Howdy all, in this video I go over what was wrong with my Tacoma. It wasn't starting and after testing the starter I assumed it was something else because my starter "worked" when I tested it. What I didn't know was that it wasn't working at full strength and when installed it wouldn't turn the engine. I replaced the started and it fired right up. This all happened after I went ham and pulled my whole bottom dash and key system thinking it was something else.

Man, I just replaced my starter on a 06 Tundra and I noticed the same sharp/faster sound.. wondered the same.. maybe because it's new.. took a day to get used to it but damn feels amazing to have it start right up

I have a 2005 Tacoma 2.7L 4cyl. Every morning, if my starter doesn't struggle to turnover at the first try, it'll click every time I turn the key. Eventually, it'll start as if it never had the issue. I wonder if it has the same problem your starter had. When you mentioned the sound of the new starter being different, I could totally hear the difference as well. Your new starter sounds like 100% compared to how mine sounds when it does decide to work. Maybe my starter is going bad lol! I swapped the battery because even though it passed the battery tester, it was still under 100 CCAs from what the label rated my battery at. And even with the new battery, it still did the same damn thing *click *click *then starts :[ Gonna order a starter soon. Thanks for sharing your video though!

Hello. I think that’s exactly what happened to mine. My truck would start every once in a while. If I tried to start it and it didn’t work I would just keep trying and eventually it would start fine. I kept thinking it was the battery too. Prob with this is you can flood it with too much gas cuz every time you turn the key the fuel pump is sending fuel to your injectors. If you have never replaced the starter since you have owned the truck I would change it asap and you should be fine. Worse case scenario you have a new starter and won’t have to worry about that and if you still have a problem you know it is something else. Lemme know how it goes. Keep on truckin’ 😆

@@SanDiego_VDubLife just swapped my starter out today and now sounds like at 100 percent! Wasn't too bad swapping it out but I am glad I did. No more clickitey clacks 💪

@hector7182 awesome. Glad it worked out! Mine is still working great. I regret taking out the alarm but to many wires to reinstall it.

Oh my bad. Yes. I ended up changing it after wasting a lot of time checking other stuff. Know for future to just replace the starter before messing with all those other things. And on top of all that. Removed the after market alarm for no reason and now don’t know how to reinstall 🙄

Jaaa pretty cool. I came across both cars in an interesting way. The bus was a gift and the truck was my fathers and I inherited it when he passed away about 8 years ago.
