Congrats to the whole Camp for a great year. At least Joel got something on that first Sunday. Was very quiet up our way as you know. And congrats to Kaden for that fine mountain doe! No need to send on any swag, but was in a tree stand well before sunrise one time many years back. I felt something ram my head a few times, had no idea what it could have been. Got out my flashlight only to see a hawk sitting on a branch right next to me.

Thanks Tom! If that doesn't get your blood going in the pitch dark I don't know what will. That's crazy! Quiet everywhere seems to be the recurring theme from everyone we talked to. Hopefully we get a good growing season this year, the virus gets sent packin' and everyone can set their sights on a great hunting season for '21!

My CRAZY STORY: We were up at our camp near Canton, PA fall turkey hunting. The weather was getting warm, so I took off one of my jackets and left it with my boy. I went for a walk and flushed a turkey and missed it! I went to reload and realized all my shells were in my other jacket. I headed back to my boy and ran into 40 turkeys with NO SHELLS! I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming! Loved seeing all the turkeys this year.

Fall and Canton.... those two words immediately strike up Apple & Cheese and Wine & Cheese festivals in our minds! Totally can see that crazy story happening to more than its fair share of hunters Nicki... and it never fails to play out that way when you're in that situation. Thanks for sharing and following along with us on this fun-filled NCPA adventure, we enjoy putting the videos together!

Ok, here is my story; back in the late 1970's when I was fourteen, my dad had to work the 1st day of rifle buck and I was unable to go to deer camp up in forest county..I remember fuming all day at school in Pittsburgh that 1st day when all my hunting buddies were up in the mountains hunting.. and being near the city, there was very little to no options locally.. When the bus dropped me off at my house, it hit me that there was a small pocket 3 miles away near my old elementary school and football field that was legal to hunt deer but only with a shotgun slug. I never used a shotgun other than for small game...but I new my buddy up the street had some slugs...I ran up to his house and grabbed three 12 gauge slugs and before I knew it, I was peddling up a main highway on my ten speed bike in florescent orange and a shotgun across my handle bars...I got a lot of double take looks as cars passed me on the busy highway but I did not care, hell or high water, I was going to deer hunt that day.. As I approached my spot and to my dismay I noticed a lot of orange up and down a power line right of way that I was planning on hunting...I then remembered a thicket of grape vines below the old ball field steep embankment that I used to see deer a few times while at football practice back in the day...but barely outside of the safety zone of a nearby church parsonage... sure enough as I was stumbling and sliding down the bank towards the grape vine thicket a buck bounced out and ran down to a creek and started up a steep embankment when I started throwing slugs from the old 12 guage pump - and on the last slug, I got lucky enough to put a good hit on him and he come tumbling back down that hill and lay dead in the creek...I was shocked and in disbelief that there my first ever buck lay ...on a day that I had no hope of hunting at all....My old baseball coach happened to be hunting up at the power line and came down to investigate all the shots.. and he simply could not believe what I just pulled off as he said he sat there all day and did not hear a shot until mine..In any event he transported the deer for me as I road my bike back home and helped me hang it from my basketball hoop in time for my dad to come home from work to see his son grinning ear to ear with his 1st buck ...by that time, there had to be 20+ kids from my neighborhood hanging out looking at the deer... while my dad was mad and grounded me for hunting by myself , I could tell he was pretty pumped as well...pretty cool story for my 1st buck to boot...and that story still comes up when I see some of my old buds from the neighborhood..

Me and my dad were muzzleloading at our WV whitetail camp. We both had been hunting with Hawken ball and cap muzzleloaders. We we’re sitting on the ground about 20 yards apart( I was a youngster at the time). A very nice 8 pt that would of been bigger than anything we ever taken walked basically right up to us . My dad lowered his riffle and shot and only the cap went off. The deer stood there at us at 20 yards looking at us. My dad in a low yell says shoot him son. I had my gun barrel up and but stock on the ground between my legs. I pulled the hammer back while it was in this position and unknown to me the cap fell off. I then aimed and click. The deer looked at me, seemed like laughed, I looked at my dad and we couldn’t believe it. The buck slowly walked off. Not a crazy story but one memory with dad I will never forget. Great video by the way love the deer camp vids.

