Bebop and Rocksteady forget who they were, Shredder forgets his main plan and Donatello forgets he's the smart one! All this and quickly shoved in action figure characters! phelous.com / phelous
You know another character that would make a lot more sense to have the desire to longer be a mutant over Donatello? Splinter, in this version of the series he was a human before he became a mutant. So if he was no longer a mutant he would just become a human again and lose none of his identity like it would for the four turtles. In fact he would actually be able to leave the sewer and actually have a life if he became human again.
Aw, that tattoo character disappointed me a little. I mean, they have a guy with tattoos, named tattoo, and they chose a hamster as the animal he mutated from? :/ The armadillo is literally called tattoo in french. If they'd made him an armadillo he would have been the mutated tattooed tattoo: Tattoo! :D
How I'd write an episode like this Tattoo, another goon who was in Bebop and Rocksteady's gang goes on a rampage. The Turtles trace Tattoo back to Bebop and Rocksteady to uncover Shredder and Krang's scheme of the day. Shredder and Krang think more troops would be useful, so taking 2 more members of the Bebop and Rocksteady gang and mutate them into Groundchuck and Dirtbag. As now it's 4 vs 4. This would be the part where the Turtloids come in, they crash land on Earth after escaping their home planet who's people were enslaved by an evil Overlord. Shredder and Krang attempt to team up with this evil Overlord whom gives Shredder and Krang blueprints to build Chrome Dome. The Turtles try to work with the remaining Turtloids to free their enslaved brethren from the Overlord, Shredder and Krang. It's not a perfect story, but it's a better plot than what we got and it works in all the crappy toys they shoehorned in
I didn't ninjagos overlord was a dimension hopper lol but still this is a good idea but it's not the type of story that the 87 turtle series does and not in season 5 no less at that point the show was not doing big and serious storylines but still this story would be great for a new ninja turtles series like a small storyline like what 2003 series did with the alien war they build up to it and it was great so this a cool idea but it doesn't fit the 87 show maybe the red sky season but no those season suck I hope you understand
I think in the '87 series, the idea was that animals (such as the turtles, or the mole and bull) are already intelligent in their own way, it's just that the mutation gives them the ability to better communicate with humans. Like how in the first episode, the turtles resent having lived in a fish tank for so long.
Groundchuck and Dirtbag were TOTALLY underutilized in the original series. I'm actually surprised they made such an impact as they're some of the first mutant villains that come to mind when talking about the original series. I was surprised that they didn't show up in the 2012 series considering how they managed to incorporate so many other characters from various Turtles incarnations. I was happy to see them show up in Shredder's Revenge however and I hope we see then again in future Turtles shows/movies.
@@theultimatememelord5494 "I hate Splinter" yeah bro f**k that show. Shame too because Raph's design in that show is my favourite. He looked cool. Too bad the writing was incompetent and had utter contempt for the audience.
Rocksteady: Hey, this is the same zoo we came from before we was mutated! Bebop: Uh Rocks, we're humans turned mutants remember? Rocksteady: Oh yeah...gotta lay off Krang's love smoothies!🐗🍹🦏
If they ever want to a TMNT reboot that has a Krang similar to the 87 cartoon, I vote for you to do his voice, Phelous. You sound almost exactly like the original VA.
This episode is special for me. My grandma recorded it for me on VHS. The tape also had the Mondo Gecko episode and the 1st episode of the Back to the Future cartoon. I watched it repeatedly and still have it today, complete with 1992 commercials.
@@theorangetoad5669 I thought about that. Might do it sometime. It has some good ones. Like an early Super Nintendo ad, Lucky Charms red balloon marshmallows, and a Hershey's chocolate one with a kids rap group.
In the old TMNT Donatello was really a wimp. In such cartoons the brainy character is always either the weakest or most cowardly, or both. Even Michelangelo the hedonistic turtle was more brave. Heck, one episode Leonardo says something about going down fighting like real turtles, and Don tells him he'd rather go on living like a mock turtle. But yeah, it really doesn't make sense that he never worried if he got turned back into an ordinary turtle he'd lose his intelligence. Michelangelo once turned into human teenager, and he lost his strength, and learned being human was "totally bogus". Even Splinter learned it after he was transformed temporarily back into a human. But whatever, I'm female what I think about a "boy's cartoon" doesn't matter. Just like it doesn't matter what males think of a pony *cough* girl's *cough* cartoon.
