Nope, you would think that, but there is no substitute for the full cockpit experience. Now, what most people don’t realize is that you really do get the perception of depth in the airline class simulators. And even more insane is that after a while you can turn the motion off but still feel like you are moving. The brain is amazing.

@@superskullmaster Notice how narrow the view is. VR would be far more immersive, you could move your head to the window and look up and down. With dummy panels with no displays correctly placed to match the virtual world you could actually touch them. With adequate resolution it should be quite convincing. And just a motion chair can be significantly cheaper to make. For an airliner it would be a pretty big dummy panel but still would have to be vastly more cost effective then your typical airliner sim that cost 10-20million dollars. If you can cut 15million down to 15k, that's quite a difference in pilot training cost. And the experience could be superior. It could include playful stewardesses.
