I just LOVE "Cool Cat". This song was made by John and Freddie, John was really into soul and Motown and came up with the idea. Freddie was always receptive to all music and supported John. Brian and Roger wanted nothing to do with it, so Freddie and John did it all, with John playing most of the instruments. Just my opinion, but I think they made an absolute gem.

Freddie Mercury's vocals suited so many genres of music. You've heard him now in a variety. It doesn't cease to amaze me. "Cool Cat' is a lovely example of when the bassist, John Deacon, who loves R & B, funk & soul, gets together with Freddie for song-writing. Only he & Freddie get on board. The other two band members were very rock/rock & roll.

Listen to Soul Brother...Freddy wrote this for Brian May (lead guitarist). The lyrics wrap around all the songs Brian wrote for the group. Great song and Freddy's vocals are amazing. Other amazing Freddy vocals in songs..in the lyric videos for Its Late, Doing Alright and You Take My Breath Away.

I’m sooooo amazed. I’m in awe of his talent. He is one of those few people who got it all. Looks, talent, intelligence, education, very well spoken, generous , charisma and the list goes on. Love that guy!

Such fun you were so thrilled with COOL CAT! If you want to go the love song route, it doesn't get much different than compare/contrast YOU TAKE MY BREATH AWAY (LIVE at Hyde Park) and I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU (lyric video) . Top that off with a piercing set of vocals on ONE YEAR OF LOVE (another Freddie & John collaboration) - just because!

Cash, if you love “Cool Cat”, you’d really love “Exercises in Free Love”. Freddie’s vocals are at the top of his range in that song. It will blow you away!!!! 💕💜💕💜💕💜🔥🔥🔥🔥

John and Freddie were so close, because when John joined the band in 1971 (one year after the other three guys) he was really shy (and he still shy) and Freddie helped him. For John it was so hard to be in a band which members could easily be leaders of high level bands each of them and all the 3 guys were good singers. But John did write a lot of masterpieces including Another One Bites The Dust, Back Chat, I Want To Break Free, Spread Your Wings, You're My Best Friend, and co-wrote a lot of songs with Freddie such as One Year Of Love, Friends Will Be Friends, The Miracle and he also created the Under Pressure (written by Queen and David Bowie) bassline. When Freddie died John possibly fall in depression (we don't know that exactly) and decided to quit the band. Nowadays John lives with his wife, who he married in 1974 (or 1975 I guess). John don't talk with Brian and Roger anymore, but he still manages the financial part.

Good reaction! Freddie sings the whole song in falsetto!! Truly amazing - a singer with a thousand voices!! You should check out a bluesy song called SEE WHAT A FOOL I’VE BEEN (BBC Sessions 1973) LET ME LIVE very gospel like …Freddie, Brian, & Roger each sing their own verses 🎶🎶

This is not my favorite Queen song but I do love the instrumentation and Freddie's vocals. John Deacon (bass) and Freddie wrote this one together and are the only ones that appear on the recording. Roger and Brian were just not in the least bit interested in being part of it. So John plays guitar, bass and drums.

There is another songFreddie did in falsetto, very early: See What a Fool I've Been, written by Brian. There are at least 3 versions on RU-vid, I prefer the earliest 1973 version but they are all good. They used to end some of their early concerts with this song. Awesome guitar work as well, of course, as it was written by Brian

David Bowie had worked on this song with Queen, but just before the album was going to be released he decided he was dissatisfied with his part and had his vocals removed. Freddie had to quickly re-record this. It's one of my favorite Queen songs. You know Freddie loved cats. He had five or six of them and used to call them on the phone when Queen was touring. He wrote a song for one of them, 'Delilah'--it's on the Innuendo Album. Brian also wrote a song dedicated to a cat: All Dead, All Dead.

Bowie had reservations about under pressure this had bugger all to do with Freddie's cats , this was John playing all instruments and Freddie adding the vocals.

Thanks, Cash - I like this one... this is just Freddie and Deacon on the bass - Brian (guitar) and Roger (drums) just hated it.... also, it's interesting that it's really the one song where Freddie does the whole vocal entirely in "falsetto" -- of course he popped into that range during many songs.. particularly the early ones.. I was an early fan - as a teenager in the 70's...and had the privilege to see Queen three times... this came out later... lol

There is one major flaw with this song in my opinion and that is the fact that it is not long enough!
