Basically, toxic positivity is people not wanting to acknowledge their errors by diverting the specific situation into different situations that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. People need to learn to accept that their mistakes warrant attention and needs to be talked about and not ignored. What happened to the times when people could have adult conversations without being canceled, just for the sole reason that some people won’t agree with what you say? The point about bringing up specific topics is to educate people and hear opinions. Why are some people so quick to turn the topic away from them and start putting blame on others, or even changing the topic? Just accept that you and I, and everybody on this planet, make mistakes, and we’re mature enough to accept it and talk about it, AND hear the opinions of others. I know that many times, words are taken out of context, but like I said before, that is why we have communication; so we can voice our opinions and let others know what they did or said that was wrong without it turning into an unnecessary fight.

Personally I liked how bts talked about the issue of self-love, they took their time (and albums) to go little by little, and that the message is not "Love yourself right now" but "Find the way, accept your mistakes, learn from them and try to improve, in your own way and in your own time " idk

THIS! I was on a random video about this wonyoung girl, since I searched 'fake socialite'(a Chinese projects). I clicked on that video and was scrolling through comments, there was one that said she's a genius because she gets good grades at school and I responded that good grades don't necessarily equal smartness with absolutely no intention of attacking wonyoung, I've said multiple times that I don't know her why would I hate her? I just made a general statement. And I got 100+(literally)comments telling me I'm jobless and jealous of wonyoung, making other worse personal attacks. Thank you very much for bearing my rant:)

Firstly I feel sorry for all the negativity that you might have had to put up with for voicing your opinions. 'Feeling obligated to love everything that your faves do/put out, otherwise you're a fake stan '- is an extremely irrational outlook and forms the foundation for most if not all fanwars. The way idols are put on a pedestal is dangerous, for them and their fans. Because it leaves no room for making mistakes, admitting and correcting them, leading to a vicious cycle of justifying them thus fuelling more criticism. Only if being rational was as easy as being biased.
@jiminiecrickit4695

I truly believe a lot of stans these days have always seen so much negativity that they convince themselves that if they stay `positive that the negative will go away witch actually does the complete opposite witch those more harm than good that way of thinking can really fuck with your mind and lead to more negative behaviors in a fandom .that's how I look at things I hope I make sense btw love your content keep up the good work

people throw away their dark side because they are scared of it. I think most people don't want to quote on quote talk about bad stuff, because it makes them sad, depressed or they are living with a bad life, etc. But I also agree that talking only about positive things and denying the negative part isn't good as well. I've seen a quote saying "we need darkness in order to find the light. Without darkness the light can't exist" It's like the ying and yang. I personally believe that instead of denying our own bad side we can learn to understand it and try to get help if needed. Once we can accept our own darkness, we would see the why in both the good and the bad side btw I don't think your a bad person or a toxic one. Continue with your channel, I really like your topics ^^

This channel has helped me change my POV on a couple topics and I really appreciate that. For example, I became a stay AFTER Woojin had left, so I had no clue what happened. Of course when I noticed that in certain videos there's 9 and in others there's 8, I naturally started doing some investigation on stan twitter, which has nothing nice to say about woojin, and I was too quick to believe everything that was being said. Luckily I randomly stumbled on this video which helped me see the situation from a logical standpoint and now I really sympathize with Woojin and his fans. girl...i cannot express how glad i am you made this video. ill try to not make a long comment, but honestly that's my thing and I'm just so excited toxic positivity is a subjet that i am personally very interested in because it's a problem that i think is present in basically everyone's personal and professional life. we are told all the time either unconciously or even verbally that the goal in everything is to be happy. that this is what you should strive for because it just feels good. but just like you said, it is so important to let yourself be sad and angry and frustrated. otherwhise this will all be bottled up inside you and eventually you will lash out hurting others and your relationships with them. because by surpressing those feelings, by invalidating them you are taking away your chance of reflecting and growing. because growing sometimes just means feeling bad because you messed up. and growing is just so important to being human. about the thing about self love, which a lot of artist include in their songs. first of all i think there is a terrible misunderstanding of what self love actually is. self love to me isn't pampering yourself and victimizing yourself because you are the best thing ever and don't deserve to feel bad nor could ever do anything wrong or some shit like that it means that even though i feel bad i tell myself that it's okay to feel the way i do now. that yes, i am upset and it may be irrational but it is how i feel. it means that i recognize that, let myself feel it and then am able to let it go. and probably even look at the situation more clearly. something i always tell myself is that i should not answer when im mad or make a decision when i'm sad. i will do it after i cried, or screamed or whatever. because even tho it's okay to feel bad it's not okay to hurt others because of it. this way im taking care of my relationship to others and by extent myself of course all of this is way easier said than done. i hope i'm not taking away any arguments you will present in your next video (which i'm really looking forward to) but i feel especially idols suffer from toxic positivity and also preach it to their fans. which is why it is such a problem among fans. there i especially see the aspect of that they do not want to focus on any bad things, even for a second, because you should always "look at the bright side". and that acknowledging the problem will make it harder to ignore and to stay silent. they are afraid of change and growth because that would mean a lot of work and they probably don't even know how to do it. therefore they will do anything to shift the focus away. i wish i saw the sentences "i see where you're comming from but..." "i get that this makes you feel that way but i think you are overlooking that..." more in comment sections/discussions. making sure the other person does not feel like their feelings are unvalid will make for a less hate-driven conversation i think. allow me to give some thoughts/advice so that a situation like the one from your last video doesn't happen again? as much as i love the energetic way you talk because it just speaks of strong character, i feel like it would be better/smarter if you used a softer/more neutral voice when addressing very controversial problems. it could be the case that people mistaken your emotions for hatred or feel attacked simply by the way you speak and overlook what you actually say. and now i really hope your are taking care of yourself, stay healthy and keep going. you can do it girl! honestly i love commenting underneath your videos because i feel like i can express what i think without getting hate because you do it no matter how uncommon it is. you could say you inspire me thanks for what you do and putting this out. a bunch of people need to hear this.

