Would love a video about how Hearhstone took some “creative liberty” with WoW’s material, like turning Karazhan into Medivh’s bachelor pad, or how the League of Explorers have evolved over time
I definitely think tar creeper should’ve been number 1. It’s the most iconic 3 drop taunt of all time arguably, and is objectively better stats than patriarch.
@@canoflop ehh not sure I agree. Stone hill saw a lot of play when the discover pool was biased (especially Paladin) but tar creeper was treated like the best 3 drop ever in standard, and was god tier arena pick
10: Only good with dragons 9: No Beast tag, cant buff with turn 4 houndmaster. 8: Deactivates my mortal strike 7: Worse against Hysteria 6: Pay to win 5: Dies to Dragonslayer 4: Fills hand with garbage (Maybe free monke tho?), also no beast tag. 3: Gnome, not monke 2: Silenced by Defias cleaner, loses taunt 1: Cant corrupt 2 mana cards, also does damage to wrong face Verdict: Monke still best
I loved this video. Liked, commented and subscribed :) Took me back in time for a minute. I played hearthstone from core set through the first demon hunter set before I quit, but I have fond memories. I see your channel is just starting out and I'm excited to see more content from you. I loved all the context and history you gave to each card you talked about. I found myself nodding my head along with some entries like "yup, I member" Keep up the good work, I'll be watching.
You should add an annotation for stonehill defender--at the time, there was a 4x chance to get a class taunt to make it stronger and could discover itself. Due to RoS control warrior, the class discover bonus was removed and later during, I believe the Barrens, the ability to discover a copy of oneself was removed so stonehill can't discover itself anymore. So, in a way, it's been nerfed twice by mechanic changes meant to hurt other cards lol Edit: DHC was played before it got a tag. It was already a good card 16:15 wrong Nzoth You didn't include tar creeper? It also saw play its entire time in standard and some time in wild
stonehill defender most famous deck and successful use was odd paladin or any sorts of non control paladin because there was a very high chance to get sunkeeper tarim which was game winning for odd paladin or any sorts of paladin
Reno Jackson decks were my favorite ever. I loved those decks. But my second favorite deck of all time was the original Handlock. Being able to throw down 2 giants and taunt em up turn 6 was always so fun. That bring said, I don't play HS anymore. Too simplistic since I've found Master Duel lately.
Just to clarify about Stonehill defender, they changed discover to no longer favor or give any better percentage to class specific cards. That’s currently how all discover cards work
4:00 that doesn't matter, the real problem with random tags are them messing with your synergies, such as in this case, it's an elemental that's not snowfall or grumble, so your elemental tutors are way weaker
Hey! These videos are nice, but ive noticed a few typos here and there, and off scripts at some point. For instance, on stonehill defender, you both say that discover makes you only discover cards from your class and also that it just gives you an increased chance to do so just one paragraph later.
