I think you are absolutely right. I have come to believe that any women not married by 25 in a secure (loving) and functional marriage is a covert narcissist (or full blown narcissist sometimes obviously) hence why the NO accountability. @brotherowl , I think you hit the nail on the head. Being self-serving sabotages relationships, and destroys any prospect for long-term happiness. This is an important point for BOTH sexes. We need to love well enough to overcome our tendencies toward being self-centered. Marriage only works when BOTH people are in it for the good of the OTHER person, and ultimately for the CHILDREN. It only takes one selfish person to destroy a marriage. This is what is missing from the conversation about marrying single mothers. Men who object to raising another man's child because it is of no personal benefit are indicating that they are already too self-focused to be good husband/father material for ANY woman, even a virgin. (Not that there is anything wrong with that, so long as you stay single.) Marriage is already hard enough, but without the degree of love required to transcend your own interests, marriage is impossibly painful. Seriously, when did love stop being the central part of these conversations? not

Why put yourself through that bullshit. Marriage is a waste of time and money and effort that a man will never, ever come out ahead. It is a lose lose situation and a contract that is for her benefit, not his. Just over 50% of marriages end in divorce, 75% of those divorces were filed by the wife. 80% of women with Grad school education divorce their husbands. If you were going skydiving and the instructor said 50% of the parachutes won't open and we don't know which ones those are, would you take that chance? Or bet your house, kids, retirement and and 50% of your salary on a high low card draw, would you take that bet?

I married at a younger age and quite conservative in all things love related. But I was born and raised outside of US, though I now lived in US for a very long time. I am not politically conservative, more like independent or moderate. But relationships wise very much conservative.
