I had a pair of those Pittsburgh snap ring pliers. Replaced the stupid spring thing that holds on the jaws with a bolt and wing nut, got a couple of years service outta them
Maybe I should do a video on those... They are actually Universal sockets, and they have a universal tendency to round off about anything they come into contact with! LOL
A multi meter cheap one can come in handy . Also a role of bailing wire. If you get into a fender bender and you have a flapping panel and otherwise the vehicle is still drivable. A police officer can deem your vehicle unsafe with a loose panel. Bailing wire can be used to cinch that down and you can avoid a tow. Head lamp so if you need light you have hands free light. A small tarp if you ever have to work in bad weather on the ground. Duct tape for split hoses. it will hold you till you get some place. A collapsible container if you need water for the radiator you will need something to carry it in. Also a silcox key , a lot of commercials buildings have outside taps and they take a silcox key to open. If you break down late at night and need water for the rad you can open an outside tap. Small 12v operated air compressor (home depot Christmas special).Lastly a safety vest. mesh safety vest is a good thing to have if you have to work on the side of the road or even in a parking lot.
I have the same mentality for my truck tool box. I wanted tools i wouldnt be upset about if they were lost or stolen but i wanted all USA tools. On ebay you can find napa, allen, pro america, kobalt, stanley, craftsman and some others pretty cheap. After i bought some snap on ratchets my matco 88s went in there also. Awesome video.
Several years ago I had a bunch of tools stolen out of my car. That really changed my perspective about the things that I carry with me day in and day out. As long as they're good enough to get the job done in a pinch, they're good enough for me to carry with me. I just don't want anything with me that I'm too attached to.
mdlee52 damn thats terrible man. Honestly i would be a little upset about a couple of the tools because i got such a good deal on them lol!. but i have 4 full sets of tools, home (around the house) , work, truck and working on cars and my truck tools are by far the cheapest. For what i paid for the whole truck tool set i couldnt pass up going all American.
Great video thanks brother. That looks like one of my old tool boxes. Looks like you are ready for just about anything. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother
That watched thing at 4:25 literally was the only tool in the world that would get to a hidden transmission bolt on my explorer when taking the engine out. A real life saver. Was cheap at harbor freight. Withstood an amazing amount of torque.
Thanks, David. I didn't mention it in the video, but I was able to take all of the extra wrenches out and successfully fit the Capri sets in the bottom of the box.
I loath that husky 1/4 inch ratchet set. It was the only set the farm had for a very long time. Love that box I have the same one. Yours has the perfict rust to paint though. Great Mobil box man. Not much you can't accomplish with that.
Yeah, I'm careful not to put too much force on that little ratchet. I think it's pretty well suited for around the house stuff, though. I do like all of the bit storage in the little case.
Awesome box and you got a lot of tiols in it! But please, if you should ever repaint the box, you have to make it look like the tardis! Lol. The only thing that I noticed missing, which most people have laying around, is a rag. I always just keep a rag in my tool bag for gripping, wiping or just protecting my hand. It's something that is often overlooked.
Ya I have both. The box is just doubles or replaced tools or old beat-up tools and the bag is a kobalt kit I bought. I prefer the bag on the go as its fairly complete for its job and I've added other tools to it.
I used to carry around a bunch of my tools in a Craftsman bag. But it got a hole in it and I never went back to it after that. I probably should just get a better quality bag...
Haha ya. Check out the tool kit kobalt sells in a bag it's pretty cheap $50 on sale I wouldn't pay more. Perfect trunk kit or pick a part kit and you can add more to the bag . I want to know what that wrench was you said you found a use for. Never seen one yetunless its the 1/4 one end and 1/2 one end then I think I have seen it. What use did you find for it
I forgot a good size c clamp in case you have to press anything. Like say you have to replace a broken stud on a hub. A tire repair kit too. spare parts are good like a spare serpentine belt. I replaced my old one before it went and just keep it in the car as a back up.
Wait wait. What use have you found for the harbor freight 1/4 -3/8 wrench bit ratchet thing. Edit: I'm on the edge of my seat wanting to know. I've never seen one before. Thanks md
The thing is, I have extra long flex head reversible ratcheting wrenches that accomplish the same thing and they are lower profile. The things that I really regretted about buying that ratchet was that it was close to $30.
Thanks! It sounded a little worse than normal in this video. I was standing right by the microphone and I didn't realize it until I played the video back with earphones.
Yep, somebody mentioned zip ties and duct tape. I already have that stuff, I just keep forgetting to put it in the toolbox. I also think I should probably get a mid-size breaker bar to put in there. Thanks, Pat!
