BIG UP for the review & tips! Two years ago I didn't know anything about cameras at all, not even what the ISO is doing. I had the opportunity to become a rollerblading gimbal operator, so I started learning and practicing as much as I can. You did notice that the video was shot in 2 different days (one month between them);] I was helping my girlfriend finish her master thesis project with some visuals. Everything was shot in normal color profile but with ND filters. In the skating video (shot in two sessions again) there is some Osmo pocket footage. How to use 2xND filters with the Osmo. Since I only have the PolarPro 4/8/16 ND pack, for really bright days or snow, you can put the 16 first, turn on the camera and then put the ND 4 on top. Calm and useful days during the quarantine. A friend and I were about to start doing test shots for a movie fundraising project. So we bought a BMPCC4K & Crane 3 lab gimbal (cheap option, a lot of accessories). Must understand the camera as deep as possible, to figure out the next investment - better lenses. A friend of mine recommend a really nice book - "Behind the Lens" by Jay Holben. Still reading it, but ready to recommend it to anyone who wants to understand what's really happening inside a camera. What else educational can you recommend? Take care & stay productive.

Dylan excellent answer not only to the question but to life in general. I'll be 70 later this year and there's still too much stuff to learn in life. Bought a Mavic late last year and didn't have too much time to learn to fly it well much less get much video. Post production can range from simple to involved so when you can't go outside, you can get a free application like Davinci Resolve and look at all of the on line learning to be able to adjust exposure, color, and more. It's fun and not hard to get started with some training help but don't burn yourself out, learn, take a break, then spend time learning something else new.

Great advice, the one thing I have found is that I have time to waste a whole battery on just set up. We cant fly, so dont put the props on, just practice with the camera setup! The other great bit Dylan touches on is altitude. Just because it can fly at 400ft it doesn't mean you have to or should! Movement at low altitudes creates more drama and interest!👍 Another great #mail Dylan 👏

I agree Dylan, spend this time learning photoshop reading about cameras, etc. At the moment I'm learning Sketchup, I know, nothing to do with drones but I think it will be worth it as I'm hungry for knowledge. This Martin guy is great, a future pro cameraman I'm guessing, the way he uses the golden hour in the skateboard vid is really really nice!! well done him.one more small point which I think you will definitely be using but others may not know, is using the drone camera on its own without it flying, using the stabilised camera on the drone for smooth shots indoors., I know most of you will know this but I'm just putting it out there.see you next time :-)

#Mail Hi Dylan, Really pleased to see you back on RU-vid. Your channel is so informative and entertaining, even my kids enjoy watching it with me! My question is regarding the new EASA drone regulations which were due to be introduced in July. I've seen that the implementation of these new regulations is going to be substantially delayed in the UK due to Covid-19. As part of the new regs, legacy drones (such as my Mavic 2 Pro) can only be flown in the new Open category for a maximum of 2 years (deadline of 30th June 2022). Have you heard, or do you expect that this deadline will also be pushed back to be 2 years from whenever the EASA regs are now adopted by the CAA? Thanks very much, Adam Burton.

Nice one Dylan... during #lockdown I’ve been trawling back through 4 years of footage to create a number of small videos. It’s surprising the clips in there id forgotten about. Investing plenty of time in editing. 👍

Also check out DCL the game on ps4, xbox and pc. You can do races or freestyle mode and even learn acro. Its pretty decent, as a Mavic pro pilot it has given me a new found respect for freestyle/race drone pilots

Hi, sorry this probably is not the right place for this question. Very new to drones..or even wanting one. I want an 'entry level' drone, but having been initiated into budget drones by the American chap. Captain D, it seems most drones need a wifi protocol of 802.11ac. to connect. Is this true here? Am I really that limited if I dont have that on my phone. My phones only 2 yrs old but is 802.11n,g or something. I want a cheap-ish drone to see if I will use one much...I am into videoing/filming so may well want a better drone in the soon. However if you do have a recommendation then glad to hear it.

Mark.. depends what you want to do.. to start flying get something like this.. cheap, doesn't break gives you an idea if you can fly.amzn.to/3bh0kmH if you want camera and videography go for the Mavic mini.. try your phone, if it doesn't work, send it back or change your phone click.dji.com/AHVlIM2Wo-qEpxq_3fS6pA?pm=link&as=0001 I will be surprised if your phone won't work.. let us know how you get on 👍🏻

@@IkoptaUk Hi, thanks. I want a drone to try out at first, get used to it and see if I will likely use it much. I have bought/ordered a Hubson X4, 501ss as it has its own screen, so dont need to use my phone, and good reviews, though a few years old now it seems. Fixed camera, so if I enjoy it as I hope, I will spend more, better camera with gimble etc. Maybe a better phone if necessary. Thanks again.
