I read a notice that some were taking a trip to Dubai! They will be reporting from there. I sure hope it's these gentlemen, along with Gul Sher Khan. (forgive spelling) They certainly deserve it!!

Years ago I watched a tv show where they went in to the forests and tried to make friends with a reclusive tribe. They eventually made friends with them then live with them for awhile. At the end of the series they actually brought some of them over to America and blew their minds! One of the places they took them to was a very expensive restaurant.

Egg rolls are from the US, NY ~1930s. Pretty much everything at a Chinese restaurant is really American. If you go to China their food is very different. Lots of KFCs actually 😂

Yeah, and the title says "Japanese" (which they're not). Who knew Japan was in the west? I always thought it was an Eastern country. It's even farther east than China...but I guess it all depends on which direction your going...which would mean that the US is now an Eastern country I guess.

I lived in Beijing and Shanghai in mainland China for 3 years and believe me the authentic food is NOTHING like you find in western “Chinese restaurants”. There were some fast food outlets but not outside of the big cities. You may be more likely to find something like egg roll in Hong Kong but even that would have been due to western influence 😊

Egg rolls were invented by Chinese-Americans in the United States and they differ from the more traditional spring roll that's more common throughout southeast Asia.

@@outerspacecowboyz loempia has its origins in China. From there it travelled to the Filipino and Indonesian kitchens. Indonesia is a former colony of the Netherlands and it came to here with Indonesian immigrants.

Egg rolls are western food. Chinese-AMERICAN food. Not Japanese.

@@j.h.3777 nah, egg rolls are totally Chinese-American in origin. like i said, Spring rolls are Chinese but when they brought the recipe over here, they had to change it a little.

The brandy might be a problem, as alcohol is forbidden in their culture.

@@wolfe6220 the alcohol burns away when it's lit and just leave's the taste, like cooking with wine.

It's a favorite of mine, with lemon, but since I moved, I haven't found a place that makes it nearly as good.

@@flynnstone3580 I had a neighbor that had a Greek diner. My parents were good friends with them. When I was moving out of state the owner gave me one of the special flaming cheese pans so I could make my own saganaki where ever I might be. It comes in 2 pieces with a heavy metal flat pan but rounded up with a rim. Your put that directly on your stove and make the cheese. After the flames are put out the pan rests on another heavy part of the ensemble. It helps keep the cheese hot for longer. You can buy them on line and it's a tool worth having for special occasions.
