Archive film footage of rescue operation from the USS Blue Ridge. This film covers Vietnamese refugees as they were rescued at sea by the amphibious command ship USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19). It shows a motor launch that took the refugees from their boats to the USS Blue Ridge.

I was in this 37 people group. When we departed the ship at Subic bay, sailors of Blue Ridge pooled money and gave each of us $20 (this is in 1980). This seed money had grown so much now. Thank you US Navy.

This is so true. I was a boat people. I had a $10 dollar bill in my pocket when I arrived in LAX. It is worth a lot more now. Thank you Blue Ridge. You guys rock!

My cousin was on the boat ĐN0627, lost at sea for 28 days. Thank you USS Blue Ridge for the rescue. Thanks for sharing the video...my cousin remembered the details of the journey to this day.

We are among 77 people that was rescued in the month of April 1981 in South China Sea and we were taken picture with Captain on his Bridge, I am wondering that anyone have any information on it, we would like to obtain picture of our memories. Thanks