“The release of [turtle] power has changed everything except our way of thinking…the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a [pet shop turtle.]” - Donatello, 1992
"I assume you two know what that is and even what the hell I'm talking about because SHREDDER!!!!!!!" Hehehe. Yeah, this isn't one of his finer moments. I feel I must quote Orlando Bloom on Elrond telling everyone at the council that one of them has to throw the One Ring in the fire: "Why don't you do it, mate?"
I remember this being shown in the evening and it was abig deal. we were out doing shopping and I kept telling my dad to floor it on the way home so we wouldnt miss it
4:10 This line is the most frustrating part of the special, because it gets our hopes up that the story will go in a much more interesting direction. What if Shredder HAD been experimenting with mutagen again, and was creating an army of mutants? They could use it as an excuse to bring more of the action figures into the show, and instead pf the dumb gold-eating alien turtles, we could have had a huge battle royale with mutants of all shapes and sizes.
14:50 This is literally the first time that I've noticed Vernon has a freaking holster on his belt. I guess it's for a camera or something? But it's seriously narrow and gun-shaped it makes him look like a plainclothes police officer.
There should've been a joke about Donatello mentioning "copyright infringement" and Barry Gordon actually being a teacher that teaches about that sort of thing.
This story isn’t terrible. It has plot holes for sure, and some odd ideas. However the adventurous theme is still there! It has a good heart and a certain sense of drama too. It’s interesting how you reference later shows and other properties connected to the multi verse. Very well done and good narration too. I see the story in a more upbeat light, but I can also see the numerous plot holes.
18:13 I am suprised you did not mention the earlier episode Planet of the Turtles. Donotello knows there is another planet where Turtles rule yet here he treats it like a new concept.
when was this originally published? Not tryin to sound like a broken record... but constructing a playlist, and with the chronology changing with east post, Im just tryin to stay current. THX.
To be fair, even though Bebop and Rocksteady were mutated from humans because they were in contact with a rhino and warthog, they now share the memories of both. At least that's how it was in the Archie comics. So that line can be forgiven here.
The more I look into this series I start to have this growing interest with the whole "Mutants" idea. In fact I was thinking of adding that into a project I'm working on. Maybe I'll try to work more on this idea and see if I can revive the similar idea.
In a way, I can SORT OF understand what they were doing with the gold reference so hear me out; Turtles, like all other reptiles, are cold blooded and they could be going for 'the gold reflects off what little light whatever source the planet is using as a sun and thus produces the heat that turtles would need to regulate their body temperatures' sort of deal which, had it been done right, would have been cool. It would have made the gold VALUABLE but for a different reason, as not for it's monetary usage but the fact that the turtles indeed needed it to live or they would freeze to death. See, that would have made sense rather than saying it as if the turtles used the 'energy' of the gold ITSELF to live as if they didn't have other things such as food and water. And it would have been used as a conflict had Shredder learned of it and teamed up with the two backstabbers to steal the gold and use it as money but meh. Can't say anything about it now, it's been like 24 YEARS since this episode was on, wasn't it?
"Oooo...look! Moo-Moos and Duckies".....ROFLMAO XXD Oh. My God...YES. Now I remember why Rocksteady and BeBop (especially when they were pestering Shredder and Krang) were one of my favorite things about this show.
Oh Christ! I know you said that Planet of the Turtleoids was a painful episode to watch, but some of the things that happened so far has just been... wow...
The funny thing is that Turtles 3 got Donnie's character better than this special. When the turtles were considering staying in the past, Donnie was one of the ones that wanted to go back to the present because he liked the technology.
Oh... My... (O_O) I did not know about this one phelan... Good job! XD Now part 2! (ps: are you thinking of reviewing Piranhas 3D?... just watched and... well... PHELOUS SHOULD TEAR THIS MOVIE A NEW ONE!)
Phelous..... YOU DO KNOW YOU JUST PREDIDCTED THE END OF THE SECOND SEASON OF TMNT NICK SERIES DIDN'T YOU?! Irma is a Krang..... YEP IT IS NOW CONFIRMED, PHELOUS IS PSYCHIC!
The idea of the TMNT finding a planet full of alien Turtles is actually an interesting one. To bad the Turtleloids are a terrible realization of such an idea.
