Here in SE Asia, I can get peanut butter made with just peanuts and Himalayan salt. No extra oils, no sugar. Would that be an exception to the US made peanut butter?
They don’t say it’s refined because they want us sick. My aunt and my mom only used butter, full fat milk delivered by the farmer, lard and of course seasonal vegetables. They never listened to the doctors in regards to margarine, vegetable oils ect. They didn’t die of metabolic disease or suffered from the effects.
Same here (greetings from Poland). My grandparents, and their parents, has been all living simple lives, eating simple all natural things. They all reached 90, not having any significant illnesses. Furthermore most of them died cause some stupid accidents (e.g. my grand-grandmother, who were climbing furniture to change window curtains - too lazy to go for a ladder) .
@@redflame7033 Pols, great people, my mom went over a lot from Britain. My heritage on my dads side is Hungarian! Two countries which value freedom and common sense.
The peanut butter manufacturers remove the peanut oil and sell it separately, then they add cheap hydrogenated seed oils to replace it.( plus sugar) Price a quart of peanut oil some time.
Went to my doctor and he was freaking out over my high cholesterol ( 300+) and informed me I am a high risk for having a stroke or heart attack anytime and wanted to put me on cholesterol meds. I asked him what was the HDL and LDL levels, but he said "it doesn't matter, it's combined over 300." In the past few years I've dropped 70 pounds on a KETO OMAD 75/25 meat/veg lifestyle. My Blood pressure at the doctors was literally 120/70, Hemoglobin A1C was 5.4 and my Triglycerides were 45. I left the office more worried, stressed and anxious than when I arrived. So Dr. ordered a CCA Test to measure the Plaque and Calcium build up in my Carotid Artery and the score was 0...zip, zero, nada, no plaque or calcium. Arteries clear.
My LDL ratio was 6.1/Cholesterol 162. So my Doc prescribed me with Statins. Upon doing my research and 5 weeks into this cholesterol meds, (was on keto 3 weeks before my blood lab so of course my Cholesterol may go up). So I challenge my Doc and told her she prescribed me Statins so early (after watching Dr. Berg) and she never replied to me via secure message. So I fired her and got me a new Doc and I stopped my meds. I have yet to see my new Doc but it’s okay. I feel better now and lost 30 pounds and 7 inches waist line since March. It’s a slow weight loss but I know I’m healthier than ever! Glad to hear your story! Most Docs don’t know anything about nutrition esp Keto diet🤣😂
Well Frankie you got your answer! Great job! You know it is sobering when you realize your doctor is not up to date on health issues! Congratulations on those results!
Laughing. Thomas mentions a greasy donut and the first thing I think is "Yum, Krispy Kreme". My go to breakfast in my pre-keto days. Nowadays I stay far away from that but the mention can still bring back memories with a smell along with it. My go tos now are pasture raised eggs, local sourced meats and garden fresh veggies. So much a difference with 100 pounds gone.
I promised myself a dozen of the original when I hit my goal weight. Helped when KK was offering a free one daily once you got your shot. And I was able to laugh at the lineup waiting to turn in for their free donut, when I had my regular visit to my oncologist. (In Rockville, if eating donuts gives you a heart attack, you’re in luck: the hospital is right across the road!)
@@karasmom3538 The original Krispy Kreme shop on Ponce in Atlanta would be where I would drive up for my donut and coffee before heading to work. On the weekends when we worked, I would pick up a dozen to keep all the OT workers going. I think if I tried to eat one nowadays after being off sugar for so long, I would fall into a sugar overload and want to sleep for a couple hours. It's funny how some of the most deadly of our fast food restaurants are either inside the hospital or right near it. Doesn't speak too highly for our medical staff and out patients. Hope you have recovered from your cancer.
I can tell you the smell memory, taste memory all go away. I've been sugar free (allowing for treats) for over 15 years. It was one of my best diet changes. I don't crave sugar, smaller bites satisfy me so I eat less. And all the health benefits. There's so much yummy keto desserts I'm just afraid I'll get hooked on sweetness!
@@carolmiller5713 I can live without sweets now that I have been off of them for a while. What I really miss is bread. Still trying to find a keto low carb breadish that would do as a substitute. I don't want sandwiches or lots of rolls or whatever, just a slice of toast in the morning with my eggs. That has been the only down side to this lifestyle for me.

