The late Carl Sagan's quote still holds true: "The nuclear arms race is like two sworn enemies standing waist-deep in gasoline, one with three matches, the other with five.”
The insanity in all of this is that Russia threatens to use nukes on an almost bi-weekly basis. Now they are using people like Musk to make them look as scary as possible. The problem with all this is: Negotiations with such a regime like Putin's - which uses nuclear rhetoric as the first level of discussions - are impossible. Putin can't be "an insane guy willing to nuke the world over Ukraine" and "a rational guy just wanting some negotiations" at the same time. Pick one and stick with it.

Yep, they even said when he was elected that he would start a nuclear war and now it's Biden.....the media is out of control with the bias and hypocrisy....
I said back in Feb/March that the only thing that might end the crisis in Ukraine would be Americans having to deal with gas/energy costs. But the propaganda machine did its job and tamped that as best they could. There is no anti-war grass roots movement anymore. We do have the power to put an end to it, but given recent events and the way we eat up the msm narrative, it looks very bleak.
I’m reading Eisenhower’s biography. He struggled to maintain peace with people around him urging him to use atomic bombs. I went to the National Atomic Testing Museum a few years ago and was horrified. This reinforced my distrust of our politicians and government.
“Were the Soviet Union to sink tomorrow under the waters of the ocean, the American military-industrial establishment would have to go on, substantially unchanged, until some other adversary could be invented. I lived in Hawaii on Oahu when that missile strike they said was incoming. It was freighting people were literally running off the beaches of Waikiki. Tulsi is absolutely right there was nowhere to go.
You know we used to have civil defense organizations/groups in the US. Their function was to provide these types of things. It went away in the 70s for some reason. There were a few lingering groups into the 80s in some small towns. I'm thinking it might be pertinent to dig into what happened to these groups and why.
I was on top of my apt building rooftop having coffee and a smoke. I just laughed and resigned myself to whatever was going to happen. There was literally nothing I could do but laugh at it.
My father was a US Naval observer at atomic bomb tests in Nevada where he observed buildings, animals, mannequins being pulverized. After that he become an advocate for peace. As he was dying of a malignant brain tumor (glioblastoma) he was beginning to write a book to be entitled "Worth Fighting For?" examining all wars in history. He died at the age of 67.
Funny she mentioned the Hawaii missile scare. I remember that morning. I woke up and everyone in the house was freaking out. My little sister was packing clothes and her boyfriend was running them to the car. My little brother was trying to unplug his pc, guess he thought he would be taking it with him, wherever he thought he was gonna go😂 My step mom was covering the kitchen windows with cling film plastic wrap😂 I made coffee, asked what was going on. They told me there was a ballistic missile incoming. I laughed. Nothing we could have done was going to save us in the event we actually got hit. I packed a bowl and took my coffee outside to watch the sun rise. 🤣

True American hero got successfully scared by Russian propaganda and re-translating it. Unless US send its troops directly to fight - nothing will happen. Otherwise you are just playing along rules Russia trying to implement - "If you dont let us do whatever we want - we will nuke you booohooo" Also i will remind you that US is one of the countries that talked Ukraine to give up its nuclear weapons and promised to help Ukraine in case its integrity is threatened. Because of this US is politically and morally obliged to help Ukraine.

Reminds me of exploring the Capitol Wasteland in Fallout 3. In the ruins of a school, you'd find burnt skeletons under desks. According to the lore, children were taught to react to a nuclear blast the same way they would an earthquake. Could always find some fact hidden in fiction.
Yeah, kids were taught to do that in the age of the atomic bomb. Straight fission bombs, like those in Hiroshima and Nagasaki aren't that powerful. Hydrogen bombs, or thermonuclear weapons are vastly more powerful.
When I was in the military during the 1980s we didn't train for nuclear war. We trained for gas attacks. The basic idea was that unless you are in a bunker, you're dead.
Still the same when I got out of bootcamp in 2020. Reality is unless you're in a bunker you're done. But they did say if you didn't get to a safe place, do not look at the blast and it'll burn as hell, but keep going until you're "safe" and lay on the ground covering your head and eyes to the floor. And may God protect us and if we should go, make it fast.

