HAHAHA you haven't seen nothing Season Of The Witch killed s bunch of kids all around the country by using Halloween masks with inhibitor chips on the back of the head.
Was underrated.. In the last few years all I hear its people that likes it or loves it (or even treat it like its some kind of a classic movie.. and it kinda is.. at least for october)
It took a while because the movie suffered one of the all time "fucked over by the studio" fates in cinematic history. But it's found it's audience and we're getting a sequel.
Taylor Coley I wouldn’t say the descent gets slept on. It is very often in the top 10 best horror in the last 20 years lists, and I don’t know anyone who enjoys horror films that hasn’t seen it. I think Chris has already reviewed it but I could be wrong.
Best film recommendation ever. I had the time of my life - can't believe I had never heard of the film before. I just love the werewolf vampire twist. Truly terrific. Thank you so much!
Both of Michael Dougherty's holiday-themed horror films have become yearly must-watch films for me. *Trick r Treat* is a modern Halloween season classic as far as I'm concerned. And his more recent *Krampus* film is a ton of fun, and has joined *Gremlins* and *Die Hard* as one of the "Alternative Christmas Movies" I watch every year.
You both are made for each other :) My background for my pic was inspired by yours, sir. Thanks for being an inspiration to many newer reviewers on youtube like myself. :)
I seriously love this movie. It's my go to movie for Halloween. Chris introduced this film to me through one of his earlier videos with his wife. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
6:00 hearing that this apparently got a straight-to-home release makes me feel so incredibly lucky bc I just watched this movie for the first time in theaters today without knowing anything about other than just the look of Sam on the poster. It was a great experience.
I remember seeing the trailer for this on the 300 dvd & was frustrated when I never saw it hit theatres. It deserves all the love & praises it's gotten since
It's taken a while, but it's found it's audience and we're getting a sequel (once Michael Dougherty gets finished with "Godzilla: King of the Monsters").
Congrats on your 4 year anniversary Chris and Sam. My wife and I just celebrated our 12th. Awesome video and I've always wanted to check this movie out. I always said oh I'll check it out later, which never happened, but this year I will follow through.
Hey Chris, I myself am a film fanatic, and I find it oddly satisfying to watch you rate and appreciate some of my all-time favorite films such as American psycho and Scott Pilgrim vs. the world. Most people can agree that they are great movies but not truly understand what makes them stand out from many other great films. One of my all-time favorite films that does not nearly get the recognition it deserves is the Moulin Rouge, starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. I genuinely believe it is one of Nicole Kidman’s best cinematic performances of all time. I would love to see your take on it if you could find the time to review it for yourself, I hope you can enjoy it as much as I have through the years! xx
One other reason I heard why this movie did not come out in the theaters is because Superman Returns was not a big hit. They were worried what if this movie would not do well to.
Love seeing both of you doing this together. And an awesome movie that has grown on me over the years. The Trick ‘r Treat maze at Universal was one of the best.
Warner's decision to push his movie back and then release it straight to video: you can be sue it was because some executive or investor didn't like the movie for some dumb reason. And as for the studio making a dumb decision regarding a good movie, well, when was the last time you saw a studio make a GOOD decision? Most great movies we've ever had are either auteur films or at least films made by directors who were able to put their foot down against studio pressure.
Chris as a long time viewer (every since Drive analysis) I really truly enjoy every time your wife and you do a video especially the Halloween reviews I really enjoyed the skits like “afraid of the dark”. Just want to say keep up the great work Chris. \m/
Hey Chris, speaking of horror films, will you be doing an Analyzed Review for Hereditary? I vaguely recall you saying you might do it in your initial review.
I loved this movie so so much when i got my hands on the dvd, i knew they were filming it, and was so excited to see it! You guys made me want to watch it again :)
Wow, I never expected to see someone mention my hometown and the haunted house that my friends worked at in high school lmao Also yes, that is too much
i loved the cabin marathon you guys use to do, any chance well get another one of those next year? and when are we going to be able to buy a copy of you movie chris?
I remember seeing the trailer for this film on the DVD of 300 and really wanting to see it for years, but for a while there it was pretty obscure. I saw it a few years ago and it actually lived up to the years-long hype I built up for it. I think I'll give it another watch this year!