We used to get a gang together to drive for deer on the second Saturday of the PA buck season. One of the areas we drove was accessible by crossing a creek which was approximately 3’ deep. During our preseason scouting we found a fallen tree to cross the creek which was about 9’ above the water. Twenty-two individuals crossed the tree safely and then it was my fathers turn. Dad was about halfway across and started to loose his balance falling backwards. He started to flap his arms as if trying to fly. Dad was 92 when we lost him to COVID. The memory of him crossing that fallen tree was remembered by him and I at least once every year.

I know I missed your deadline for funny stories but I thought I"d add these two any how. My favorite hunting spot was on a ridge overlooking a pasture. This area had been timbered many years before, there was a big stump with a hole in the top of it. Some of the wives used to make cakes and send them to camp. Well after a couple of nights eating chocolate cake, bacon cooked in bacon grease, and gallons of beer in the evening. I felt the rumblings in my stomach. I knew I couldn't make it to camp in time, about a mile away. I really didn't want to stink up my spot, but didn't have much of a choice, I crab walked back to the stump, and hit the hole perfect. Before my bowels were empty, and it didn't take long, a chipmunk come shooting out of the bottom of the log, covered in you know what, he ran about 15 ft from the bottom of the stump and turned around to look at me, then kept going. Pretty sure I seen his middle toe sticking up.

Happy that you guys were able to post. Hope all is well with you guys. Hope you had a great season! As to my funniest experience in the woods, It actually happened this rifle season. I'm 21 and It was the first time I ever had to go #2 in the woods while hunting. I found the perfect tree blowdown and got to business. As i'm sitting there, with my luck here comes a decent 9 point and two does walking towards me. Unfortunately the gun was slightly out of my reach so I had to shuffle with my pants around my ankles to grab It. Needless to say walking with your pants around your ankles isn't the quietest thing in the woods and the deer were spooked off. Makes me laugh to think It was my first #2 in the woods and that happened. Can't win them all I guess!

Hey guys! First let me say I love what you guys are doing! Great videos all around with helpful info to us outdoorsmen. Honestly the craziest thing that has happened to me and the group of guys I hunt with actually happened this rifle season. A good friend of mine shot a beautiful buck opening day only to have another hunter and his son claim it. The buck clearly only had one bullet hole and I had heard all the shots from where I had been sitting and only one shot was a hit, being the first shot. It’s unfortunate this type of stuff happens on public land but we as passionate outdoorsman Congratulated the hunter and his son and pursued to find more deer. To us it not always about the kill but about the time spent in the woods together. That’s what rifle season means to us.

Unlike picking up the wrong shells, I was out in pouring rain and when I returned home I had to give the gun a good cleaning and leaned it in the corner. While leaving in the morning on the next hunt, I walked into the dark room and grabbed my rifle. When I arrived at the woods, an hour drive later, I noticed that my rifle was missing it’s bolt that I removed for cleaning. I designated myself as a driver that day. Im only 30 mins in but when you showed that stand where you carved your name with your Dad in 1990, that hit hard. LOL That 1990 doe season you were talking about, well I can tell you the dates...It was Dec 10th, 11th, and 12th. Because I was with my Dad at his rock, and on the second day, 12 yr old me shot my first ever deer. I weighed about 75 pounds maybe and to this day it was still the biggest doe I ever shot! LOL He had a good time watching me try and drag probably 120 pound doe off the mountain. Obviously he helped or Id still be pulling. I'm 43 now, and don't live in PA anymore. I've lived and hunted several states over the years, but nowhere compares to PA. Maybe I'm partial to it, but I don't see the excitement, the anticipation, the traditions, the camraderie....I'm gonna continue watching now, but I sub'd and will check out your other videos after this one is over. Craziest story during hunting. My father and I hunted a neighbor's property. I was 11 way back in 1993 and it was my first year to join dad hunting couldn't carry a gun then. Opening morning dad shot a small buck however he forgot his hunting knife in the truck In our excitement to get in the woods. So my dad said stay with the deer and I'll walk to the property owner's wife who hunted about 300 yds away. He no sooner left than I look up and there stood a huge 8 pt. Just staring at me it seemed almost fake. So in my 11 year old excitement I started yelling to my dad and running after him. I finally caught him and told him what I saw he said no way the buck is still there with all that noise. But he looked through his scope in that direction and sure enough there it stood. So we hurried to get Jenny ( property owner's wife) and she was using her dad's open sight .32 special and was 70 plus years old and couldn't see the deer. She was afraid to use my dad's 30.06 so we carefully walked the 300 yds to where dads deer lay and sure enough the 8 pt was still there just watching. Jenny fired about 100 yd shot open sights at over 70 yrs old and shot right under. Dad said hold higher and she did and boom! The deer went down! The biggest buck of her life. Still crazy just thinking about. Love the videos keep them up!

