❓How to accurately find your type: 1. Study the cognitive functions (links in description of this video and below). 2. Consult people who know you well, in order to establish your actual tendencies without your own confirmation bias. 3. Bonus step: consider signing up for Typing sessions, or follow accounts that facilitate understanding of Type and the functions. Remember, each of the 4 letters of your type do not operate on a stand-alone spectrum with their opposite. It’s not about *clocking over* from a “J” to a “P” by 1%; as all four of an ENFP’s cognitive functions are completely different from an ENFJ’s, and that distinction is important. We each use a Sensing, Intuiting, Thinking and Feeling function, just in different orders, based on our natural subconscious preferences. What I mean by “preferences” is that cognitive functions account for where our attention goes as a first point of reference most of the time (do we first pay attention to what the sense data is telling us, or are we first paying attention to the abstract implications of the sense data? Each type can look at both, just with different tendencies as to what comes first). Therefore, cognitive functions (and MBTI) are not, in essence, behaviour. They are measuring something different from merely outwardly-presented “personality”. If we use MBTI, it is important to learn about the cognitive functions, so as not to box ourselves in or subconsciously limit ourselves/others. Understanding Type can help us understand and love others better in their natural cognitive tendencies, rather than trying to change them. Listen to my podcast episode on the functions here: open.spotify.com/episode/4ZtYhpwRAtC8LyCDy6dukL?si=494c67206a2b492a And my episode about one of the functions, Introverted Feeling (feat. my ENFP sister) here: open.spotify.com/episode/4Y59IWiu918SDoIsTjrvdN?si=e07ff2fa793e47f3

4. Read the book "Remodeling The Mind: Personality In Balance". I may just be shilling for my friend but it really is a good handy resource chock full of newer neuroscience and helpful INFP-style analogies. If your type never "clicked" before, her descriptions of the functions are likely to make you recognize yourself in the ones that apply to you.

The way 16personalities portrays intuitives as smart and sensors as dumb by asking questions like "Are your thoughts complex or simple?". Of course everyone's gonna be mistyped as an intuitive then because no one wants to see their own brain as "simple"

Average intuitive-sensor question: Which one are you must likely to ask? A) What is the meaning of life? B) What is for dinner?
@KarlJeager
@KarlJeager 2 года назад
Funny that this one joke question sent me down the "it depends" rabbit hole, since I have asked both these questions clearly my likelihood of doing so for either is 100%, if we are to alter it slightly so most likely is read as most often then it would depend on factors like do I have someone who commonly makes dinner for me? have I repeatedly encountered dismissive responses when trying to engage in abstract discussions? Do I actually care when form of food I will be eating? Have I learned that asking about trivial things is the accepted behaviour to put people at ease? So whilst a discussion on what the meaning of life or if life has a meaning seems much more interesting, what is for dinner? would come up much more often.

Almost every test I have ever taken said INTJ, but after learning about the cognitive functions I’m pretty sure I’m an ISTJ (I could also be an INFP, but I highly doubt it). It frustrates me how ISTJs are stereotypically perceived as “common”, “boring”, “too strict”, and “close-minded”, almost as if we are two-dimensional. I’m an artist who uses my Ne frequently and likes to explore my own identity through Fi - but it seems like most tests only focus on the ISTJs’ Te and Si, making us seem incapable of being creative or open to new ideas or abstract thoughts. I’m tired of hearing people say they “hate ISTJs” or “find ISTJs extremely uninteresting”, ugh. Thank you for this, Kristin. You make me feel a bit more welcome in the MBTI community despite of all the people reminding me that I’m a “stupid sensor”.
@sarahberkner

My ISTJ dad was an electrical engineer and he's very intelligent and has an excellent memory and can be somewhat creative. He was a little strict though I didn't mind as an ESTJ, and he's gotten better at being open to other people's ideas and he lets his kids make our own decisions of course because we're adults. ISTJ is a common type but it's not like they're in the majority.

