One of the key motivating factors on “why” that media outlets aren’t mentioning is the sympathy Ezra was hoping to gain, that was the main factor here for killing Alex. With Alex gone and her now a “survivor,” post a horrific attack she could now guilt Jason, knowing he would obviously at the least support her as a friend which is all the hope she wanted or needed. She’s simply a sociopath…
@musicloverchicago437
@musicloverchicago437 7 месяцев назад
No, not a sociopath. As they said in the video, Ezra wanted to resurrect her relationship with Jason and she felt she needed to get Alex out of the picture. I actually don't think she originally intended to kill Alex, when she went to his apartment she left her car running, and when Jason showed up there was nothing horrible occurring, just a heated conversation. Unfortunately the police arrived (because a neighbor thought Jason looked suspicious), and then Jason told Ezra and Alex they should go somewhere to continue their discussion. I wonder if Ezra and Alex had been able to have their conversation privately in Alex's apartment, with no interruptions from Jason or the police, Alex might be alive today. Alex's mental state cannot be dismissed either, he was in love with Ezra and he had at one time slashed his wrists over her, and I might be wrong about this but I think I recall that he said he would commit suicide if Ezra did not break off her relations with Jason.

@@musicloverchicago437There's zero evidence (despite all his journals & their messaged being in evidence) that he ever implied his suicide attempt was tied to her being with him or not. It's just her story. Which we know is false on many, many other counts. Even in the journal passages her own defense chose to try to make him look dangerous or abusive towards her, if you just read them yourself (and w/just the context that's visible onscreen), there's only evidence of him being very thoughtful and kind towards her. Call it psychopathy, sociopathy or whatever, but there's something different about a person who can stab someone in the head, leave them to bleed out, lie to everyone, and show zero signs of remorse. That's a lot more than BPD.
@musicloverchicago437
@musicloverchicago437 6 месяцев назад
@@Suzanne4415 I'm pretty sure there IS evidence in the trial that Alex threatened suicide because he thought he was going to lose Ezra but I don't have time to watch hours of testimony again. But there was the documented suicide attempt for which Jason was called to assist, and then in Ezra's final visit to Alex at his apartment when Jason showed up he heard Ezra tell Alex that "Jason might be able to help" or something to that effect, which makes me think Alex threatened self harm then too. Ezra is very pretty and has a talent for art and writing, thinks more deeply than most young people, and had a sexual relationship with Alex. Alex was in love with her, and I can see why. He probably wanted to have her as his girlfriend, and I can see why. Losing her would be painful. But please don't misread my comments like so many others have done, I am in no way saying Ezra was justified in taking that horrible action that she did. She was rightly convicted of murder and is rightly imprisoned. But I do have sympathy for her that she was in an awful personal relationship situation that would be difficult for even a more mature adult to handle.

@AMunoz-rh9cz
@AMunoz-rh9cz 3 года назад
Best analysis I've heard yet of how it went down. Both these people were very comfortable with engaging in highly controlled cutting prior to the homicide as a way of "draining off" rage. The victim supposedly had some history as an adolescent of being violent but it sounds like he outgrew all or most of it. Though clearly still a very troubled, angry man, he was pretty harmless to anybody but himself; he sounds like he had an extremely elevated potential for suicide. The defendant appears to be a person with a very long history history of complicated sex games; she toyed with Alex this way and he never knew what hit him. Jason, on the other hand, was apparently a stable guy, a medic, a rescuer and protector in a very positive sense who perhaps chalked up her instability to her youth and trauma. When she realized that her side games cost her this meal ticket, she became enraged at Alex. Her history - habit of cutting, obsession with knives and related items ("claws") led her perhaps to initially believe she could control the magnitude of the attack, leaving Alex very cut up but alive. She was too dependant to just leave a bad situation - notice she was still basically living at home? She may have only been capable of destroying an object on who she is dependent in order to leave them but not in touch with that. Alex, in her mind, cost her Jason, so literally " cutting Alex out of her life", as well as revenge for that boiled over. The final straw was the fact that she, like you are pointing out, was enjoying the stabbing itself. I don't think it was a well planned crime but sooner or later she would have killed somebody. I feel sorry for the staff who will have to manage her behind bars....that new haircut she got after being convicted tells us she's already prepping for or playing new games with other inmate's heads.

She reminds me of someone I know except the girl I know didn’t physically kill her boyfriend, she just sat and did nothing for him as he slowly died from pneumonia. She was a licensed vocational nurse and I repeatedly told her to call an ambulance because her boyfriend was having trouble breathing. She guaranteed that she would but waited over a week. By the time he was taken to the emergency room one lung didn’t function at all and the other was estimated to only be able to use 20% of it. I told hospital workers what had happened. I called and told the police. She now owns and runs a home for adults who are too sick to take care if themselves. I’m curious to know how many of her clients have died under her watch.