In the late 70’s we were hunting on a ranch out in Llano Texas. On afternoon hunt my younger brother told dad that he wasn’t going to a stand, he was going to walk a fence line behind our hunting camp. While he was walking the fence a doe jumped up and he shot and rolled it the doe got up and ran into a pile of mesquite. Brother walked to the area where the doe ran into and doe jumped up and started running away towards the fence line. My brother follow the fence line and it stated getting dark so he turned around heading for camp. Just before dark three of us went out looking for him, when we caught up with coming back he told the story about him ✊ my down the doe. When we got back to that mesquite are we walked in with lights and found the doe he rolled earlier. We laughed our butts off when he said “ Damn I was trailing a healthy doe!” That trip was his second deer trip. My brother passed away 11 years ago from a stroke. Sure do miss him.

Gentlemen I had been waiting for this to come out. Awesome footage as always. I love the fact that you refuse to throw away the wooden stump in that tree stand. So my story did not happen in the woods but at camp. About 25years ago on the early morning First day of Buck my dad was out front smoking a cigarette while we were getting ready. He was looking down towards the bridge. We had sleet and freezing rain the night before. As he stood there he noticed that the hemlock tree’s were against the power line and had started a small fire. Imagine seeing the Blossburg Fire Dept. arrive all dressed in blaze orange. Luckily my dad, grandpa, two uncles and myself were able to get out before East Creek was blocked and we could not get through. Do you guys ever see much activity from the State ground at the bottom of the hill? Congrats to all that were successful in harvesting this year.

I let them as I was in front showing them the easy way out I stepped in a swap that was covered in snow knee deep in mud. I brother hurried and grabbed both my nephews to stop as they were laughing cause I was stuck. They took the deer drags out and put them on me and started pulling. I yelled for them to stop cause I almost lost my muck boot so I grabbed the top of it and told them to pull. I told them see it’s a lesson always be careful where you step. In South Carolina when driving on all Game Management roads during hunting season, all firearms have to be unloaded and cased in the back seat or in the trunk of the vehicle. Also, handguns have to be unloaded. Once you arrive at your destination to hunt, you are allowed to load your long guns and sidearms when you are entering the woods to hunt.