The Trick r Treat Werewolves reminded me of the John J York 80s TV show titled Werewolf. Because of the main antagonist Scorzini aka the Mascot Werewolf ripped his skin off from the scalp on down. Dope AF 🔥
@@Sethpelepchuk Why would he review the God-awful remake? If you're talking about the 2018 Halloween, that's a sequel to the original movie. Not a remake.
You're one of my favorite youtubers, you're my favorite reviewer, even if I get disappointed in a review of a movie I really wanted to see, I'm not disappointed in how you tell it how it is, you're amazing Chris
I made a list of my favorite movies to watch on Halloween and this was either #3 or #2 back when I did RU-vid. So happy you are bringing attention to this great film!!
i remember when i first stumbled across this channel and i was instantly hooked. this ( for me at least ) is my 3rd annual halloween special and i can’t wait for more reviews
It's really funny - you and I align on our movie tastes about 95% of the time. Really glad to see that you two enjoyed this one. It's become a Halloween staple at our house too. Just hits all the right beats.
**SPOILERS** It feels weird commenting this because it's a disturbing aspect of the film and unduly cruel, however it's handled well and adds a little edge to allow this movie cut a little deeper. My interpretation of the School Bus Incident is that all of the children on the bus were born with intellectual disabilities or similar disorders, which caused their parents a great deal of shame, embarrassment and burden. If that weren't AWFUL ENOUGH, the parents decide to pay off the driver to drown the kids in a planned accident, which works but almost gets the driver killed as well. Later on, the young children say that the Rhonda character is an "idiot savant" (commonly austism spectrum disorder or traumatic brain injury that leaves one with intellectual disabilities but also one very strong trait, which is usually a very good long-term memory, strong artistic ability, or some prowess in a STEM field). The other kids imply that is why they choose to scare Rhonda specifically, with the bus incident story and subsequent prank. Once the main bully kicks the lit jack o'lantern into the lake, the zombies rise and kill them as Rhonda escapes. However, she runs into Sam on the way out, who lets her pass along unharmed, in what seems to be a good-natured acknowledgement of her. That implies 2 things: 1) Everything that transpired at the lake was a kind of Halloween karma concocted by Sam. The most-likely-autistic children were cruely murdered in the lake on a previous Halloween, the bullies cruely chose to taunt the probably-autistic Rhonda with that terrible tragedy, so Sam basically allows for a revenge-like scenario to unfold in which the wrongs performed by ignorant people are righted. 2) It is also implied in Rhonda's introduction that she has a lot of respect and love for the spirit of Halloween. She demonstrates this with all of the lit jack o'lanterns at her home and also by telling one of the kids to keep them lit in order to stay safe (she knows the rules!). It is shown earlier that disdain for Halloween and blowing out a lit jack o'lantern is enough to spark retribution from Sam, so he has more reason to kill Rhonda's bullies and even more reason to spare her!
I just watched this movie after years of interest and I think I hated it. I'm not gonna bash it, I love Halloween and scary movies but it just didn't jive with me on any level. I've spent like an hour looking through reviews and comments just trying to figure out what anyone sees in it. If they think it's scary, or it it's just so bad it's good, but everyone just says: "Best Halloween Anthology Ever!" or "My wife loves this one!". I appreciate your deep dive of the aspects of the plot and the particular vignette that was really engaging for you. I like actually reading somebody's thoughts and opinions, as opposed to "It sucked" or "it's great". I do appreciate the movie a little more. Well done!
When this movie came out I knew absolutely nothing about it. I tried watching it and it wasn't what I expected so I wasn't really into it or paid too much attention. I gave it another chance a little while afterward and it really was so much better than I remembered. It was more clever than some horror movies out there. And I'm really, REALLY glad that the Stuckmann's are back at it with another Halloween couples review. This really adds something to the channel and makes it feel more personal. It's great to see the 2 of you bounce ideas and opinions back-and-forth. Don't get me wrong, Chris is a good dude and everything, but this is an example of a man marrying up.
Probably one of my favorite horror anthology movies. As a kid I was terrified of everything about it. Especially the kids on the bus. Can't wait for the rest of the series Chris.
The guy directed this movie is also the director of the new godzilla movie. He has only directed two movies but those two movies has gained praise from critics and fans. And Michael dougherty is a kinda a protégé of bryan singer. He actually did wrote those xmen movies except for the new one
