Seeing Phelous wear that Turtle Christmas sweater every year and only get into this NOW is the best way to cap off the decade.

My guess on the little barefoot girl is that her character sheet had her in pajamas, since it appears that's what she's wearing in lieu of Ghostbuster overalls, hence barefoot, and then no one bothered to correct that with some shoes for the street environment, well either that or Dan Schneider was somehow involved.

I felt like everyone and their mother who reviewed TMNT stuff had already reviewed this one, so I genuinely had to think "Wait, didn't Phelous already cover this one?.......No, I guess not." I'm happy to see you doing it, though, since you put way more effort into the "backstory" of this thing, and all the obscure connections between people who worked on this and the concerts is actually pretty interesting.

The 1987 series was told they couldn't do a Christmas once they jumped to CBS because the one restriction Eastman and Laird put on the show was no rescue Santa episodes. Well that and the rumor that writers wanted to be a little more open with Irma's religion but CBS's standards and practices wouldn't allow any discussion of religious themes PERIOD. (Part of why they lagged behind Fox cartoons of the same time.)

I stg, I heard 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' the other day on the store radio, and I literally ended up with these lyrics stuck in my head instead of the real ones. This special has officially ruined my life.

Yeah, it's kitschy fun, but it's also a bit sad seeing what the TMNT got reduced to. From ass-kicking protectors of New York to a miserable low-budget fusion of Barney the Dinosaur and Color Me Badd. Small wonder it took a decade after this for the TMNT to get their groove back.

HEYYY, I recognize the comics they got for Splinter, those were the Archie TMNT Adventures comics, with the front one being one with a story done by Stan Sakai, and a cover by Ken Mitchroney! That series was a mixed bag of quality, but overall I really enjoy them for the most part. Definitely grittier than you would expect at first glance....usually. XD
