Because he was the bread winner of his family. Naturally every one else would be saved.. Random Analysis Remember how he was introduced? He was a devious con man that did good business. Avon made him feel inferior, and called him out on the court. He put his ringer in and won again the basketball game. Then he gave Omar, Avon’s pager number and code. Then he met Stringer and seen a way to get the real estate in the city. And made stringer handle brother mozzon, even though he wanted to stay in the projects. I like how a real G treats another real G with respect, doesn't matter they're enemies. A man must have a code. :^) Omar, Prop Joe, Avon, Slim and Wee-Bey were the realest niggas on the Wire. It's ironic that most of them got fucked over, either getting whacked or put behind bars. Meanwhile, angry dogs such as Marlo take their place. Mark my words - the world is changing for worse. The generation of good people is slowly dying out and the evil, shallow fucks take their place. The Wire got its symbolism right. Humanity is fucking doomed.

Song playing in the background is Seven-Ay-Pocky Way by Jason Marsalis (1977). We jam that joint during Mardi Gras. Wat the hell Prop Joe know about that song ??? LMAO

The creator of the show David Simon also created Treme which is set in New Orleans. He's probably got some sort of roots there.

Slim wasn’t a snake but knew the game.. as soon as that happened he knew that his safe position of darting out of personal drama could be compromised if he gets caught in Joes crossfire. As it is they coulda just walked in and started shooting.
