For training for competition, do you have to use all the same terms ie. Platz, outs, etc or can you use other words/sounds/commands? I've been training in public for a couple years now (basic puppy obedience) and ran across your channel. (Love it btw) and am fascinated by that part of the training world.
Loved the video by the way but I’m needing help about how do I transition to just saying the word and him going down because he waits until I have food and do what you did and snaps down fast now I’m trying to transition to just saying the word and he goes down
I have a 5 month old that already knows a good amount of commands... can I teach these faster response ones as well? Or would that confuse the down and the platz
@Chris Code Just watch RU-vid videos and pay attention. Should see my Mali from just watching YT vids, without paying anything. Dog is just as good as this one here. Study, study , study.
@@LoVE.B. Unless they have a difficult dog. Or, some people don't see mistakes they are making with their dog. It's very helpful for new dog owners or owners who haven't done anything past sit, stay and come with their pet dogs. And sadly they buy a working dog and don't understand their behavior.
Real nice job. I bought a course on dog training where the instructor told me not to use treats, because that would be like bribing the dog. He said the dog has to do it because I say so. What is your take on that?
That dog trainer is still back in the 70's. And I know because I was a dog trainer in the 70's! So much has changed for the better in the past 40+ years! Find another dog trainer who has kept up with the times. But please don't go with 100% motivational either. That pendulum swung too far in the other direction. Balanced training is what you should be looking for.
Any reason you teach your own puppy with german commands over in the states? Is it just because of uniformity with the imported dogs? Greetings from the Netherlands!
so nobody else can command your dog in public or at home. a bit of a safety net if you will with so many bad people walking up to peoples houses and coaxing dogs over to the gate to steal them since everyone uses the same english commands.
@@MindfulK9Coach Too bad that doesnt work over here! Dutch and German sound quite the same especially those words. Maybe i should teach mine English instead ha!
I may attempt this with my dog, he's pretty sloppy and lazy when it comes to certain commands unless he knows you have food. I think it's because he's a 1 year old husky/gsd with potential akita.
@@madi7238 mine is exceptionally food motivated and will do almost anything for a treat but the moment you take food out of the equation he's like "nah I'm good now, I don't really want to do that" which is totally Akita personality. We got him on Craigslist and they said he was gsd husky mix but we have experience with Akitas and we see way more akita personality in him than husky. We are going to do that dog DNA test thing in the spring just for fun.
@@Jan-sb2ql I bought a dogtra e-collar. It was the 2 dog system. I programed both boxes to the same dog and have both boxes on there. With that his basic working level is 57, if he's feeling supper dickish then I'll have to crank it up to 80 to get a response. And yes I have it on properly and I have the supper long metal nubs on both boxes. He just has a high pain tolerance and is supper dickish/smart. He just requires you to be on him 24/7 because he pushes every single boundary. Even boundaries that he's learned before he'll go back and push them again later. But I also have a really well trained chihuahua so I have faith that this dog will grow out of it as well.
I have a white female german shepherd/Samoyed puppy how can I get her to follow me and stay by my side at all times no matter what unless others wise without having to worry about her running off??
get a job in a kennel of some sort first to understand basic handling and care of dogs then work your way up. tbh its all experience. idc how many seminars or videos or books you read its all about real life handling.
There are colleges that teach dog trainers. But, it really depends on what type of trainer you want to be. Do you want to teach pets, troubled animals, professional protection, sporting or other things. I recommend deciding that. If you simply want to train pets and puppies the other recommendation below is fine. But, otherwise College and hands on experience is very important. Mind you, a lot of learning can be done online. But, when you move into teaching bite work etc..you can ruin a dog if done incorrectly!!! It happened to me. I sent my dog to a man after all of his spot on obedience. I had been in a head on crash. And I thought letting a professional trainer continue his learning while I recovered was smart. The trainer was actually a friend. My dog was amazing. He was an imported German Shepherd. And when he was done with him, thousands of dollars later, my dog tried to attack my brother. He became so overprotective he couldn't be around strangers. He thought they were all bad. So please, look into a proper school. There are organizations that you can join and get advice. I hope this helps.
This may be a dumbass question, but is there any concern with joint issues from this type of repetitive movement on hard surfaces? Beautiful Mali by the way!
Why does a dog have to go in circles just to get fed...he doesn’t ! Borderline abuse of animals. Having the basic need to eat should not be a form of reward.
Isn't that a typical egotistical jerk. Have to revert to degrading names to call a woman cause I'm out of reach for you to take a swing at..abuser! I'm hardly stupid!