*_“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist._* *_We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”_* ― Dwight D. Eisenhower, Farewell Address, President of the United States of America, 1961
In a private meeting with Woodrow Wilson (US President 1913 - 1921) Colonel Edward Mandell House predicted the banksters' plans to enslave the American people. He stated: "Very soon, every American will be required to register their biological property (that's you and your children) in a national system designed to keep track of the people and that will operate under the ancient system of pledging. By such methodology, we can compel people to submit to our agenda, which will affect our security as a charge back for our fiat paper currency. "Every American will be forced to register or suffer being able to work and earn a living. They will be our chattels (property) and we will hold the security interest over them forever, by operation of the law merchant under the scheme of secured transactions. Americans, by unknowingly or unwittingly delivering the bills of lading (Birth Certificate) to us will be rendered bankrupt and insolvent, secured by their pledges. "They will be stripped of their rights and given a commercial value designed to make us a profit and they will be none the wiser, for not one man in a million could ever figure our plans and, if by accident one or two should figure it out, we have in our arsenal plausible deniability. After all, this is the only logical way to fund government, by floating liens and debts to the registrants in the form of benefits and privileges. "This will inevitably reap us huge profits beyond our wildest expectations and leave every American a contributor to this fraud, which we will call “Social Insurance.” Without realizing it, every American will unknowingly be our servant, however begrudgingly. The people will become helpless and without any hope for their redemption and we will employ the high office (presidency) of our dummy corporation (USA) to foment this plot against America." - Colonel Edward Mandell House

For those of you saying/thinking 'read a book or google it bro' like our foolish friend below, is a sufficient response, you haven't thought very hard about why someone would request a source for such a claim in the first place. Asking for sources isn't being lazy, the irony in that is that I'm instigating further research into the topic to begin with by requesting their source, and I'd like to see the particular source they have read, so that I can see if the claim and source has any validity that should be followed up and validated further by comparison with my own sources and the sources of others that are also intrigued. That does not mean that I haven't looked myself already. It's just that so far, we have nothing but hearsay and no valid claims yet. Good journalism, and scientific journals/papers request sources for this very purpose. It is foolish if you honestly believe someone requesting a source for a claim that is outside of regular conventions is just 'being lazy.'