"Crazy stories, from the WOODS"? More than my Carpal Tunnel would let me type!! Funniest- its 2005, and my son's Very First Season in WV. Hunting out of my Cousin's Stand. About 5 minutes till Day Light, Opening Morning. No wind, quiet, and from over the hill...Grunt..Grunt...then hear what sounds like a bunch of deer, dragging a rake...LOUD, still every bit of 400yrds away! "Son, that s a Buck chasing, right towards us, get ready!" "Ok, Dad!". They get about to the top of the hill in front of us, right at good light. They are in the field edge...but still hauling right to us. The tension/ anticipation was getting intense! "Ty, there he his!" There is a roll coming of the Flat, where stand sits and he was just coming into the field at bottom of this roll. There is only room for one chair, so I am standing. "Tyler? you see him? Hes right there?" "DAD, I cant see him!" WHAT...oh shoot...he is setting down. "Stand up real slow.." the chair squeaked...and he locked up, then after an ETERNITY started moving to our left. The "roll" is fairly steep in that direction. "I can see his antlers, but not the deer." "Well if he follows where the Doe went, he will come up the hill right beside us!" This is when he stalls hangs up again, RIGHT THERE 30 yards away....felt like an hour...every loose board in that stand, is making noise...."Buck Fever" like a Tent in a hurricane.. lol I was getting worried about him, shaking the stand out of the tree. BUCK WAS HUGE- 10 point and TALL. Naturally, the buck didnt follow his doe, instead taking a "Cut Off" route. He saw the whole deer only as it jumped the fence. Stand was shaking 15 minutes later...I was so disappointed he didnt get him. "Dang Son, that was exciting! Wish we could have got him!" "Dad, why didnt you pick up your gun, and shoot him?" FACE PALM...NEVER EVEN CROSSED MY MIND lol Riffle still leaned up on the wall...."I thought you were gonna shake us out of the tree!" "Huh? I am not shaking..see?" Calm as a feller could be...."Wish your Riffle hadnt got rattled loose, from where you leaned it. Did you hear the noise it made? Thats what stopped him I think?" "THAT was you, standing up!" "NOPE...we oiled the spring remember?" Proceeds to hop up and down repeatedly...not a peep. I finally look at my Riffle...the Front sight is now, the only reason it didnt fall to the floor! I felt like my FATHER...a feeling I swore I would never copy! "Eh, its just a squirrel!" , stands up, and 5 deer run off...MY FIRST SEASON 1982 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Now for the last 16 years..."Dad! is the stand still in the tree?" If I miss.."Dad! Did you shake your Scope loose?" Guess I earned it? 🤣🤣🤣 Dang kids!!!

Ok I watched to the end now. Don't know if the contest is over or not, and if it is, Ill share a story anyway. If it isn't, and you pick me to win, give that tumbler to a kid somewhere who hunts. Keep that hot coa-coa nice and warm on opening day... Crazy story.....Maybe not crazy, but fun! I was maybe 15 or 16, archery hunting with my Dad. In my part of PA there was a lot of old reclaimed strip mine operations. Well, I was sitting on the edge of one of these on the ground. There was a test hole maybe 30 or 40 feet deep, like a baby strip pit behind me. A land bridge was maybe 20 yards from me that deer used to cross to get out to the now planted strip mine pit. I was on my stool and I sat with my back against a small hemlock. Super thick, great cover. I heard noise behind me and looked down into that test pit and through the branches I saw black. I thought, "Cool a black squirrel!" They arent as common in my part of PA. Well this squirrel got bigger and bigger, and I moved a branch and realized it was a bear. A BIG ONE! He sat in the bottom of that pit on his butt, yanked a blueberry bush out and was eating berries. Then he started directly up the hill to this really good cover hemlock I was hiding behind. I was too afraid to move because he was 6 paces from me at this point. (I paced it after he left). I heard him physically groan or kind of wheeze like he was tired of coming up this steep bank. He turned and went back to the bottom and He wandered off into the laurel. Maybe 100 yards away my dad was sitting. Also on the ground. (Guess where this is going!) It was probably 20 mins after my encounter and my heart was down to about 250 beats per minute at this point, and I heard this voice. Sounded familiar. OH! It was my DAD! He was screaming! "BEAR YA! GET OUTTA HERE! GO!!!! GO ON!!!!! GET!!!!!!!" Then I heard a noise that can only be described as a bulldozer doing about 100 mph through the laurel. "YO BILLY BEAR COMING YOUR WAY!" Yeah thanks Dad! I heard more footsteps coming and I had had enough at this point. I thought the bear was coming back but It was my Dad with a big silly grin telling me the bear got to about 18 yards from him and as he was on the ground too he had enough and chased it. I showed him the track by me and where I was sitting and I wont type exactly what he said but it was something like "You're (insert adjective) CRAZY!" When I told him I thought it was a squirrel at first he laughed and was telling me I need to stop hunting if I didn't know the difference between a bear and a squirrel. That was nearly 30 years ago and we still joke about the time I thought a bear was a squirrel! By the way, I know the gentleman who killed that bear during bear season. It had a white V on its chest so we are 99% sure it was the same one. And it dressed at just over 550 pounds! So it WAS INDEED a big bear! WOW! I typed way too much, but if someone asks me for a huntin story, light a fire, and grab a beer. I got a bunch of stories in the last 32 years! Thanks for your video guys!