I still use peanut butter, but I've really stuck to all natural brands that don't have the garbage hydrogenated stuff in it. I don't consume a lot of it, but I also eat more Omega 3 foods to keep the balance.
@@sweettea1193Almond butter is quite tasty, and I like it well enough, but it's not quite the same flavor. That said, my PB consumption isn't much, and as I said, I stick to the better stuff when I do.
If you buy powdered peanut butter it’s wayyyy healthier since it only has 1.5 grams of fat per 2 tbsp. Then you can add your own oil, I usually make mine with mct oil

I finally, after all this time, am starting to realize why our mainstream food supply is so unhealthy. Quality oils/fats are beaucoup expensive! If you go to a restaurant, of course they will use the cheapest soybean/rapeseed oil. They want to make a profit and these oils make food taste pretty great, but are just terrible for you.

Having been on low-fat, organic vegetarian/pescatarian almost 40 years, trying keto has me dancing on my head but with intermittent OMAD I make sure my one meal tasty, healthy & best quality. Going into foreign territory, I discovered oil "tasting" almost like wine tasting. You won't see the undesirable oil advertising flavor. Once you try coconut or Olive Oil (Spain, Italy, Morocco, etc) no going back...
Yup. Dr. Mike Israetel posted a video the other day claiming studies have shown that canola oil is actually pretty healthy. Only thing was that he didn't mention the studies were sponsored by companies that sell canola oil. If it's processed, it's probably not good for you.

I am not giving up my organic peanut butter! The only ingredient is organic peanuts and I only have a tablespoon a day. It's my one treat. 🙄 I love keto but I draw the line at my peanut butter.
@@MuhammadAhmed-zg5hl it might be better but it doesn’t taste the same… I feel like if I’ve given up sugar flour potatoes rice pasta I can allow myself peanut butter
So many otherwise decent products are ruined by sunflower or safflower oil! Catalina Crunch is an example, though it also has "natural flavors," and is a bit high in carbs for a "keto" brand. I got it once and decided it's a no-go, along with most of the "keto" products at Costco. I guess their buyers need to watch some keto youtube channels.
@@fondrees Seed oils are bad for you. They're tortured just to extract them. That means they're oxidized and have stuff in them that's not the oil itself, leading to free radicals, which are themselves bad for the liver.
I was shopping for my regular ghee than I found it sold out then I bought another brand that saying it's coming from the best cows! After 2 weeks all my joints got inflammations! I took the that Ghee & read the label & I found it contains trans fat! I got shocked that even Ghee hydrogenate it!!
In your keto shopping video at Costco you made a big deal about how great it is to buy the peanut butter because it’s just made with peanuts and salt. This video you have it listed as the 2nd worse behind margarine. I’m confused?
The peanut butter in this video he’s talking about is the typical PB brands made with soybean oil. The Costco PB he specifically noted didn’t have anything besides peanuts and salt in it, which is what makes it great.
Well here in Romania there are no pasture raised eggs. The best quality eggs we have are these where it says that the chickens have access outside so they're not stressed. They can turn slightly orange when cooked at like 5-6 mins but it's not a deep deep orange.
Matt you had me worried their for a second that my coconut oil wasn't "virgin". Was always told cold pressed was what you were looking for. Never heard/paid attention to the term Virgin coconut oil. Had to check mine, Costco brand says both I'm good 🙌. I use that stuff more then olive oil because I like the sweeter flavor of it