I had similar issues when I was starting to dive into the tests. They are not made for me they are made for everyone. It is generalized. That's why they are so vague. Don't take them personally and don't take them literally. Every question/statement is a symbolic representation. So look at it from the point of others. When such a scenario shows up in movies, stories, or conversations, what does it references to? "You are very sentimental." - Usually that references being emotional about things (emotions/values). Like being sentimental about an old cooking pan - because that's what my grandma used to cook pancakes when I was visiting here. In that context, I would strongly disagree. But that doesn't mean I'm not sentimental, I'm sentimental about experiences (memories) I have memories I will never let go of, but the statement/question is not based on my specificly selective sentiment. The second approach I use for tests that ask if I would like to do this or that. I imagine doing it maybe for a day or week, not diving deep into it and seeing all aspects of that scenario. "Would you like to work as a librarian" - For a day, yea sounds fun. If I go into it deeper. Then I would see people coming in asking questions, leaving books around, damaging them, Opening and closing times. The more I create scenario-based on reality, how would it look like in a long run. The answer would be - Ok, maybe if I'm bored. Of course, there is the part that suggests of defence mechanism that questions every statement/question and tries to interpolate in your way just to make you right and them wrong. (Double standarts) But that's if you understand the question/statement, to begin with. -INTP

My istp friend got infp, my isfj mother got infj, and my isfp brother got infp. In my opinion, a lot of people get infp because the letters in general are the most “normal”. Let me explain: Usually the questions in the test are like “do you like spending time alone?” And as the result is a %, even extroverted people aren’t extremely extroverted, that’s why some of them are mistyped as introverts. The N vs S in the test is basically represented as “are you creative and smart, or are you dumb?” (Which I think is disrespectful towards sensors because they aren’t dumb) anyway, and no one likes to say they are dumb, that’s why a lot of sensors get mistyped as intuitives. The F vs T is represented as “are you nice or are you mean?” Considering thinkers as “mean” just because they follow logic, and feelers being dumbasses who aren’t clever (PLEASE STOP BECAUSE FEELERS ARE AS CLEVER AS THINKERS AND THINKERS HAVE FEELINGS TOO). So, as thinkers aren’t mean, they get mistyped as feelers. And the last one, which I think isn’t as visible as the rest, P vs J. Ok so come on. I’m sure you now a lot of “messy” people. You know, that person who says they room isn’t tidy because there’s a book out of its place. Well so even those people consider themselves messy. And as the P vs J thing is represented as “are you organized?” In the test, most people get perceiver. This is my opinion though, and I’m not an expert. Also I have to say I’m an Infp and got typed as infp every single time i did the test. I think this is because of my strong ideals or something like that idk…

Very well said. This sensor vs intuitive thing is quite offensive as well, and the questions often in all those types of quizzes make you give biased answers. Or the fact you don't "wonder why humans exist" in specific doesn't mean you are not going philosophical about a hundred other things. And about the last one you pointed out, if that P doesn't live with a bunch of Js to see the difference or having us nagging them about the mess or compare our ability to stick into schedule, they probably won't see themselves as messy.

Thank you for this funny video. Anyway, 16P is not the MBTI. They do not use cognitive functions. It is not even allowed to mention them on their site and forums. They basically stated that they are a reworked Big Five with the A/T scale added to measure neuroticism. I do not hate 16P as I am a member on their site, but it is quite annoying when it is cited as the MBTI. Like when it is mentioned somewhere that some K-pop members have taken the MBTI, but in reality it was 16P. What is interesting, is that they also use the four temperaments from Keirsey. They just renamed them: Sentinels (Guardians), Explorers (Artisans), Diplomats (Idealists) and Analysts (Rationals).

I hate the infp stereotype so much, people perceive them as dumb nerds, also being an absolute softie introverted person who takes everything personally. In reality, the "soft" ones can be thinkers, the "logical" ones can be feelers. They have strong Fi and their own values, yes, but that doesn't make them overly emotional. Also the logical nerd genius intp stereotype doesn't make sense on every intp. That doesn't make every single of them socially awkward. The J result was screwed by questions like “I enjoy making to do lists and plans”- which I mostly agreed to because I LOVE the idea of making them and making them, USING them is a whole other story making the list is fulfilling enough. Which at the time I thought scribbling on a post it note was a to do list- I have since been informed m is not a “proper list”. For an I result- It was likely because the first time I took it was in lockdown and I have never really been invited to parties and stuff and also going to a party after a busy week would DRAIN ME, because it’s a lot in the sensory world. However inviting friends over and watching a film together and analysing it (namely my INTP and ISTP friend who has quite strong Ni) or Reading a book or just straight up day dreaming in my room and acting it out or a game like D&D would be how I recharge. 1-2-1 conversations with friends where we go all over the place and I can really be in Ne with (dive into the meta verse) 100% would be my natural way of recharging. I do also recharge alone but I’m still interacting with something external but not in the tangible world because I use Ne as my dominant function. But in my head I’m interacting with all these things, and I’m not really alone. Also the fact I do not tend to be drawn to busy bustling atmospheres because it’s too overwhelming and I need to retreat into my imagination.