My brother hunts with me every year. Last season I was giving him a hard time about not shooting a deer. He had passed up several but was being picky. Well at my insistence he hunted the food plot and said he would shoot a doe, but wanted to use his crossbow instead of a rifle. That evening at last light he shot a doe, one but said it sounded like a gut shot. We found no blood or sign of a hit. coming back in the morning we found his deer about 45 yards away, the shot was far back, but quartered into the lungs. When we walked up her, we discovered his doe was actually a pretty good 10 point, LOL.

I watched an enjoyed the whole video, thanks guys for sharing , my favorite pass time is to do just that , watch others deer camps , we have good deer hunting in NC but the deer camp thing died quite a few years ago , much of our state is in small parcels like , three acres , so mostly here guys have to hunt where they can and without any moving around ,,on our game lands they leave them open all year and when deer season comes in they lock them up with gates and they do it several miles from where the boundary is , so you have to walk miles in steep terrain just to get to the state land , with all this said there is no use for me to go anywhere , I feed 20 plus deer a day in my yard and here that is legal and hunting bait is legal , and it has been over fifty years and this state has not had one confirmed case of CWD

Hi Bobby- thanks for watching! The PA Game Commission has been attempting to keep CWD controlled here, but it is a disease that has serious consequences if those efforts go unchecked. In prior years it was contained to deer farms. But it seems like we continue to face new reports of cases in the wild. We are hopeful that targeted control measures will eradicate this dangerous disease.

Two, start giving me the dry clothes I laid out. He gave me the towel then started handing me dry clothes. He was worried about my well being but I had everything covered in regards to safety. Too bad You didn't pack in some hot chocolate and sandwiches along with some great coffee , and you probably would have shot that buck and doe that came through about noon . Could have looked great on the wall . With 2 days left to hunt , wouldn't have hurt to stay all day . You might have even bumped a couple on the way out or when you came back in ...good hunting ... I taught my boys that they only got out of anything only what they put into it that's what counts , hunting is hard ,enjoyable work . It does take some labor and effort . Even though we have increased our efforts to cover the property, only the trail cameras and a few young apple trees had close encounters with a bear. Next season!

My first year bow hunting in 18 years and I buy a brand new compound bow …. It was released 3 months prior to me buying it !! Jump ahead after having it set up and shooting it a lot at 20-30 yards !! First day got out late for evening hunt and sat down in my branch and stick blind and 30-35 minutes after sitting 3 beautiful doe come out and my Philosophy is “If it’s brown it’s down I don’t hunt horns I hunt meat”!! I ranged the biggest at 23yards draw back pin on her I bleat she stops at 3 I released I see her jump and ran I’m shaking thinking I hit her it never got close I didn’t realize the arrow didn’t go but 12 yards !! Not sure why went back home shoot my bow again only flew 10-12 yards !! Unbeknownst to me my best friend brother in law didn’t like that I was shooting better than him 3 days prior to opening day and when I and my best friend went to retrieve our arrows he took his Allen wrench and turned down my draw weight on my bow later check told me it was at 42 pounds my mechanical broad heads are rated no less than 55# draw. After telling my friend about it and him telling his bro in law he laughed and told him that I guess he won’t show off shooting again!! We met to hunt a family members private land and he gets out of the truck laughing and I told him that was so childish of him that he was no long allowed nor welcome to hunt land with me !! ODNR Warden had to be called to have him removed from the land we were hunting and I told him a joke is a joke but him messing with my equipment was uncalled for and disrespectful!! A week later he was arrested for putting down a deer with a pistol after he shot it in the spine with and arrow all seen by a warden !! He lost all his equipment, hunting privileges in Ohio for 7years along with restitution amounting to $3200 neither of us have heard from or seen him in the last 12 years and like I said my best friend is married to his sister !! Guess Karma sends you into hiding !!