People don't get amnesia. That's a crock. What is well documented though are the lying jussie smollets of the world who claim to have been victimized for sympathy. And wow is that in keeping with darlie routers character. Did you know she also falsely claimed to be a victim of sexual assault while dating Darin because she felt she wasn't getting enough male attention? And so what about her carotid artery? She missed. She isn't a doctor or surgeon and so of course she didn't have a clue where she was slicing herself. She had sense enough to make the slice shallow enough to not matter though. And honestly the human body is full of nerves and vains. Every cut is going to be close to SOMETHING. I don't believe the mass conspiracy theory that you do. I also don't believe a stranger had any motive to slaughter her kids but spare her. Darlie is a liar, cut from the same cloth as this Monica ezra tall tale teller.

Alex was a supreme deviant just like she was and wouldn't leave her alone. She didn't have the mental capacity to deal with it normally and felt she couldn't make him go away and he kept threatening her with his own suicide. And because he wouldn't leave her alone, she felt he was in the way of her and Jason getting back together. So she flipped and killed him thinking there was no other way. Too many emotions tied with the emotions of sex at that level at THAT age would make many go crazy and it definitely did both her and Alex. They both moved too fast. Normally that situation would just go down as a "crazy and wonderful time in my youth" but it ended up something else entirely. But remember something, Alex was NOT A SAINT. That dude dug his own grave by being a total jerk and not leaving her alone. Not saying her killing him was justified but he "kept poking the bear" and got bit for it, real hard. His death should be a lesson to dudes who get too hung up on a girl when you find someone who's on your sexual wavelength - it will turn your world upside down in crazy and wonderful ways. But when it's taken away from you (they split from you) that high you've been riding will plummet and you will do whatever you can to retain it. Hence his threatening of wanting to suicide if she didn't go back to him. Don't be like Ezra, don't be like Alex. That's the lesson here.

@@antoniamills3000 Ezra was born Monica Kay, later Monica Karlin. Ezra McCandless took her name from Chris McCandless - there were a book and a film written about him. He was an American hiker, a traveler. He hiked North America, living off the land as he went. He found his way to a long-abandoned van in a remote area of Alaska that's nearly impossible to reach during seasons when the waters in the rivers rise. Cut off from any hope of reaching civilization, during the winter, he began to starve. He ate poisonous berries and eventually died. He left behind photos that were later found, undeveloped in his camera along with his body. Chris McCandless has become an American folk hero. It fit well with the type of image Ezra/Monica wanted to portray and people she wanted to emulate. Ezra seems to have a personality disorder, without a solid identity of her own, she is compelled to want to assume whatever qualities she admires in others. On why she killed Alex. I think she wanted him to admit that he did assault her and force her to do things...so that Jason would see that she was not lying about it. That she was a victim, trustworthy and needing him to take care of her. She needed Alex to 'admit' to those lies. And when he didn't, Plan B was to kill him and claim self-defense. That would 'prove' to Jason she was telling the truth. Plan B also entailed killing Alex in his apartment. She didn't count on the roommate being there. So she waited till he left. Then in the middle of trying to convince Alex to pretend to be violent, Jason showed up. Then the police. Driving off to kill Alex on the muddy road was more or less Plan C. The problem being there was no Plan C, so she had to make it up as she went along. She intended to be treated and released, then fixing the crime scene later...then she'd have a memory breakthrough and lead police to the body. It didn't work out as she planned.

Megan Langreck she is not like the slender man girls at all! They are seriously mentally ill and believe their delusions. The courts agreed they are mentally ill and have hallucinations but said they are a danger to society because of those hallucinations. Jodie Arias is not near insane, she just wanted him out of the way just like McCandless did. There is a big difference between someone who will kill for their hallucinations and someone who just wants to get rid of you.

Genius Time not according to the prosecution. She planned it! She got the knife, set up a meeting with him, waited until his back was turn and shot him. While bleeding on the floor she took pictures, stabbed him multiple times in multiple different ways, taunted him and when he tried to crawl away she dragged him back to the bathroom to watch him die; all after having sex with him. Then she tried to cover it up! It was proven by detectives that she had to spent a long time watching him bleed out and torture him while she did so with not only large stabs but also little cuts all over his legs and arms. She was found guilty of 1st degree premeditated murder and barely missed the death penalty. If it was in an enraged state she would have gotten 2nd degree. The slender man girls are not even in a prison, they are in a mental health facility, meaning padded cells, doctors and hard core medication for probly the rest of their lives which means the court recognizes if they were not mentally ill and had hallucinations, they would not have carried out their plan. If you actually look at the two cases from a profiler’s point of view, they are two completely different cases.