I totally agree on making vs actually following and completing lists. Making them is easy and makes you feel good, until you realize you forgot something or you run out of time and don't finish it all. I don't get the whole organized/not messy=judging thing generally. There's different contexts: your time, your work/projects, your physical space, your money, etc. You can be organized in one area, but not another. That's why not specifying the context around the question can lead to skewed answers, as Kristin said in the video. Other than Si, what functions would perceived messiness even be tied to?

I love the way she dug into the ambiguity in the questions, and the reality of skewing them based on the type of the person writing the question! Not only have I noticed result skew based on the apparent personality of test question writers, but when i've tried the online tests, i've noticed that if I take the same test more than once the answer many times flips based on my interpretation of the questions used (especially my first and last letter). Had to use the descriptions in the back of the MTBI book I first used to decide with fit best when I originally tried it (not discovering the cognitive functions in any great detail until much later). Seeing her reaction when she says she hasn't created a personality test that over a million people have used piques my interest as to what a Dear Kristin personality test would look like (pinned comment above in mind too) :)

I think 16 Personalities is one of the worst Myers-Brigg/Jungian personality tests out there, because, as you said, it's actually a Big 5 test. It definitely skews towards Intuition (I don't think I've ever seen someone get an Sensor result). That being said, I do think tests can be a good way to get introduced to the 16 Types, just because if a test gives someone a (or as some do, multiple) possible type(s) it gives people a place to start instead of overwhelming them with 16 types and eight functions right off the bat. I was actually introduced to 16 types because I had to take the official Myers-Brigg test for a college class. Granted my professor knew nothing about the functions and literally said "you can change personality types, even from one day to another" (no, that's your mood and/or the situation or possibly some sort of mental disorder), so it wasn't the best intro. However, it gave me a foundation to continue researching it later on down the road and it turned out to be correct (INTJ). So, viewed as a intro, tests have value, but they shouldn't be accepted without other confirmation.

Every single other tests from *everywhere* else (including the one I did in high school without knowing what MBTI was) typed me as ISTJ.

I think I have done this test at some point, as well as some other online tests, and they always give me either INTP or INTJ. And reading descriptions of the types, yes, they sound very familiar, INTP a bit more but there's some resonance with INTJ as well. Though when I took a further look at the cognitive functions, that established INTP as the type. But let's say that the test would have to be really biased for me to not get INTx :) But it is true that several questions here are quite vague or needing a bit more context, or such that the tester might interpret the questions wildly differently from the person doing the test... And I'd imagine the background, the social environment can affect things, particularly the family: a NF growing up in NF family will probably have very different ideas about themselves (or normalcy) that a NF growing up in ST family...though I guess with age some things become a bit clearer, if in different social environments one always ends up acting in certain roles or doing certain things, some attachments to certain descriptions become a bit more evident ("I'm the one who does not make friends easily", "I'm the sentimental one" etc). Oh well, I think these tests have their place to have at least a starting point, though it's probably good to try out more than one test, and maybe at different times... (incidentally, I also got from the video that you have enough friends already, you don't want to be my friend😢)

Seeing that you, as an ESFP, typed as an ENFP, makes me question if the test gave me an accurate result with INFP. And I must say, as an INFP, this uncertainty is stressful. But seriously all this time I thought the website just used the letters as a "wrapping" of sorts to make the 16 types more palatable and easy to understand. It genuinely seems to me that they type based on the letters rather than the functions. Edit: The first part is a joke. I know I'm an INFP and I'm not stressed about it. lol

I think it's almost impossible for an INFP not to ruminate over a personality test result. I myself, when I heard the MBTI community looks askance at 16 Personalities, read more about my result, read more about the other types, learned about the functions, questioned and re-questioned and soul-searched, and finally, after coming to INFP every time, accepted it.

