15 years ago......I watched this video and found the best sounding engine of all time. It was actually the music clip that made me remember the video clip. Take this as a huge complement from a rotary RX7 driver here 😎
This video single handedly got me into motorsports almoat 2 decades ago!! I was a young boy who only thought cars were boring because you just drove slow in them (with parents) to go places, became immediately hooked on cars being suped up and drifting around 😊
I was there. At Vallåkraträffen the day and saw this car on the coned track. Have loved Volvo 740 ever since and it really sparked the whole tuning era in my life. Wonderful video that has inspired many over the years. It might not seem extreme today, but back then this was completely insane.
By the way oh, if you ever pull out the old red block by hand, just remember that when you lift it up the car front wheel raised by about 3 in so you better dig deep hahaha very tough motor
@mclanta i agree with ya on the 850 model etc but its all down to whic one i can insure over here in the UK the 2.5 T5 is nearly 3,000 for me to insure where as the S40 2.0 T4 is 1,000 so id rather pick the S40 for now and get an 850 later :)
I would like to know how he did it, which engine did he use, which turbo (at how much pressure)? Also, prolly not the stock gearbox? And the drivetrain, standard or another one? Aaaah I wanna know :-D
@terribrad24 It`s a B230 redblock engine (the most common engine in Sweden, as common as the 350 block in the US) Straight four engine, 2,3L, 16 valve, 116 hp original, that can withstand up to more than 1000 hp ;) I do not know more than that.
I wish we had real Volvo enthusiasts in Dallas,TX. I would love to build a true-name Volvo that'll make these Ford, Honda, & Porsche guys tuck their tails. My first Volvo was an '83 760 GLE RWD V6, which was fun but I think it had a Pugeot engine. I lost that car, but everytime I see this video I think of what could've been.lol. Volvos aren't to be taken lightly. They're demons lying dormant waiting to be tapped. Volvo: motorsports' sort-of underated/sort-of best kept secret.lol
@DILightning The tuning is about as standard as it is with the rest of the volvos. US Spec only has a LPT and no manual so just like us US 850 owners you are going to need to swap. ECU Exhaust and DP will put you at around 300hp - Then you need rods. Just gonna have to get them or risk your motor. More power to you though, the S40 is a nice car, can be tuned but its pretty expensive and not as good a base as a 70 or 850 series IMO. Still an awesome volvo though :-)
