Do you love the Sex Pistols and sometimes scan the internet to see what they're up to these days? Me too! So I decided to compile a video for all of us fans so you can catch a glimpse of their lives in 2024.
I'm glad that all of them seem healthy and happy and are busy doing their own creative endeavors. You'll be surprised at how busy they are! One member is actively involved with two bands and tours constantly. He's very busy and has a show on the Kings Road coming up soon. Enjoy!

Saw John in Folkestone Kent in April 24 & he was in his usual fine form. Yes no pictures/filming but a very entertaining 2 hours. I'm a huge Pistols fan & but took exception to him being quite derogatory towards his old band mates. At this point in his life didn't see any need for that & all of them contributed hugely to the sound & projection of the Pistols! Interesting to hear this contemporary update 👍

Thanks for watching my video! I see he has had to cancel 2-3 shows because of illness, but I think most are rescheduled to July. I'm glad you enjoyed his speaking show. He's getting good reviews. Did he say bad things about the other 3 members in the show? Just curious. I agree. It makes him look bad to say negative things about them at this stage in his life. He needed them to write great music, which they did, just as much as they needed him to be the charismatic front man.

Enjoyed that. Saw John on his tour a couple of weeks back, witty, caustic and emotional, top form he was on and also met him once with Rambo too though our words between us were not friendly in the end as they were both in a bad mood lol. Glen I met in the 80's when he was a boozer, wasn't a happy chappy them days. Paul I've met several times at gigs, nice fella and Steve the once at an airport, quiet he was. Either way, still my favourite band all these decades later.

Think I mentioned this previously. I ran into Paul Cook last October in the off licence - convenience shop . Was he buying some crisps ? I told him I loved him for all the great sounds . I was gigging in the Polish Centre there in Hammersmith for that week but thought yeah I will see Paul again then invite him to a musical all in Polish ha ha . Didn’t see him again…. The show was great . I played my cheap Beatle bass . Romford! A crazy place for them to meet , unusual. It’s Essex or on the edge of Greater London. A market town and I used to buy a lot of records there at a shop called sounds familiar and a stall in the market . Got Stanley Clarke lps there . Went there to PMT last week the guitar shop . That’s Professional Music Technology in Romford , got a guitar for a student. Romford has no shortage of pubs

@@WhyNotGoPlaces yeah Romford I spent every Christmas there from 1972 onwards … it’s a place full of people that work , in construction and office stuff in London so plenty of money and a great shopping centre. Thanks for responding to me & sorry for the delayed response. He did speak ill of them & that was completely unnecessary. They are great musicians in their own right & combined to produce the unmistakable pistols sound! I think had John relented a bit back in 78, they could have made a few more albums. By the way I totally agree with you regarding Spunk. A very different output compared to NMTB, with a less produced rawer sound! Take care from a sunny Uk! 👍😉

He must hate the fact they are doing a gig without him in August. I just read Glen's book, "Triggers." He explained their songwriting process in the book. None of the Taylors, and there were 3 I believe, in Duran Duran were related. Steve Jones also had a rather serious heart attack a few years ago so I assume that is why he adopted a healthier lifestyle. I remember seeing Steve and Paul hanging out at the Masque after the San Francisco show but not Lydon unfortunately. Yes Johnny & Nora tried to get pregnant but Nora was much older than Johnny so that might have been an issue with her fertility, they did raise Ari's twins after she died, so Lydon did get the child rearing experience. I have followed Glen for years on facebook, he seems like a great guy. I love the fact that all the original Pistols are still alive.

The pub you met Glen Matlock in Maida Vale is called The Elgin. I used to live in Maida Vale and would bump into him now and again. Fun Fact 1: Chrissie Hynde also lives in Maida Vale and played an acoustic gig at the Elgin in 2017 Fun Fact 2: Sid and Nancy lived in Maida Vale in 1977 at 3 Pindock Mews W9 2PY, rented for them by Malcolm Mclaren. The area was pretty run down in the 1970s and the small flat was more like a squat. Several photos of Sid and Nancy were taken there. The area is very gentrified now and the property is expensive. You can see the house on Google street view. I used to live on the adjacent street Warwick Avenue in the 2000s and would walk past their house which had no signage on it to suggest Sid lived there. Tbh I doubt the current occupants have any idea either. The value of the property on Pindock Mews is in 7 figures so they might want to keep the fact Sid lived there quiet 😂

