I use max for animation, photo rendering, and light modeling. Some simulations as well. It's awesome stuff. No doubt.

I used 3dsmax for a lot of videos on my channel. The four viewports help a lot in modeling and animation. Autodesk should have supported it well after buying Maya.

Most VFX professionals use: Maya, Houdini, Substance, Nuke, Photoshop. Max is rarely used in film, usually you'll find it being used on TV shows or game cinematics. Almost every studio has a Max license though, just in case. It can save the day sometimes

Max is geared more towards hard surface modeling and procedural modeling and Maya more towards single asset modeling and animation. I also feel like Max is often used for VFX, more so than Maya. Comparing modeling capabilities, I would say max has more flexibility on a large scale and Maya has more flexibility on a small scale. I might be wrong as I am not a Maya user. But this is what I have understood from talking to people who use both, Maya and Max. And I would be happy to hear if someone wants to correct me and update on this.

Maya is only on Mac and 3ds max is only on PC. So it depends on what platform you use.

@@viralbible1629 yep. And Max definitely has the newer looking UI. Both UI can be customized as you please. I think Max has a more robust customization though as well. Programs dont usually show their age when they are actively updated. I mean, it is on 2020 version now lol

3d max is nothing without Z brush xd. Funny but Retopology on max sucks. Even Marvelous designer got a decent retopo.

No more blender comments? We're going to have a problem. It's developed largely through word of mouth. Scientists and Engineers have Blender as a choice no matter their funding, and they could be in this comment section going 'hmm cool features' before finding out they can't afford funding for the tools they need. Is that not more of a reason for Blender comments to exist than to avoid annoying some entitled Autodesk nerds? Is it seriously that hard to scroll past a comment? You can't scroll past an ad can you?
