This video walks through some of the primary compositional tricks and tips I use in all my renderings. These tips are the foundation for simply making good imagery and can be applied to renderings from any program. You’ll be a more valuable designer if you can apply these techniques to whatever tool you pick up whether it’s 3ds Max, Unreal, Lumion or something else not even developed yet. Remember to be deliberate and understand how your compositional choices affect the way your design is interpreted by the viewer. Ultimately, these are just guidelines and the basics that I keep in mind when starting out. Don’t hesitate to get creative and break the rules if you feel the design calls for something more impactful!

Very helpful tips 👍, studing photography is a very good place to start. Something i also learned working on client renders, it's the overall feel and aesthethics (or realism) that counts at the end of the day. Clients Don't Pixel Peep.

100%. I think clients are often just as sold on the emotion the image conveys as they are the actual design. At the least it can give a good first impression and help set the tone for a productive discussion on the design once they do start looking closer. They definitely don’t pixel peep like we all like to!

Hey man, just watched u're video about modeling in revit and then putting the model in 3dsmax for render, and i had a question that bothers me for a long time. Most people say that the model imported in 3dsmax from another program is too heavy (some of them say that u need a better pc, others say that the model will cause a lot of bags and etc.). So basically i wanted to ask if it's true, do u really need a super expensive pc to put a model from other program to 3dsm or it works just right (does the model built in 3dsm is more light than the one from revit?)? And what sort of problems i should be aware in that case? (Btw i just started learning 3dsm)

thanks for your content, i really appreciate it , am having hard time installing corona and i have seen many tutorials and still fail to do so, so can u do render with arnold

Hi Nathnaiel, I unfortunately don’t know Arnold so I won’t be your best resource for optimizing those settings specifically. That said, the general ideas of my little Revit/3dsMax workflow should still work once you figure out nuances of settings up lights, materials and such with Arnold. Sorry I couldn’t be more help!

I really need a smart sketch pad, can you recommend one ?
@VanVoorhisArchitects
@VanVoorhisArchitects 2 года назад
Depends a bit on what you’d like to use it for. I just use an iPad Pro which is great for sketching over PDFs and screenshots and such. If you really want to go deep Wacom has a bunch of tablets and drawing pads that connect up to your desktop and let you leverage all your full powered desktop applications. Arguably more useful than an iPad but really depends on your workflows.