It's the idea of controlled opposition. They are being handed down the agenda and narrative that they are told to do. They make political circus so people are focused on the wrong things. Not to say women's, non-binary individuals, and so on that their rights aren't important. It's those issues that have not made any progress in years or if there is progress it's been give / take / give / take / give / take on the freedoms and restrictions. The existential threat is what drives our economies around the world - greed... This is true in capitalist countries, communist countries, countries that have monarchies, and so on... wealth and power always funnels into a small group of people. What do those leaders do? They find new ways of consolidating more power and more wealth even if it means destroying the integrity of society. An old, thin little book titled "War is a Racket" written by the most decorated General in US history is a great parallel read & supports a great deal of what is being discussed in this video - despite the book's age.
‘Ol Smedley - agreed. I don’t buy even a 1/4 of what the state controlled media here in 🇺🇸 tells us. We’re fed narratives. David Muir, Lemon, Cooper, Maddow - they’re ACTORS, not journalists. They know how to read a script. Listen to Muir - “toNIGHT, in Milwaukee, SEVEN more cases of”….. or any other state actor. Everyone at the helm right now has NEVER been in a fight, guaranteed.
@@josephbellott3371 "War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses."- Smedley D. Butler
People need to remember a Smedley butler for his exposing of the 1933 Business Plot where he was recruited by some of the wealthiest people in the US including Prescott Bush to lead an army of 500,000 men that would overthrow FDR and install a fascist government but he went and told on them and in the end FDR decided to do nothing because he would’ve been arresting every titan of industry and was fearful it would collapse the economy so he did nothing
What sickens me the most perhaps, is that all of what has transpired over the past few years has been such a shameless display of elitism, incompetence, and greed.
they wont. even if putin orders it. the nuclear teams will fire if they see any signs of first strike or if they're the ones invaded. they know that wasting the world over this is simply stupid. nuclear war is more likely with china whose soldiers are thoroughly brainwashed and will commit to any order. possibly even if they're not ordered and they're facing a loss, some are likely to go rouge and will launch nukes on their own just cause of their misguided sense of pride and nationalism. that's why washington is very confident of pushing russia to the brink
Past few years, oh man it is at least 20-25 years. Clinton took significant amount of money from Albanian loby to support KLA, which was on terrorist organisation list in 1997. Wesley K. was owner of mining companies in Kosovo and he was leading general in Serbia bombing campaign. And so on and so on. American people should start controlling their government and corrupted politicians.
@@comradetrump What was that "bullying"? Was it a just cause to launch a war and kill hundreds of thousands civilians? You can say mexican people are bullied or asian nations are bullied in the US, how would you feel if China started defending their people in US and killed your family in an airstrike?
@@comradetrump That is not true. Which is why a big majority voted to become Ukrainian. Not as big a majority as in western oblasts but still overwhelming.
People, just imagine if your politicians had conversations like this before making important decisions, the world would be a different place. They don't do this, its all about money.
Well, many people around the world irrespective of nationality, irrespective of any Western and Eastern culture, irrespective of any religion try to change political colors, try to change political ideologies, try to change their opinions just to escape their guilt.
In 4th grade (the 1960s) our teacher trained us on how to get under our desks. I remember looking out the window, expecting to see mushroom clouds. These ideas, hammered into our heads every day, had lasting influence. I got over it. Apparently most of my peers didn't. A civilization that prioritizes continual fear and common enemy, whether a foreign power, a pathogen, a philosophy, isn't civilized. And can't "progress." And that's the goal.
It's funny really. We can see mushroom clouds in old films but we don't realize those cameras had filters -- unlike our eyes. If a mushroom happened close enough were we COULD see it, we actually couldn't because it would blind us instantly.
Its like those generations were brainwashed into thinking it should happen with so many years of Cold War. We should be doing everything possible to avoid it, even negotiating with Putin if need be.
I wanted to say so much while listening. I am from an ex communist county. Right now am so thankful to the US for helping Ukraine. In the podcast she said that Russia was not so dangerous because they had hard time holding on to a sliver of land in Ukraine. That is Because of US and EU help. The danger of Putin doing the same to other neighboring countries if he is successful in Ukraine is real. Helping Ukraine is imperative. She said a lot of wise stuff during the podcast but her take on US help is not one of those.
Tulsi is articulate, honest and full of integrity. She recognises that the real enemy is not Democrat nor Republican, but the Military, Industrial Media complex.
Pity her words now don’t match her record in Congress. (She voted in favor of increasing military spending every time she could) She wets her finger, holds it to the air and follows which way the wind is blowing.
@@gcam7103 I'm well aware of that. She's part of a small group of people pushing the narrative for years that Russia and Putin aren't as bad as the media make out. As if they some divine ability to see truth that the rest of us don't have. Anyone who's been observing events from independent sources can clearly see that Putin is a 21st century Hitler since the 2022 'Special Military Operation" began.
🎯 ..but what else is there to do? Unfortunately I fear even this would be ineffective as an "independent" candidate most likely would not have the hundreds of millions in financial backing to provide the amount of campaign marketing to drown out the lies of their opponents. And more importantly grease enough wheels in D.C. to even be able to participate. Everything has been reduced to a bought/sold commodity in this world today. Even our God given right to live some semblance of a life in pursuit of "happiness" ..or even to live at all.
Nah, you dont have to do all that, just call out politicians in your own party who aren't up to par or are part of the problem. Honestly the last 10 years (post-Bush) I feel like Republicans are better at calling out the corrupt members of their party than democrats are. Being a neocon is seen as a bad thing, and Trump republicans are generally anti-war.