Hey 👋 Love your videos about the pistols. So cool that you got to see them back in the day. Regarding the ‘Romford’ lyric in Lydon’s PIL song LFCF - It’s a reference to the first rehearsal that he turned up to with the Sex Pistols back in 1975, where none of them showed up. Their first rehearsal was actually in a part of London called Rotherhithe, which is south east London, just east along the river from Tower Bridge, not in Romford. Romford is an outer suburb of east London in Essex. I say he’s just used some artistic license here as Romford sounds better than Rotherhithe! Or he’s forgotten over time as it was nearly 50 years ago now. I feel for John as he’s really had a tough year. I don’t think any of the band ever really understood him and unfortunately these feelings have just got bitter with time and I doubt that they will ever reform and play together again.
@WhyNotGoPlaces
@WhyNotGoPlaces Месяц назад
Thanks so much for that info. That makes sense now because when I read that lyric I thought it's unlikely they made a plan to meet up recently. I read that they only speak through attorneys now. I think he always felt alone in the band because Steve and Paul were so close, and he always disliked Glen. He was the outsider. Thanks again for the info and thanks for watching!

Lydon's politics and attitude to the other Pistols over the last few years has tarnished my admiration for him. No idea what his opposition to Steve's book dramatisation was, other than jealousy and not being in charge. They are diplomatic about Lydon but he calls them all sorts publicly. By the way if you believe all his stories you're nuts lol.

I agree. I don't think he liked the fact that they could proceed with the series without him. Steve wrote a good book and I'm glad it was made into a series.

Totally 100%, for a man who supposedly doesn't lie he certainly told a few porkies concerning the Pistol series.

Hey all, their is a story that a girl named Sarah dated Sid for a few months in 1976 and became pregnant, giving birth to a boy named Daniel in July 1977. I am not sure how accurate this is but a lady from Lewisham posted an article online saying that Daniel now in his forties is the absolute double of Sid.

I heard excepts that PIL did of Hawaii Release on some podcast dedicated to Nora. It sounded great! John cancelled his Paramount speaking show in Oct. here in Austin due to scheduling problems. Steve's Jonesey.s Juckbox is great. He knows Music and personally a lot of musicians. His interview of Pete Townsend was very good down here @ SXSW for KLOS. That Les Paul from Generation Sex was stolen from a Reggae Band in London who he had on the radio show where he paid him for it. Steve was able to put a down payment for his house from the 1996 Sex Pitol's Tour Filthy Lucre. Steve has had John on the show.

The Sex Pistols were kinda , ahem,, manufactured by McClaren so no surprise that they don’t talk much together much . The Damned were more than punk . I think the Sex Pistols were talented . Cooke , Jones and Glen M could play their instruments . Rotten was a lyricist. But the Damned were very talented and got screwed over .

I love The Damned too. I wish they were touring the Southeast on this current tour. My next video is on The Damned btw. It's about how I met and interviewed them in April 1977 for my fanzine. They were the first English punk band to come to L.A. It was a joyous occasion and their show was fantastic! I have great memories of seeing them over the years. Thanks again for watching!

Manufactured? No they weren't. I recommend you read 'Englands Dreaming' by Jon Savage,the best book by a mile on everything that happened back then.I would also recommend you watch Julien Temples 'The Filth and the Fury'.

@@vortex63 hate to burst your bubble , but ALL of their antics, bar the Bill Grundy show , were contrived by McClaren eg boat concert etc. Pistols were McCLaren and Westwood’s plaything . Many of the other punk groups survived the scene. Pistols didn’t. Pistols main song writer and competent musician was Glen (Cooke and Jones were competent and that was proven later too ) and McClaren got him kicked out all because he didn’t look like a poser . Haven’t we seen that in loads of pop bands on the early 1990s ? Oh the spirit and attitude was real. There was no need for the contrived drama , but it existed and the Pistols were gone after one album . Savage (Middle class twat ) says little that I haven’t said. He wasn’t the only person that was on the scene recording it