"It genuinely seems to me that they type based in the letters and not the cognitive functions". Yeah it's because they dont. They even claimed as such on their website: "We use the acronym format introduced by Myers-Briggs for its simplicity and convenience, with an extra letter to accommodate five rather than four scales. However, unlike Myers-Briggs or other theories based on the Jungian model, we have not incorporated Jungian concepts such as cognitive functions, or their prioritization. Jungian concepts are very difficult to measure and validate scientifically, so we’ve instead chosen to rework and rebalance the dimensions of personality called the BIG 5 personality traits, a model that dominates modern psychological and social research". Basically they are a BIG 5 test, and not MBTI. They only use the MBTI "labels" for convenience.

What helped me a ton figuring out my exact type was to compare how each function stack reacts when exposed to too much stress. I knew I was one of four types, but I couldn’t figure out which one, so I read about how each of their inferior function affected them during stress - and I related a lot more to one of those types than the three others. Hope this helps someone :)

This is an excellent video, showing how differently these questions can be interpreted, and how purposefully vague they are. However, on the few times I've shared my interest in MBTI, I've suggested taking both 16Personalities and IDRLabs tests as an introduction to the subject as they approach the subject from different angles and together give a more comprehensive result. I know there are many other and better tests out there (some of which I have taken, including the official one), but when dealing with an interested (or uninterested!) novice, these two are the easiest to explain. For example, I persuaded my partner to take both tests, and he was typed as ISFJ by both - the result I had always suspected. After that I went into more detail about cognitive functions, why the tests are flawed, and what the result actually means. He is still most definitely an ISFJ. For myself, I first took a test (no idea which one it was) in 2008. I was categorised as INTP, though I had no idea what that meant. A few years later I developed an interest in MBTI, and took several tests and also researched the functions indepth. I have continued to be typed as INTP (Turbulent, for 16P) and it fits the best for many reasons. I've often questioned the result (for example, I'm not the stereotypical emotionless robot. Though this is not really what being an INTP means, of course!), but have always come to the same conclusion: Ti/Fe makes more sense than any other combination.

PS: Just out of curiosity of experiment once I made the test putting everything in neutral and if anyone is curious too, the result was ISFP XD. And also out of curiosity I have been taking different tests and while I am clearly an ISFJ, I have also got INFJ and INTJ as results, which especially the last one is ironic as STEREOTYPICALLY my poor beloved INTJs are considered as the evil masterminds and ISFJs some kind of saints. Even if my personal belief is that often ISFJs can work like INTJs plotting from behind the scenes and make everything work according to our "evil" plan for the greater good, the work to be done properly and balance in our environment. 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It has also been my experience that Christian beliefs influence the answers to the MBTI questions and can therefore influence the personality type determined. I would even go one step further and say that the characteristics of the introverted cognitive functions in particular are also influenced by this. In the video, if I understood correctly, this theme sounded in relation to Fi and Christian morality. I think there is a lot to discover, especially in the areas of Fi and Ni.

One thing that helps with the paper & pencil versions of these tests that I've taken in the past is that they are much longer than these online ones. They ask a lot of questions, some of which are likely getting at the same personality type aspect, but are worded in very different ways. That way, the test taker is less likely to guess what answer they 'ought' to give based on what they think they want their result to be or what they think a 'good person' or their 'ideal self' would say. They keep the online ones short so people will finish the test on their phone, tablet etc. The problem with this, of course, is like you say - the questions are sometimes vague and difficult to interpret in the way that maybe the test writer intended. I've taken several different forms of tests online and on paper over the years since I was in college. I've either tested out as INTJ or INFJ in these. Because it isn't always consistently one or the other certainly reveals a weakness in the tests. At least they get into the general ballpark of what they might be. I've not gotten E, S, or P results in the 26 years that I've taken these tests in college, at jobs, or for fun. So, at least they are sort of consistent. Maybe it's because I've always been someone who can objectively evaluate things, people and even myself. I don't test as an INxJ because I want to be that sort of person, but because I realize that it's how I really am. Sometimes I do wish that I was more outgoing, less socially awkward, more able to stay in the moment, more genuinely caring about others' feelings, etc. I don't see my true self as being an 'ideal', or 'perfect' person. I know what society says I 'should' say in response to these questions, but I put down how I actually think or feel about what the question is asking instead, even if my answer makes me look like a 'bad' person. I know that how we actually behave in public is not really the same as what we are thinking, so I answer these tests with how I instinctively, or initially think about situations, things, people - not with how I consciously behave in order to get along in society. I have asked the people who know me best - my parents, sibling, wife, cousins, (I would say 'long-time friends, but I don't have any, just acquaintances), etc. about how they've perceived me over the years. Then, I compared what they've said with the descriptions of the MBTI types. The result of this comparison has led me back to INTJ every time.

