The difference between how many people perceived Sonic positively, or even knew about him enough to care, before the films were practically non-existent compared to other franchises, but the films at the very least put him back on the map for some. It's not that the films were stand-out; they were just the shove into the public spotlight he needed.

I loved the start of the 3d era up until 2008. That's when there were a lot of experimental type games like Sonic heroes, shadow the hedgehog, sonic riders and sonic unleashed. I used to love those days I knew were getting something brand new with a bit of a different flare and the games were polished. You really had to go out of your way to brake the game to see glitches back then. ( not including sonic 06, I have very little to say about that game. I never owned it or played it) to me it's colors on word is where I felt in my opinion is where the series would take a dip for me. I liked generation but I'm not huge fan ( I have to revisit the game I've played it once I liked it at the time) I'm just not a fan of sonic's portrayal now. He didn't seem cocky and brash, knuckles didn't seem like a rival to sonic more like a distant friend ( also he had a coolness and played back nature in SA2). I like how Amy evolved in the series moving forward by far and Tails... Idk. Tails had a sibling vibe. I feel like tails was at his best in Sonic Heroes. That's the Tails I like he wasn't overly scientific,but I understand the changes and that's fine. I hope the next game will be fully polished, no cutting corners. I want to be able to play the game years down🎉

I would like to see the origins of Sonic’s heritage finally explored after 30+ years. We know about ancient echdina tribe. I wonder what the ancient hedgehogs where like. Even better, One of Sonic’s ancestor should be voiced by Ryan Drummond/Jason Griffith in a flashback scene.

Hard to say where we go next or what the next game will be. Origins+ and Superstars already gave us our fill of classic content and Frontiers DLC barely finished this year so I doubt we'll be seeing the next mainline 3D title next year unless they have another group of developers already working on it. I'm thinking we might see a spinoff next. Personally I would love to see another Sonic RPG possibly developed by Atlas since Sega does own them I believe.

Due to how beloved the Super Sonic combat boss fights where, I think they are gonna up the spectacle. Asura’s Wrath is an example of how the boss fights should be in the future. But less QTEs and more spectacle and gameplay.

Sense the theme of Sonic Frontiers is about moving forwards in life. Sonic can help Shadow finally find Peace and happiness. Shadow saves Sage being held hostage by Metal Sonic who is jealous of her being Eggman’s favorite. Similar to how Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man saved Zendaya’s MJ.

It's gonna be wild to see how next year will be since Sonic Superstars is technically the Sonic game of this game and Update 3 being inflated to be another game for this year. Most likely we'll get a small game at least LATE next year. Probably 2D or just another mobile game for Frontiers.

We also have the Knuckles show coming out in the first quarter along with season 3 of prime, not to mention the 3rd movie in December, though that might get delayed.

We can't say much till we get an actual reveal of something

The continuity has been restored, we're back to one timeline so Silver's attempts at fixing the future and CD are no longer a sad joke, Sonic's friends have been restored, (even Shadow albeit slowly) the IDW comics, movies and games have been great IMO and heck we're even getting solid timeline placements, (With Superstars coming after Mania but before Sonic Adventure 1) with all of this in mind it feels like a real renaissance for the Blue Blur. The only negatives I see is Sonic Prime, which has no business being canon since it doesn't try to be and gets the characters mostly wrong and SEGA's continued weird embargo on humans showing up as civilians in IDW.
