What to Expect For Your First Massage 

I just got home from my first massage and I feel great, never felt so relaxed in my life. My job is harsh on my body, and earlier my back was hurting now I'm stress and pain free. Got my next appointment booked in 2 weeks. Definitely changed my life.

I remember carrying on quite a conversation with my therapist as I was lying on my back and she was working on my shoulders and I just fell into this sudden trance. I stopped talking and felt very ethereal. And tired. It definitely had a positive effect on me.

My first massage was at the mall I used to work in. On my breaks I would go for walks around the mall and always noticed the massage place at the other side of the mall but always just walked by it. It’s not sketchy at all the beds and chairs are in view behind a glass facing the main hallway. One day I had an hour break so I said why not... And i came out a new person! The occipital bone massage is soooooo nice

Had my first massage today at age 27. One of the best experiences in my life. If you’re thinking about getting one and are not sure if it’s worth it. Trust me, it is. On a side note, I literally told my friend I can’t believe it took me this long for my first massage. I’ve been missing out all these years.

Seriously! I'm glad you're telling people to just let me do my job and that my main goal is to help them relax. If they're trying to help me it's counterproductive.

I definitely have always felt that weird “massage drunk” feeling afterwards so many times. It’s such a weird and unique feeling, but it’s good. I thought it was just me! I got my first massage a few years ago (age 20 I think) and I’ve been addicted ever since. I hate when I try a new place though and they suck, I always feel so ripped off haha. There’s a couple of places that are always amazing though so I stick to them now!

My first massage experience, the masseuse was drying my hands because she had massaged them and I accidentally held her hand for a moment instinctively. Then she thought I was wanting a “Happy Ending” and said-“no honey I’m too old for you” It was so embarrassing because I couldn’t explain to her that I didn’t want that as she wasn’t a confident English speaker. And I’m gay so it’s not like I ever had that intention anyway

I hate it when people say "get naked" when talking about massage. Next thing you know they are going to tell clients to lie "face down, ass up"! 🤣 I don't say "dress down", are we telling them it's casual rather than formal? I always use "disrobe".

It is the best thing you can do for your self. You can get hooked, if feels so good.

I have a question: I have sensitive skin that sometimes burns when products are put on it. Are the oils/creams used at massage parlors designed for sensitive skin? Do I need to talk about this with my therapist before startimg a session?

I would try different massage therapist some are experienced others just starting I find the best therapist are experience in a variety of massage techniques and have a great ambiance low lights meditative music and essential oils just find one that is best for you.

Thank you - great information! I myself was concerned about getting “too relaxed” during a massage - developing an erection, farting or both. Thankfully these things never occurred, but if they did, what’s the big deal anyway? The whole point is to relax and chill and be in the moment. The whole experience is focused on the parasympathetic nervous system - “rest and relax” - so getting an erection, relaxing sphincter muscles and passing gas are all within the normal purview of a good, relaxing massage. Just enjoy the experience!

i just had my first massage will need to go to a differnt place though as i dont think they did a good job. i was propersisioned for "extras" so it was not a good first time experiance. did have the massage as i did actually want a proper massage due to neck pain but honnestly it was uncomfortable. gonna give it a month and try a proper salon. my problem now i dont know if you should ask them if its a legit massage dont want to sound like a perv but dont want that confusion again as i felt awkward for a good 15 mins during

I've heard how some people really like massages, (including some family members) but for me no way ...I can't stand the thought of a stranger touching any part of my body. I'll just deal with any and all pains that I have..... nothing against massage therapists... just my distaste of the idea of a massage.

60mins, It's hardly worth taking your clothes off. 90mins is the best duration. I can vouch to the addiction part. Thank goodness I have great health benefits via my work. I love a full body including glutes and abs. I've had over 300 session thus far. Most therapist have been great, some duds but one never knows. In some sessions there has been a bit of sexual tension in the air but you just enjoy the ride. I have had three offers of a happy ending throughout my massage sessions. One in a massage clinic and two at high end spas. Oh come on, you know it happens. I should say I always have a male therapist; so maybe it's a guy thing. Truly climbing on the massage table at times can be quite the adventure.