I've taken this test like 5 times in my life. The only time I've gotten my type (INTP) is when one of my best friends (INFJ) was doing it for me lol You have completely explained ALL the reasons why I never get an accurate result with these tests. Perception and just the way I understand the questions. Sometimes I don't even totally get the question and I tend to answer in the middle for most of them (not only for not understanding it, but also because I think of all the times said scenario has happened and have seen myself going in both directions depending on the situation and have a hard time deciding which is the "normal" go to). Also, just random thought (and an example) on the question "You take great care not to make people look bad, even when it is completely their fault". This, to me, can be interpreted in SO many ways and there are SO many details to take into account. For example, while you were discussing this question I thought about "What if someone agrees because they perceive being "wrong" as bad so them pointing out a fault is their way of caring and making the person NOT look bad?".

As an Intp as well, I too struggled similarly while answering generalized questions like that, specially in the F vs T category. I've worked really hard on my Fe throughout my life to fit in but the rules are different for myself and the people for me. I want harmony and so think the feelings (of others) should be valued but personally, I'm against emotional decision making etc. Answering without specificity had me ticking somewhere middle, even though I kind of have clear views. Basically when your agreement with your own behaviour don't align but they ask your opinion. And then there is always the hurdle of 'but if' scenarios. Intp and Intj are known to retake the test multiple times, I wonder if this is also one of the reasons.

That said, I do think the 3 results I normally get describe me pretty accurately as I can see aspects of myself in all 3 of these types, and I've noticed that my N/S and F/T results tend to stay closer to the middle which can alter the outcomes depending on how I choose to interpret the questions. A lot of the questions I've left in neutral since I always find myself thinking; 'Are these mutually exclusive?', 'Can't I happen to be both in any situation?' - That was how generalized and vague the questions seemed to be. Even though I might've been interpreting wrong, the questions still didn't provide any corrections for however thought process we may have behind the questions, they just kept it highly vague so the test-takers were left in so many unsatisfied interpretations.

I don't know the details because it's obviously because NDA but I can assure you that one question doesn't asses only one thing. Your answer is analyzed in the context of other questions. That's why there are so many questions that may seem 'the same'. Because that's the key to get your cognitive functions to work. That's why the scale is there. Whole MBTI is about preference not one thing versus the other. So it must be interpreted as a whole. If I remember correctly the A and T is to distinguish how the cognitive functions will be expressing themselves. It is about behaviour but let's us look at people from a different angle and see that often we are not that different in the core we are just expressing it differntly.

Also, I hated taking the test, and lacking Ni, my subconscious has nothing to do with it, I was very aware of the problems I had while taking it. Because there's not a right answer, I'm very good at taking tests when I know the answers. If I knew the answer to these questions I would know what my personality type is. Secondly, I'm hard on myself so that shows up in my answers, which I was aware of. Lastly as I said I did think I was an introvert because I was shy so the test thought I was 75% introverted and people in my family still think I'm introverted.