I like stray kids and I agree with everything u said. The people who are responding to ur comments are not ACTUAL STAYS they are just emotional idiots who get offended over someone's opinion and thoughts. But also telling someone to end themselves over their opinion is downright pathetic. I am sorry u had to go through this, we should not feel as if we are walking on eggshells and be free to give our thoughts. Once again the toxic stays are just emotional idiots, not actual stays. Honestly I'm in a lot of fandoms and I'm mature enough to see what's wrong with each one. And maybe I'm too ambitious but I want each one of them to improve their behaviour in many fields because I care for them and the artists. I don't want them to be perfect on every point but just... you know, having great reputation and doing great things for each other and make our artists proud is pleasing. I feel concerned because I love every fandom I'm in even the Stay fandom. I'll never be ashamed to stan an artist but I can only be ashamed of my fellow members. However, I feel like nobody is listening to me, nobody wants to hear me out and I really feel like crying. I can't change things alone. We need to support each other and grow up. @@skzinthebuilding315 To be honest, I initially didn;t really care about the curry song. I just knew it because of Seventeen and they apologized so to me this was old news. Not to mention that everyone had sung it BEFORE knowing it was " racist" ( saying because I don't find it racist, I only find it stereotypical and harmless, I hope I'm not invalidating any one's feelings) I also saw Weki Meki holding an instant curry packet while singing it in a radio show. So it was really just about curry to them. However, I recently got more affected because of other people's opinions ( which are real as CA is really subjective, like someone finds the curry song offensive and not mocking mudras, while in my case it's the other way round) and also I found this in a Kpop Moments that made me uncomfortable video and then I decided to look up the lyrics and I found a Reddit post about Stray Kids doing so. So, in this post, Indians were very angry and talking about how Han and Chan were from Australia ( Countries with high Indian populations ) so they should have known. And how Bang Chan was singing it loudly, as a Chan bias that stings my heart. I don't know if it's him doing that or others saying it so emotionally that got to me. They were also coming at them for their apology and said " It was so vague. Do they even know who they were apologizing to?" I mean. Here me out: I'm not invalidating anyone. BUT NOBODY except the original artists had apologized DIRECTLY for this. Even in A.C.E's case, their COMPANY put out an apology. NOT THE MEMBERS. Also I've heard it could be as Norazo are very well respected seniors in the industry so apologzing could have gotten them in trouble ( I've heard this only for Wonwoo but I think it can also be applied to others as well) Also I was recently shocked to learn that Chan and IN were actually Norazo fans and had listened to ' Cider' another one of their songs , on a V Live. However, this could mean they genuinely had no idea that it was racist. Otherwise, Chan, who respects everyone as seen in P.A.C.E, why would he hurt someone INTENTIONALLY? Because I can't imagine him going " Oh I am woke. Let me just pick a racist song and get cancelled" Some people still think they haven;t apologized for it. I kind of had the same fear as you with them not knowing their mistake. But according to what a Stay told me recently, it was brought up within the fandom ( as a majority of Stays are Desis) and it was accepted that they had apologized. I don;t think that Stay is a toxic person so I agreed with them. Initially it was very hurt and betrayed. I would listen to ' On Track' and just feel really sad but then I also thought ' How can these people who write such beautiful lyrics be racist?" Like they're not racist. Nor is every idol who sung this song. I know as Indians we fee very angry about CA, I am with you on that. But this case was genuine ignorance. It was also mentioned in the original singer's apology that they were ignorant on the issue and had false information. They said they only wrote ' India' as they thought it was the country that made curry. I also think Bang Chan didn't understand how the song using " India' was derogatory. Based on what he said. he only went to an Indian family's house to eat traditional curry ( My inner Indian is so proud, ngl. Because I've been to Australia and their restaraunts don't really make authentic Indian Food. But that's just the difference in taste buds) So he could have seen this song to be more about curry then about offensive stereotyping of my country. Also I don' t think Shanti Shanti can be explained to someone who's not Hindu ( in other countries) but I also didn't understand that why didn't he understand Namaste ( as he was doing it in his V Live this year ) or he just recently learned it,

@@priyanshasharma3599 the majority of our fandom is international. So there's no way Chan or anyone from skz is racist. I believe it was carelessness and they should educate themselves more about other cultures so they can stop unintentionally hurting ppl. There is a youtuber who has made tons of vids about idols disrespecting indian culture. The song felt really insensitive and they were yelling "shanti" "yoga fire"(wtf) and stuff they aren't educated about. I didn't know that Chan was a fan of narazo cause then he must have seen the apology. I think he knows the situation by now. I just hope they educate themselves and be more careful. It really made me sad when I first saw it.

