All facts! I reached 8 years and couldn’t get past 15”. I realized that I was ripping through my ends. I started babying my ends and length retention came. It is very time consuming but you’re right, what you invest you get out. You reap what you sow. Thank you for being a constant inspiration.

Thank you for bringing up the mindset towards hair!! Many have a very negative attitudes to our hair that translates to how we look after our hair. I'm a long hair lazy natural as well but got here through patience and not blindly following advice without taking into account what my hair is like.

Hi, I’ve been natural for years and I can definitely say my hair grows if I do a protective style and then leave it for a few months. I have medium-high density, low porosity and fine strands. On one hand as long as I moisturise and leave my hair alone it grows, but on the other hand no matter how gentle I am, my hair can break easily when I’m doing a takedown. My hair loves twists but then after a few weeks it starts to knot at the root. So I really don’t know what to do because I really take care of my hair and use low manipulation. Because of the fine strands, knots are inevitable, however I always finger detangle. My hair is kind of mid length but I’m praying to God for waist length hair. At this point I don’t know what to do, it seems like my hair doesn’t want to go past this length 😔
@ebonyy5248
@ebonyy5248 3 года назад
hi, sorry this is happening to you :( i also have low porosity with fine strands for the most part. i used to think my finger detangling was gentle, but then i decided i wanna aim to not lose a single strand to breakage (which is almost impossible, but hey). so even though i was already detangling very slowly before, i tried to detangle even slower almost in slow-mo, and that's when i realized that i wasn't being as gentle as i initially thought i was. our hair is so fragile, especially people with fine hair. when we hold our hair to figure detangle, we don't have to grip so firmly--be extremely gentle if you can help it! also, during your detangling sessions, make sure you're using products with a TON of slip. behentrimonium monosulfate is a non-sulfate ingredient that gives great slip. (dimethicone gives slip too if you're into that kind of stuff 👀). then sit back, play some relaxing music and try to enjoy detangling. if you see it as a chore, you'll treat it like a chore, which means you'll rush even if you don't realize it. hope this helps somehow :)

When I was very young, there was not this emphasis on hair growth, and which product to used etc. Where this comes from all of a sudden? In my days I would washed my hair because my mother knew it's a hard work and I would have cried down the house, then towel dry, use pomade hair oil ( do you hear me, pomade hair oil) and I did the same on my daughters hair and she is doing the same on her daughters hair and it has very good length both of them, then I comb and go. There were the add times when we would use some aloe vera for treatment because that was what we had. I had plenty of hair and even now in my middle age I still have a good length of hair. What I found is that the hair market is on the rise and because of that everybody jumps on the bandwagon trying to gain followers and then the next thing they start marketing their own hair growth products. What kitchen they were made in, what hygiene procedure did they follow, which environment officer check these samples and the list goes on? Child the home remedy market need to be regulated and proper licensed, anyone and everybody can make 'hair treatment' these days. The other issue is influencers come on their platform use products without giving correct instructions but also because you are an 'influencer you are influencing us to follow you, hence we go out and buy these products and then develop reaction to them. We can't take them to court because we know they weren't licensed so we are on our own to front medical bills to sort out reactions. It would seem like im making a big issue out of this, but if you buy something at Target or Tesco and something should happen, we would have them for it, so why not the traditional home remedy sector? According to an article on Google published by the NHS (UK base National Health Service) "If you want to try a herbal medicine/medication/treatment, look out for a traditional herbal registration (THR) marking on the product packaging". THR on the package gives some indication that it's safe to use. Some of these products that they use from their concoction, does it have THR on it?🤔 ladies I know that they have fashioned the length of our hair as beautiful but what is wrong with short length? The flip side will be them encouraging us to wear protective hair style, so you know it's to introduce us to wigs. Another hairstyle money-making venture. They start applying wigs on their channel and as you know, who does want to a good wig other than our hair, especially as we are a nation that love to change up our hairstyle. When will you wear your hair? It is covered most of the time by wigs, braids etc. Some of these influencers lies about the type of hair they have. Why are content creators stressing hair length? Do you really know the struggle is it to manage natural hair? I cry some tears in my younger years and even now im trying to go natural it's still in a fight. I don't appreciate these people telling us about our hair the Lord gave to us. Due to the complexity of natural hair, it's difficult to manipulate it every day like our Europeans counterparts. So why even bothered, hence perm came on the scene, to take out the stress of managing especially type c hair 🙄😪😪 Lawd have mercy. I tell you it's all a scam and money-making industry. My my, don't do it. Stick with what best suits you. I rest my case...

@astrose305 3 года назад
Then don't boo twa is the perfect length where wash n goes are actually beneficial for length retention just preserve it with a satin bonnet and or with plastic shower cap x
@ObaaYaaJones
@ObaaYaaJones 3 года назад
When I had a twa, I didn't do much to my hair. I would wash it once a week, moisturize and use a scarf to tie it down, so it was mostly compressed. That's how I wore my hair mostly until it got longer. That's when I started putting in twists. Even though the twist were tiny, I didn't mind and still wore my hair out like that. I did that until my hair was long enough to fit a puff. The puff wasn't the biggest then, but I would alternate between puffs, twists and a compressed afro. So maybe you can try the compressed afro.
@felicia_716

@@ObaaYaaJones I do tie my hair down when I can and wash once weekly. I can twist it but it comes untwisted so I'm thinking I have to wait for more length. Thanks for responding! I feel like I'm in the right path!

Beautiful girl and beautiful hair. It looks so lush! My hair is pretty long even having done significant cutting in the last 18months (it's complicated, lol), but I've definitely been guilty of neglect. For that reason, I've been hanging between waist and tailbone forever. Really want to shoot to full tailbone (and maybe hip), so that's partly the reason for the cuts. Anyway, time will tell!

I started my healthy hair journey in Feb 2017.. it took me long time to learn about my hair, type, products, styles, detangle, wash days, masks and transitioning from damaged burned hair to healthy one , taking care of my hair in moody days ( I know now to never touch my hair if I am not ready for it lol ). All this took about two years. I could have cut it and started fresh but I was so afraid to do this step .. Finally, my hair now passed the shoulder and almost bra length .. I have experienced more growth between 2019 -2021 🙏🏾

I feel like you’ve made a ton of videos about this. Hair growth should be simple if you aren’t suffering from any medical conditions. Just stop doing things that you know would break off your hair = length retention = seeing the growth. Simple. Case closed.