That can help a lot of people who end up putting more weight than the ideal on these tests. 37:16 It was said only as something to be considered, but, as an Si dom expanding on this, I believe Si is one of the least likely to have that. Anything that happened is part of the concrete reality, so Si takes the information availabe, regardless if it pleasant or not. Of course, life is complicated but I think Si has the tendency to face those things and get them accepted/solved.
@fuyuukifukada7491

Oh well, Si is just about how you take in the information but not how to interpret it. IMO a single function doesn't determine your actual personality, especially a perceiving one. I'm an Si dom and this bothers me 1000% because my Fi (I'm an ISTJ) can't allow that. I don't say anything to anyone, but inside my head I would play that piece of memory over and over and over again (retrieving the information and analyzing it) until I'm tired of replaying the segment of that failure anymore, and at the same time think about how to improve myself and come up with a solution avoid the same thing happening in the future (Te+Ne). As for a an incident (be it positive or negative or trivial) that happened long time ago, just one tiny piece of info or related stimulus that is related to the incident is enough to let me recall the whole thing if my memory encoding was strong enough. Honestly, if you do not have an the tendency to instant recall past event with a hint at all, are you seriously an Si Dom?

Also, with questions relating to others perception, self-perception, future confidence, etc. That's testing something that's only on 16Personalities, Assertive compared to Turbulent.

I find often, in tests in general: 1. I don't understand the question. 2. I don't know how to answer the question (e.g. I haven't been in the situation, my answer varies depending on mood, as I'm growing up my attitudes are changing (and I like to think of it as being through my own free will), etc) 3. I don't judge myself accurately. Just in general. 4. Right now, my results usually jump between high Se and high Si. Jumping between Se and Ni, or Si and Ne, I might understand, because they're on the same axis. But not being able to decide whether I'm Se and Si is a bit of a joke frankly.

Girl if you answer the test based on your mood rather than your behavioral pattern, then you're the problem not the test
@cantin8697
@cantin8697 Год назад
@@redbitch3362 Your mood affects a lot of how you analyse your behaviour patterns and how you explain what you do. You also act in situations differently depending on your mood, or even what the specific situation is. You don't rely on Fe, or Ti, or Si, etc. You use a mixture of all the functions. Even for a single situation, you might try and use multiple decider functions, as an example. If you've used Ti a lot recently, you're going to respond to the questions in a way that shows you've used Ti a lot recently -- even if that's not supposed to be your "preferred" function. Safe to say, I disagree with function stacks in general. Also, when tests are _made_ to vary depending on how you feel about yourself or how you have reacted recently, then that is going to be a factor for everyone if you're answering the questions honestly and not just trying to get a specific result. There isn't a set "if you do this, you're good at this function", like tests like to portray. Functions are _explanations,_ not behaviours themselves. This is just another problem I have with them and them being like "Do you do this?; Do you do that?".

Kristin, are you sure you're not an INTP? ;) Just kidding, but you are expressing what I've always thought about these tests. They are not specific enough and we are viewing the words/questions through our distorted lens. Thank you for making this video. My ENTP brother doesn't believe me, and he got ENFJ on the test! I'm an INTP and I would always get ISTJ or ISFJ on the test because I'm "practical" and "reliable--in my opinion.

I got istp last time I took the test (very well knowing I'm an infj). I don't perceive my organization as organized. Lists stress me out big time and keeping a set schedule on paper is a big no. However I've realized coming out of school for the summer that I really need some kind of schedule still. Also I'm not a sensor I don't know where it got that- I think it's because of the question with sometimes doing things that seem interesting in the moment. If I feel like talking to someone I'll do it, that video? Sure. I'm an artist so I'll draw different things that just come to my mind.. so maybe that's where the xSxx came from? I can see the thinking because even my friend when I was explaining cognitive functions could tell I have a lot of ti. But to me even with high ti, it's about how that is used and it really does filter the fe. The test is very inaccurate for me..

It's a website I think I've started from 2 years ago. Test is awful, but the website is good. I've read every single section that's available on the site for all 16 types and then got some big picture understanding what could the main differences between people be. When I learned about cognitive function and Jung's work it was easy for me to connect cognitive functions to all those traits of 16 types so all in all this website can be a good start for absolute "beginners".

coming from an INTJ who majored in psychology in college, i KNOW that the 16 personalities test ABSOLUTELY IS HARDLY an ACTUAL MBTI test. (i see that you specified this a little later in the video now. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) ) NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. the 16 personalities test IS a POP MBTI and HARDLY, BARELY based on actual jungian or myers-briggs typology. instead, it is more based on the big five strata. again, GREAT JOB identifying that in the video. sure, itll give you a rough estimate of your type but; it ABSOLUTELY IS HARDLY a guide for more minute development one might wish to make regarding their character. GREAT CALL on suggesting one work specifically on their COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS (because ALL behavior IS ultimately cognitively rooted) @ the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - (again), INTJ

