I love that the whole appendix bit came about because Michael Shanks had actual appendicitis and wasn't available to film that episode... They were having trouble figuring out a pretense for why he wasn't there... until someone suggested simply having Daniel get appendicitis as well.
I shouldn't tear up, but there are a couple three deep meanings beneath that simple line of dialog. About time for another pass through all the DVD box sets. :)
"The First Ones" (Ep 08 of Season 4) is hands down one of my favourites. And I always liked that scene where Daniel shares his chocolate bar with the Unas. Totally get that line too, given in the original motion picture Jackson gave a bar (5th Avenue if memory serves?) to Kasuf as what I understand to be some kinda peace offering. Damn I really need to start binging Stargate again, although I only have the box sets of the first four seasons of SG-1 at the moment (despite having watched the entirety of SG-1 quite some time ago.)
@@cab63868386 They made it so daniel and jack had this secret thing going where certain things they said helped them recognize it's really them because of the nature of the job, like a possible chance of possession and so forth. Mainly it then turned to them saying "what?!" back to each other.
@@BlackDiamond2718 Window of Opportunity. Jack and Tiulc caught in a time loop. What they go through is torcher, But funny as hell! It's in season 6. Sir step away from the fruit loops!
@FlyingMonkies325 well to be far when they took hostages on accident that one time is the episode they found out they wouldn't be re-newed for another season. So I'm sure that was a little bit if Shanks own frustration 🤔
3:18 Simmons: Need i remind you Dr Djackson, the dangers that we trying to defend earth against? Daniel: Oh could you ? i mean go slow... How did not that got him ascended right away by Oma or the others? This was savage af, regardless of the plan of existence you look at it from
Man, I hate the episode where they just tossed Daniel in the psych ward. SG-1 faced so many different stuff - some of which was already mind-altering and proven to be so - and they just go "Welp, sorry Daniel. We didn't see anything so you're probably losing your marbles. Off to the padded cell with you :)"
You know, everytime I watch this episode, I've always found it fascinating to see humanoid civilizations such the ones from "Bad Guys" can behave just like the modern humans of Earth. You see what I'm saying?
Shanks has said that the episode at 11:36 - 12:13 is his least favorite episode of the entire series since his outburst is entirely out of character for Daniel!
@@elonwhatever Yup. I really loved that one episode where he said something snarky then apologized that he'd been "spending too much time with Colonel O'neill". It made me laugh and it's so true!
@@amberjewell3894 I just saw that episode not too long ago. I forgot who he said it to though. He was in the SGC leaning in a doorway....this is gonna annoy me until I remember it
3:54 ~ Daniel looked ready to beat this boy! I think that he probably got that a lot when he was in school and he's sick of it. Given their friendship, Jack probably knows this, and was only half-joking when he said, "Easy big guy" to him.
4:50 "I think I had her in grade 5." Wrong. Dr. Jackson is American and would've said "5th grade". However, a Canadian writer would say "grade 5". 9:28 Wrong, again. Dr. Jackson never saw the stargate until the moment they got it to work.
well, Michael Shanks is Canadian too and the show was shot in Canada. Just because some actors and producers were American and the distributor was MGM doesn't mean every llittle thing, even every figure of speach has to be americanized. The world is diverse.
@@granville7 If the character was supposed to be American, then yes, it should be. Otherwise it's inaccurate. Not every character was supposed to be American, McKay was Canadian, he always made a point of saying "Zed pee emm" instead of "zee pee emm" when referring to the ZPM
I never caught the actor playing the other life being name,He deserves an Emmy,it's the scene where Daniel says, don't say no till you try it,as Daniel gives him some package food,
some of my favorite moments are when the anthropologist gets to anthropology. (yeah, they say archeology in the show, but in most of the ways that matter to the show, they're basically the same thing. one's a subset of the other iirc)
Daniel is wrong on one item, Botany Bay and Sydney Harbour(aka Port Jackson) are completely different locations. Botany Bay was intended to be the site of the first colony, but upon arrival it was deemed unsuitable. They decided to check an inlet just North of Botany Bay that cook had described but hadn’t explored further and found it to be one of the most perfect natural harbours in the world, and so founded the settlement there.
I'm not too fond of daniel after jack left that wasn't daniel he was acting like jack just to kind of keep the comedic act going but he's not jack it's not the same, i love my peculiar sweet boy intelligent daniel that didn't like being left behind.
