with a price to pay! But overall, in the eating disorders community I used to see a lot that restriction and rigidity was what did most peoples heads in. But ultimately if one diet worked for everyone, I think the whole world would be well and it’s not. It takes time and it’s okay to take your time and try and retry and do something new. Gosh mcas alone tends to mean that our bodies randomly decide to pick fights with the best things out there! So even eating super clean isn’t always the answer!!! You’re on a journey and ultimately you don’t need to answer to anyone but your husband and family (and God) but I know that it’s hard when you’re in the spotlight too. You can do this!!! One step at a time!!!!

I have a lot of health issues too so energy after work to cook is hard. What we have found works really well is grilling out a lot of meat on the weekends that can easily be incorporated with different veggies or into easy casseroles/dishes throughout the week . We freeze some of the chicken and steak as those heat up well. The rest we eat fresh. Then I’m only cooking a full meal one or two nights at the end of the week.

I do the same thing! Batch cooking meat is so easy and helpful. There's just always protein to grab when you're on the verge of desperation... the place where wrong decisions could otherwise take place hahaha!

The antidepressant I used several years ago saved my life. Nothing else could have help me at that time in my life, I felt as if I was myself again thanks to that medication. I no longer need it but I'm thankful that a psychiatrist prescribed me the right antidepressant for my case. I totally understand your need for an antidepressant, even if there can be some side effects sometimes.

My advice would be, stay away from restrictive diets, unless it's because you are allergic to some foods or have problems with cholesterol or something like that.

They're both right. The vegans and the carnivores. I do it to where I eat beef only one day, super clean, then I'll throw in some egg yolks only and bacon, then when I've had enough meat, then I'll switch to vegan. It just seems to work. And who gives a crap what people say. Don't worry about it.

We have found steak to be cheaper than ground beef, chicken, roast or even pork in our area of the country. Maybe ground beef patties grilled and left over use some beef bone broth over it.

ADHD medication is a stimulant and can suppress appetite. Also many antidepressants can do the same and suppress appetite. Antidepressants such as Prozac, Cymbalta, Wellbutrin. But these medications are not intended to be used as weight loss supplements. There are many medications that can help with weight loss. 😊