I used to be obsessed with this test. For me (INTP), two of INFP friends, my INTP friend, my ISFP friend, and my ISFJ friend, the test was pretty accurate. But my INFJ mistyped as an ISFP and my other INFP friend mistyped as an ISTP. So yeah, it’s very hit or miss. I only got my friends’ types after looking at their cognitive functions. I contemplated whether my ISFP friend was an ISFJ for a while and only realized that my INFJ friend has dominant Ni after taking a quiz and looking back on her actions and general personality. For my INFP friend, the ISTP result was WAY off. She once went out in a THUNDERSTORM simply because she “loves the rain”. She can be ruthless about her revenge, so I also contemplated her being an INTP. But she obviously has dominant Fi, so yeah. INFP it is :) I myself spent hours studying whether or not I’m an INTJ or ENTJ because I relate a lot to INTJ/ENTJ characters in stories and I have good Ni Fi and Te (when it comes to my goals, not day-to-day activities). But Fe is the function that pops up when I least expect it and I have a complete lack of Se, so INTP it is

@@malakashraf2801 I honestly have zero fking clue what I am. I could be a damn walking schnitzel with pink caterpillar legs that poses as a banjo player on weekends for all I know. For my entire life I’ve kept to myself living inside a shell of crippling social anxiety and depression fueled by the anxiety that’s ruining my life. I have no social circles so I don’t know what type of people I like and no one who has any idea what type of person I am. My mom doesn’t even know who I am. I’m basically a waking ghost who died 3 years ago after I almost died from my own hand. There are days where I still ask myself if I really am still alive because most of the time I feel dead. I still feel so guilty. Never had a girlfriend or ever even said more than 3 sentences to a girl my age (I wish I was exaggerating). My 25th birthday is coming up next week and I still have no clue who I am, what I want to do with my life, if I can even do what I want to do with my life when and if I ever find that out. I decided today I want to get super fit in the next 6 months and get that job I wanted so I can get health insurance and actually afford a therapist to help sort out my problems but with my track record that’s probably not going to happen. Every time the negative thoughts of failure and not seeing progress just overwhelm me and I give up as usual. Going to the gym or biking are my usual go-to’s for working out but since there are other people there, what happens after a while is my stamina erodes and then I just give up. Nowadays I have carpel tunnel in my hands and I find my only relief is marijuana since the CBD reduces the inflammation and the THC alters my perception of the pain. That’s something new I tried which works well. I don’t want to take it. I want to quit but after about 1-2 weeks of not doing it the pain returns and it drives me insane like peanut butter stuck to the roof of my mouth and it’s constant. It feels like I have glass shards imbedded in my wrists and it makes my finger tips numb. It sucks because I can’t really get a mechanical engineering job with my masters degree that I had for over a year since basically every place does drug tests. I’m hoping that maybe working out will somehow fix the pain and I won’t need it anymore but who knows. It’s not like I could even pass an interview before I started doing drugs anyways since I applied for hundreds and got rejected from every interview due to “poor communication skills”. It’s something I’ve been working on my whole life but still am to shitty at to get an actual job in my major. Every rejection I get stings more than the last. I don’t know how much more I can take. I feel closer to snapping everyday. In summary, Need to quit weed and improve communication skills to get a good job, Need to get a good job to get good medical insurance, Need good medical insurance to get therapy and find solution to wrist pain, Need to get therapy to improve communication skills and solution to wrist pin to quit weed. Basically, it’s a circle I can’t get into. If I could accomplish just one task on that list then I could solve all my other problems on the list but I can’t seem to accomplish any of them without completing one. I’m trapped. I’m hoping that working out will get rid of the inflammation and give me just enough confidence to mask my shitty communication skills but that’s about the best I can do. If it doesn’t work out, I guess I’ll just have to jump off a bridge or something. It HAS to work or I’m done for. There is no hope left for me if it doesn’t work. I need to solve those problems to move on with my life of it’s just going all downhill from here. The longer I wait, the harder it gets.

