Hey guys, in this video we will show you how to remove or replace the master window switch on a VW Jetta MK6 or VW GOLF MK6. This is for the driver side power window switch which some people call Master Power Window Switch. The front Passenger side will be about the same procedure with less wires.
This procedure might work on:

Got my car repaired at an off shop. Noticed my rear window doesn't roll the way it should. I'm curious how they managed to mess up the switch! This video did not show much detail.

How do you get the master switch out of the plastic piece once its out? I have ordered a masterswitch without plastic so im going to need to put it in the old one

Well as far as being sold in one piece( the electrical box mounted within the plastic trim piece) it's fairly easy. Shove two plastic trim removal tools or similar along the edges, you'll see three flat lines in order and they need to be kept separated from the plastic trim piece. Do that on one side and give it a good pull then repeat on the other side while keeping the other side you just broke free, from going back into place.

........and if you do this on 2014 TDI Jettas, for example.....the front "clip" that he is talking about is a plastic L that does NOT unclip and instead will snap off. The rear of the switch panel has to be lifted out first and this L must slid to the rear of the car. Mine was REALLY tight on my car so I used a 1 foot pry bar as my bone-tools werent working. I only made a few marks that I can see, but One of the tiny tabs did break. That's actually hide-able. You snap the big one at the tip and your DONE on a customer's car.

Unless there's another issue but generally it's the 15 dollar switch. I've broken nearly every switch in my jetta... they don't handle the Arizona heat all that well.

I meant to say a 13 tdi but it wont let me edit. Also, it did end up in a way that looked very obvious that the panel had been pulled off. I might be able to fix it by taking the door panel off. Be careful listening to youtube advise. That's all i can say.

Yeah.... If you try this, you'll leave marks on your car. Make a pro do it.....that way you can force them to pay for any damages.

Im not comfortable agreeing that this video contains the correct way of opening this. I can tell you for sure that if you do what this guy did, you will mar up your door handle in a visible spot...... even using bone-tools. Also it feels like something is very close to breaking when trying this. This doesn't seem like a legitimate removal method. You can call me wrong all you want to, but my tools shouldn't be bending and leaving marks all over this plastic door. He doesn't show you up close at the very top where he was prying.....i 100 percent guarantee you that there is a plastic tool-mark there that can be seen after installing new part.