Honestly doing keto has been one of the best decisions I’ve made ! What’s keeping people from learning about it and actually trying it out ?? Legit question lol anyone ?
im surprised ur even asking this.... well, i can give u some answer here. not sure your age, but if you lived in the 80s, 90s, and even the early 2000s u probably heard about everything being low fat. many ppl, probably the majority, still believe in this diet. why? well its simple, if you dont want to be fat, u dont consume fat. it actually sounds quite logical. the low fat diet was even recommended by the food pyramid, which basically every health class in school taught. guess we should mention people's ideas about cholesterol, being vegan/vegetarian (most ppl think keto is only eating meats and fats, among other health scares they put on us about fats. im sure theres more i didnt think of. keto flu, ballooning weight, not being able to eat what they want i guess can be added.
OMG you are the first person I've heard of like me. I only have the whites if I scramble or omelette. I can only eat boiled eggs if I mash them with Salad Cream. I crack my eggs in a bowl and drain off most of the white, frying quickly what's left to have runny yolks on toast with either back bacon or black pudding ❤️
I only eat grass fed peanut butter, it has more omega 3's. Seriously, 7months on keto and I'm down 40lbs. That big, fat belly is almost gone! I eat TONS of butter and Teton polish sausauge from Costco. HDL went from 177 to 240 and LDL went up signifigantly as well. But, as he said the HDL went up and the ratio is better. As "low carb down under" explained, high LDL on keto is the Alpha profile and totaly fine. It's when it's oxidized by carbs it becomes a Beta profile and unhealthy.

Corn, Soy, Canola also GMO. It's almost impossible to find non-GMO Corn or Soy in your country. In Europe we don't use the USA corn or Soy, it's banned because cancer connection.
I retired and have a fixed income so I'm careful with what I buy at the store. The one thing I don't skimp on is eggs. I buy Vital Farms eggs or better, keep away from the cheap eggs. The paler the yolk the worse the egg.

Here's a thought: In the mid 1970s when petroleum got expensive the Canadians marketed rapeseed oil as a diesel substitute. Nobody liked the name so they started calling in Canola (CANadian oil). Rudolph diesl invented his engine to run on seed oils. The first one shown to the public ran on peanut oil.
@Cary Galloway Another "fun fact" The study that deemed fat was bad and sugar was ok and became the replacement in foods when healthy fat was removed, was funded by the Sugar industry..
@Cary GallowayI do my dead level best to avoid rapeseed (aka Canola diesel fuel), peanut oil (the original diesel fuel), corn oil, soy oil, cottonseed oil ("vegetable oil"), and grapeseed oil, but boy! are those engine fuel ubiquitous. I try to substitute in tallow, lard, and bacon grease. All things old are new again. The government lied to us and continues to lie. Maybe we should de-fund the FDA.

I know that Thomas will never see this, so this is probably wasted effort. Please try to follow the age old structure for presentation Thomas: outline for the audience what your about to tell them, then tell them, in detail, what you want them to know and then, finally, summarize what you just told them. This structure is proven to provide information to the audience that will be understood and retained better than any other method. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS !

Agreed. More outlines of the information, including terms and processes, would up his effectiveness. Dr. Sten Ekberg has much of the same information in his youtube videos, but his information is easier to recall because of his visual supports which define terms & show where he is going. His visual outlines show how he got to his conclusions and recommendations. Dr. Sten Ekberg is at the next level in video production, without commercial plugs for products. That said, I still watch DeLauer.
i find that listening to someone telling me what they're going to tell me later is way overdone in many videos. I'd rather have a shortened video with just getting to the point without the overly long outlines telling me what your going to tell me.

Margarine came in to give to soldiers because it doesn’t spoil. It was never meant to be eaten by the mainstream population but to provide moisture to bread rations in the trenches.
MCT oil is highly refined coconut oil. It has to be expeller fractionated which involves at the very least, high heat. Which conflicts with the information you have presented on coconut oil being easily damaged by high heat. Care to share how this isnt confusing or explain in more detail either here or in a link?
