When John Lydon said to me "I'll ALWAYS BE ROTTEN."

Do you love Johnny Rotten? Are you going to see him on his upcoming speaking tour? Then you'll love this video!
I talk about when I met him in Dec. 1987. It's an interesting story because he revealed his true character during this encounter. I also talk about the infamous 1978 American tour and how he riled up the crowd who hated him. It was almost a riot!

I've been a fan of Johnny since 1977, punk was a truly life changing event for me and in 2016 I went to a PIL gig and was about 10 feet away from him, fantastic show but it is a strange feeling standing there and thinking I'm looking at Johnny Rotten.

Thanks for watching the video. I think it's great he still signs his name John Rotten. Must have been a great show!

When I was 17 in 1977, I remember listening to God Save the Queen in my bedroom on a cassette that a friend had recorded for me (it was banned from the radio of course). The impact of the Pistols has always stayed with me. I finally got to see a Pistol a couple of years ago when I saw Glen Matlock in concert. When he did God Save the Queen and Pretty Vacant, I felt 17 again. I think Oscar Wilde said the problem is not that we grow old, it's that we stay young.

What a great memory. Glen is playing on the Kings Road in July. That should be fun to see. I think he always does Pretty Vacant live since that's his song, music and lyrics. The impact of the Pistols stays with me too. When I first put Anarchy on the turntable, I couldn't believe how powerful it was. Thanks for watching!
@paulbragget383

Yes, clever boy Glen. I read (probably in his book), that he based Pretty Vacant on SOS by Abba, and the chord structure of God Save The Queen on Fire Brigade by the Move, before giving it to Steve, who put his own stamp on it, and Rotten, who wrote the lyrics. I love your enthusiasm!

I'm comfortable with a schedule where I do a new one every 10 or 14 days. That's all I can handle at the moment. Sorry! Yes I didn't mention the orange one, but it goes unsaid, I think. Thanks again Tommy!

I became utterly obsessed with The Sex Pistols and the whole Punk Rock Scene from its roots in bands such as The Stooges, MC5 and New York Dolls. To the whole New York scene and beyond. The Pistols sound, Image and unbelievably catchy songs have been a huge part of my life since discovering my father's amazing record collection as a teenager in the early 90's.

Thanks for your channel. You've really been creating must see content that brings an added appreciation to these bands I've loved. (And still do...) Personally, I'd also be interested to hear about your own experiences in music, such as the band Kommunity FK. (Patrick Mata anyone?!) The other day I heard an online interview of Siouxsie Sioux discussing how she made her solo album. It was refreshing to hear! Also if you have other stories about Mary & 45 grave or other female musicians in bands that'd be great!

Thank you so much for watching and liking the videos! As far as KFK, it's so personal to me I might have a hard time doing it. I would want to be honest, and Patrick was not a very nice person most of the time. He did like me in the band though. I think some other members didn't because they didn't think I played well enough, but Patrick always wanted me in the band. Thanks for the suggestion though! I will definitely think about it.

Your a proper fan and it’s great to see your enthusiasm. Think I met Rotten at a rehearsal place Nomis Studio’s in 87 . I was playing double bass there with a jazz singer , went to the toilet and ran into this big punk geezer who went arrrrgggghhh I told him to fuck off . Then thought was that Rotten ? Wished we could have chatted ha ha . We then recorded a Nina Simone song at a studio in Ladbroke Grove. Think the guy that owned the studio was Chaz Jankel? My mate the pianist was in the Chaz Jankel band

Great story. "Big punk geezer". That's funny! I was once at a stop light on Hollywood Blvd. and I saw a group of guys cross in front of us and I said to my boyfriend. "I like that guy's hair." He had a checkerboard pattern on the back. And my boyfriend said. "That's Lydon!" I think Lydon and the band had just been taped being on a TV show. He has been in L.A. a very long time. I used to know where he lived and sometimes we would drive by and try to see him. But that's another video.... Thanks again for watching!
