Theres so many references to old animation and clissic cinema I feel like Spark missed here! The weasel gymnast is a direct reference not only to the CHARACTER Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, but also the insane way it was animated!! Her movements all replicate the style and fluidity of the original animation. There's also a point with the horse athlete, a scene where we see him dressed up as death in a chess game with a man. This is a direct reference to The Seventh Seel. There are a lot of ways this movie pay homage to cinema and I love that you made this review! Now that I know about it, i definitely need to see it all myslef.

So I never comment on videos but I just had to for this one. I LOVE Animalympics! We had a recording of it most likely from when it aired on Disney Channel. It is one of my favorite movies from my childhood and makes me feel very nostalgic. I never knew the background of it and never noticed the implied Russia vs US content (our recording did mess up on our VHS tape though. Someone recorded over it and it cuts at that scene). But I absolutely love this movie and it makes me so happy other people know about it besides my family. I usually watch it every year there is an Olympics. And "Go For It" really can get stuck in your head but it's so good! "With You I Can Run Forever" is my favorite though!

The song Go For It literally sounds like it would be perfect as the theme song of a TV or radio station in the late 70s/early 80s especially if the term “go for it” was the station”a official slogan with their name like Go for it with NBC for example! That’s pretty much how radio and TV station songs and slogans worked during that era! Also the identity animation for Lisberger studios that was created in 1977-78 would be one of the main sources of inspiration for the movie Tron especially with the spinning disks thrown towards the end as they were implanted into Tron as one of the key elements of the computerised world! :)