Discover is from neutral minions OR your class, and at the time was played class cards had a 3x offering rate. I think you meant that regarding Stonehill's discover, but the wording was a hit strange
Ok, here we go again: Best boardclears Best cards (minions and spells) that "buff" minions Best/worst core set cards Best/worst cards of X expansion/adventure Best performing classes in world chammpionship? this could be interesting. Best/worst non-collectible cards Top 10 Hardest pve bosses Top 10 Cards that "mill" your opponent (or cards that makes your opponent lose card advantage in any way) Top 10 Cards that transform other cards. Top 10 Broken cards that got nerfed Top 10 cards that no one thought would be powerful / bad cards that became good overnight
I miss a number of cards that I'd expect high on this list. In fact, it seems you completely forgot to include cards that powercrept on the Patriarch in health: * Tar Creeper (neutral 3 mana 1/5 taunt, has +2 attack during your opponent's turn) * Treasure Guard (neutral 3 mana 1/5 taunt, battlecry: draw a card) * Crypt Lord (Druid 3 mana 1/6 taunt, after you summon a minion, gain 1 health) * Insatiable Felhound (Demon Hunter 3 mana 2/5 taunt, corrupt: gain +1/+1 and Lifesteal)
How is vulgar on this list much less first? The -2 health means that death head and the water ele on the list essentialy give you 6 health advantage over vulgar for one more mana. Demon synergy might as well not exist as no one runs; sac pack, demonfire, demonheart, demonfire potion, manari mosher, fire breather, sense demons, demonfuse, shady bartender, malganis. You wouldn't want it pulled from voidcaller, or bane of doom, bloodreaver guldan, kruul. No one runs Lights champion so I guess that is one upside to vulgar? But no one ran that car when it was current either
For something to be powercreep it has to be objectively better than the previous in almost every single possible situation, if not universally. Like Ice Rager is an objectively better Magma Rager, barring some really niche situations where you want to kill your own minion [EG: Coiling your Rager to draw] Also; class cards have more power budget than Neutrals. Wyrmrest Agent: It's 'powercreep' is limited to 1 class; using a specific archetype. In every other situation, it's not powercreep. A situationally better card is not powercreep. Also; it can only be used in 1/10 classes. Also; Silverback Patriarch has the Beast tag allowing it to benefit from Beast synergies; while Wyrmrest Agent does not. Also; class cards have better power budgets than Neutrals. **Not Powercreep** Phantom Militia: While it doesn't have the Beast tag; I think it's fair to say +1 attack and Echo does make this powercreep. [After all; only 2/10 classes really have Beast synergy; so being a direct upgrade in 4/5 cases is good enough] **Is Powercreep* Hot Spring Guardian: Again, class card vs Neutral. Limited to 1 class. It also trades Beast for Elemental; but Shaman dosen't have Beast synergy and has Elemental synergy. **Powercreep; but only for Shaman** Fierce Monkey: Don't need to explain this one: **Powercreep; but only for Warrior** Archspore Msshi'fn: So; Druid-only. Legendary; so has the hidden text 'You may only have one of this card in your deck'. And it loses the Beast tag; so loses beast synergy, which matters because Druid does have some Beast synergy. **Not Powercreep; the card dosen't absolutely render Silverback obsolete. It's a better card; but not objectively better in every single situation** Dreaming Drake: I could say about Dragon being there instead of Beast, but this card has +2 attack. **Powercreep; but again; only in Druid** Stonehill Defender: OK; so again, this is where the definition of powercreep comes in. Stonehill Defender's ability is great. But *it loses the Beast tag* . Therefor; there are situations where one may want to play Silverback. You can argue about those choices being *correct* but it can be *justified*. Which means **this is NOT powercreep** Gnomeregan Infantry: See Stonehill Defender. It trades Beast for Charge. Also it being ranked #3 is a joke. **Not powercreep; and why the hell is this #3 and ranked above Stonehill?** Death's Head Cultist: Trades one tag for [an admittedly less supported] other tag. Considering it also gains Deathrattle synergy; a deathrattle; and +1 attack I think this is fair to call **powercreep** since the only real downside is vulnerability to pretty rare anti-deathrattle cards. Vulgar Homunculus: Class card. Has a **downside** as a tradeoff for it's higher stats. This is **not powercreep** . Saying this is powercreep over Silverback is like saying Pit Lord is powercreep over Pit Fighter. It's not. Why is a class card which has higher stats but comes with a downside #1 over cards which are actually objectively better and neutral? **AND WHERE IS TAR CREEPER WHO'S A NEUTRAL; HAS A TAG; +1 HP AND SOMETIMES +2 ATTACK AND IS OBJECTIVELY BETTER?!** So really; you've only given 2 neutral examples of powercreep; rated a card which isn't powercreep #3 and #1; missed the single biggest example of powercreep entirely [Tar Creeper]...
I do not think that the Duel Logs format works. Hearthstone is a Little too competitive game, many players prefering either top decks or battlegrounds tactics. I enjoy discosions of this type but the relevance is my concern.