@@BimmerWon so I am so sorry I really don't know what to say , it's basically like you , the poor communication thing resulting from fe inferior ( yes you're an intp , and I am an istp ) , I have been reading and thinking for a while but I just don't know what to do , I am so so sorry . If this helps anyhow I have similar problems too , I am a medical student but my ni child doesn't want that completely and I feel so unmotivated and I already failed some classes although I have been a good student my whole life and I really hate the disappointment and disrespect in my parents eyes , people change opinions and never remember what you did before ha . This is obviously easier than what you have , many people our age are screwing up and it seems to be increasing , I am not sure about any practical solution for you , like have you tried at least working in another less paying job , at least it's gonna take up time and you will feel less empty , why don't you force yourself to go out anywhere and just socialize , I know it's difficult , I am trying to do it right now , I go for walks or charity and i literally force myself to just spit a word out which could be so draining and can cause me slight troubles cause i don't know what type of person i am either ( fi demon , we will probably never know who we are and we usually go into self hatred phases , both intps and istps) and I don't know what type of people I need around so I end up getting hurt a lot but I realize that's what it takes and same goes for almost every other thing you try to do , have you tried watching Jordan Peterson, he's an intp too and he seems to talk mostly to people as if they all are + as I said it's been increasing for all types , he has been a good motivation for me and dude I know you are probably like "motivational speeches don't touch me" ( cause fi demon) I was like that too for the longest time and still , just try and try to deceive your brain it kinda works, at the end you will crash into the hard truth that the solution is self discipline , wish I could change that or find another solution for you and me but there isn't , I am so sorry . Also again , I recommend cs Joseph , I have not watched many of his intp lectures but I see a lot of intps saying they changed because of him , he really knows about the types and he touches you very very deep like no other and if you ever collect money book a session with him instead of therapy, he fill give you specific solutions that are designed for you in a sense instead of the common things all psychologists say , it's kinda expensive though as I hear cause I haven't got it yet ( will one day , I like his knowledge) , I am not advertising him , he doesn't know me .

Yeah, as an INTJ, my take on routines is that I don't need to stick by one if not sticking by one would yield a better result. I just prefer to do similar physical things each day because it keeps the physical chaos under control and I can just auto-pilot through the tedium. Though I do find myself feeling demotivated when every day is the same and appears to be going nowhere. And also that Se tends to leak out every now and then when I just want to go and escape (which I've been doing recently...) though it's still all very Ni since I have a future plan in mind. EDIT: Here's something. I used to do university assignments kinda last minute. However, at university, I had only recently escaped from a... situation... that had lasted the vast majority of my teenage years and I think it left me rather chaotic afterwards. University was supposed to be the escape but then I found out university was basically full of the same things I'd tried to escape from, and I wound up utterly despising much of what I was being taught so I actually ended up pursuing my own interests and projects over my own university work (I was helping revive a society that was on the verge of complete death because the previous people running it couldn't be bothered, as well as my writing project) because the university work was honestly less stimulating. I also wound up craving social interactions with particular people which is very... unusual for me (but makes complete sense when taken with what had happened previously). I think also there was kinda a... rush I used to get when doing projects last minute. Might have been that Se excitement, though I also planned to allow myself to be able to do everything last minute if that makes sense. All the groundwork would have been done; it was just a matter of writing the essays, and I'd plan for multiple essays and assignments, what order to do them, how much time I'd need etc. As such I didn't feel that stressed or didn't doubt I could do it. Also didn't miss a single deadline either.

They can be a nice, fun introduction into MBTI. Most (if not all) of us who got into it, started with the tests first. So, they have to be doing something right.

Here's my criticism of the video: 1) Going into the test with the assumption that it is going to test your cognitive functions instead of taking the questions at face value is unfair to the test. 2) Answering questions based on your assumed type (ex: "as an ESFP, I ...") instead of taking the questions at face value is unfair to the test. 3) It is unlikely (but possible) for a person to have a complete 100% preference on the dichotomies tested, so it's completely normal for a person to choose some answers from their "less preferred" dichotomy. That's the point of this test - to see where on the scale your preference lies.

Like me and my sister get right results, however my mother get a wrong one (she get isfp tho she is infp) but any way it will give you a overall idea which is pretty helpful if you are new. After then you can reach more and learn more about it. Most people do the same. They keep knowing with time.