@@skzinthebuilding315 I know that too. It was very tone deaf and insensitive of those singers. But to come at those groups and call them racist considering it was known as a very famous song in Korea about curry is just really unfair to me cause I think it was an ignorant mistake. I can relate to feeling sad.

The funny thing about the third one is that sometimes about CA the people who are not part of the culture call sometimes somethings CA even thou the people in that culture dont think its CA and then when its CA they ignore their feelings. Thats why i say that if you are not part of that culture or you have not seen people from that culture say its CA then dont call it CA. For the fifth one of the best examples is the but namjoon argument... Like everytime some idol does CA there are always somebody from that fandom saying but namjoon did this, and then some army tells them that yes this happened years ago and he apologised and say why are you bringing namjoon into this. After this they say that army are attacking them and they are not acknowledging namjoons past. But they just bring this up to hide their idols mistakes.

@@notwerkinginthishouse8634 I tried to explain that for the fifth way of gaslighting the best example would be the but Namjoon argument that comes up every time some idol is accused of CA. It basically means that everytime some idol is accused of CA some of their fans say that but namjoon did some problematic things too (years ago and he apologised), in order to shift the focus from their idols problematic behaviour to other things (namjoon and bts). When people say to them that we are talking about their faves and not Namjoon, they say that we are not acknowledging what namjoon has done ( which we are) and then we need to tell them that we acknowledge it, but we are now talking about their faves not namjoon. Then there comes these people who dont know what namjoon had done and then we have to explain to them that namjoon had done x,y and z years ago and had already apologised for it. And badabim badabum the focus of conversation had already shifted from the original problem of idol doing CA/ problematic things to namjoon, bts and army. So i just tried to give an example to the fifth way of gaslighting told in this video.

I feel like it has got worse. People can hear something, but they comprehend something else. People will read something and comprehend something else.

I strongly believe that kpop groups too would prefer the people their fans label "anti's" over the fans that act like this, at any time. They actually think they're supporting their idols, that's the sad part about it. They don't realise that they, more than actual haters, are making the idols feel miserable, because these are supposed to be the people that support them. Not hate others in the group's name ffs
@laylaleena7086

omfg I've noticed this so many times. Finally, someone speaking out about the unintentional gaslighting in kpop, especially when someone wants to defend themselves they keep on unintentionally manipulating the other side to make themselves seem like the victims and villainize the others. This not only is harmful to the people being manipulated but it's bad for the people doing it too. We have normalized this thing of 'only feeling positive emotions' and that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, bcz feeling negative emotions is just as important. Most people don't even know how to process complicated negative emotions and decide to put it at the back of their head bcz they're not supposed to feel that and that is extremely harmful to a person's mental health. Bottling up emotions only results in anger for no reason at all and in worse cases depression. And this is a cycle that when one person successfully manipulates another to think that only positive emotions are valid, this person then manipulates another and this toxic cycle has been there for ages.

honestly its so weird that they call desi culture “ curry “ i mean logically , all asian cultures are “ curry “ culture especially SEA , SA and EA so its very hypocritical for some immature east asians to call our culture “ curry “ ( idk abt NA or CA or WA but i think they are too ) also what i mean by “ curry “ culture is that they have curry in their culture too yet they mock and call us “ curry “ culture .

That is what makes me so angry I am proud to be an Army , it helps me so damn much, i am way happier , bc i am an artist myself, but i am also damaged bc of some specific stuff, some people when they talk sh*t about them, or my inability to pursue my dreams and go to their concert, sometimes even the feeling i can't be with people , i can't have that or that and its so damaging Like its 50/50 I am thinking about learning a language , reading books and stuff like that

Just got here, and it's quite good that you keep it real, but I have one thing to say. Sure, you can feel whatever you want and talk about it and that's all valid, but the main problem to me is when people who are complaining about something want everyone to have the same problem. It's alright that something is a problem to YOU, but it might not be a problem to ME, and I have when some bloke turns around and demands that I take issue with something that is not an issue to me. Sure, in YOUR country and YOUR culture that might be a problem, but in MINE it isn't and I don't want to make it one. The same way that I take issue with things that most find great, but it's MY problem not everyone else's, and I don't expect that the world will follow me on MY own opinion on something. And before anyone comes for me, I come from the most mixed country with the longest and bloodiest history of slavery and I'm very mixed, also not filling any beauty pattern established.
