BLTV highlights the big heavyweight title fight between Wladimir Klitschko & 'Merciless' Ray Mercer. Both fighters were at different stages of their careers. but one thing they had in common was ruthless finishing ability
@@silverkitty2503their real personality, their life behind the camera does not interest me, he shows respect in front of the camera without disrespect, today this shitty trash talk becomes nonsense
Give Wlad vitalis chin stamina and slick intelligent skills with his explosive speed and power and you would have the most dominant heavyweight in history
I was desperate for ref to step in, 41 year old Mercer was getting crucified by a 26 year young Klitchko. Sad to see a legendary boxer of Mercer’s class needlessly soaking up brain damaging punishment at that age. Man must’ve desperately needed that pay check. Uncomfortable viewing.
@@Chorbzz yeah I get the Rocky joke, but it’s true his corner left him to die. Mercer took a left hook that momentarily paralysed him flat out on the floor early on. He clearly lost his punch resistance, then still continued as a punch bag till the 6th, disgraceful.
The Brothers Klitschko were tremendous Boxers and awesome Athletes. Respect to them always !👍 I hope they are safe in Ukraine. The Butcher Putin will eventually pay for his horrible deeds against the humble but proud Ukraine!! 💪
Mercer is historically underrated, one of the best chins in boxing history and had excellent skills. AND he said Tommy Morrison hit harder than anyone he ever fought.
Wladimir Klitschko was always a class act. If you faced "Merciless" Ray Mercer and not taking him seriously, that could end badly and Wlad remembered his great misstake in similar tough Ross "The Boss" Puritty so with a seasoned Ray Mercer, Wladimir would be sharp and not careless. Mercer was since Dec. 1996 undefeated in the ring (7-0-0, KO's 6) and had his last fight just 4 months prior this WBO world title fight so Mercer had no ring rust to talk about. Sure past his prime but still one last "hurra". "I got beat fair and square. You can't win them all. I beat the (hell) out of many people myself" - Ray Mercer post fight.
@@starwarsroo2448 Actually for being Mercer, he was in decent condition considering he often came in much heavier. Here he was at the "limit" of acceptble for a world title fight.
@@BooBooDaFoo330 They made them look Mediocre. Only Lennox and Vitali would stand a chance against prime Wlad. And the Lennox fight wouldn't make sense because both were trained by Steward in their prime. Klitschko had the best jab in history, the best footwork in heavyweight history, the best lead left hook in history , the most athleticism and the most power in heavyweight history - the words of Emanuel Steward. Steward said his biggest flaw was not letting his hands go. He supposedly only fought at 60% power when Steward was training him. You can see Steward screaming at Klitschko to let his hands go in the Chambers fight. His chin was fine. He ate an uppercut from AJ that would flatline most. His biggest flaw was mentality, and Steward took that flaw away when he was with him. If Steward hadn't died he'd probably still be champion.
Somebody should have ko'd that ref, that was complete negligence of that "ref",the fighter is supposed to b protected in a fight, morrison took way to many needless punches, and mercer should have known better, that was infuriating to watch somebody being beaten when putting up no defense at all,and mercer loved it
-Mercer NEVER had a “granite chin”, to take a good punch one needs good strong legs and neck muscles. -Mercer beat a green inexperienced Tommy Morrison. His highlights were a very game effort against Lennox Lewis and Holyfield. -He literally threw a fit, a temper tantrum when he lost to Holyfield. Go back and watch the decision. Mercer ran across the ring like a child who didn’t get his way. -He received Karma for what he did to Morrison (by continuously hitting a knocked out man EVEN after the ref put his hands on Mercer to stop the fight), when Shannon Briggs beat him almost exactly the way Mercer did Morrison. Caught him on the ropes and pummeled him until Mercer collapsed. Lol, that’s what you call Karma, Ray. -Lastly, he made the mistake of calling Klitchsco the “European Tommy Morrison” and well… let’s just say, Mercer are those words by getting literally rag dolled in there against Klitchsco.
He was 39 and had fought four journeymen before VK. He had also fought in 1998 before getting hepatitis b.. so def not six years. Agree he was well past his prime but dates and facts are important. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Mercer
Born on my birthday 1961. Fought Klitschko 2002 . Do the math as they say and subtract 1961 from 2002 and you will find 41. Don'tknow where I got the 6 years bit from, sorry.
The Brothers made us feel seen and having worth when everything and everyone were just struggling to build ourself up and come to our senses after being enslaved for so long and not knowing how to live and how to properly build a just and functioning state (that was ridden with russia's agents from up to bottom). Vitaly is a mayor of our capitol of Kyiv for at least around 5 years now. They were our heroes and will forever be, but now in boxing Usyk plays that dear role for us, not to mention all other great athletes, but never did majority of us imagine there will be a time when our greatest heroes would be soldiers defending our existence. Thank you for making this video, friend 🤝
@alkispanou3781 it always seems to be the answer for everyone, apparently every older boxer is better, people never appreciate what it is in a moment until it's gone and every new generational fighter they say the old one is better because of the dislike that's why we have to be content and be appreciative of the moment because when that moment passes you'll look back and keep saying the same s*** over and over again
@@yessirrr5182 very true. Which is exactly what they say about Wlad after kó to joshua. He was already past his prime otherwise héd have demolish joshua 😂😂😂
In what way? Vitali had a better chin. That’s about it. Wlad hit harder, and was far more skilled overall. Vitali was a brawler with a decent engine (for his size) and a granite chin. Look what Chris Byrd did to Vitali.
@@LobotomyMeatyou're absolutely 100% wrong. Yes Vitali had a better chin, but he was anything but a brawler. He was much more of a skilled and well rounded fighter compared to Wlad. Wlad was just more athletic and less robotic. He could only fight one way, moving straight forward and walking down his opponent. When that didn't work, he would lose. Vitali could lead, box and counter with the best of him. Just watch the Lewis fight and how he constantly made Lewis miss and immediately counter. No one had ever done that to Lewis. Look how badly Wlad struggled with the brawler Peter, so much so he never rematched him even when Peter was the heavyweight champ. Vitali fought him after a 4.5 year layoff and absolutely pummeled Peter. Something Wlad couldn't do until several years later after Peter was completely shot.
Vitali was never behind on points after the 2nd round. He retired due to injury against Byrd and Lewis. Vitali was only beaten by injuries. He was never on the canvas during His whole career either. He was leading Byrd and Lewis before the injuries.@@LobotomyMeat
Vitali's potential was better. But Wlad's record (actual) was better. Although it was ultimately injuries, I wonder if Vitali temporarily stepping away was to open the door for a possible undisputed path for his little bro, Wlad. I think Vitali's ambition might have been a little compromised knowing the ultimate goal could never be a possibility if they were both active at the same time.
@@calvinmay35 obviously Wlad had the longer reign, but Vitali definitely faced the better opposition. Wlad would tend to go after the weaker parts of the division. Lewis tops anyone Wlad ever faced, but remember he didn't want to rematch Sanders, Vitali did and destroyed him. He also had the chance to rematch Peter but didn't, even when Peter had the other title Wlad was missing, the WBC. Vitali after a 4.5 year layoff ended up facing him without a tuneup and still destroyed him. Wlad had the opportunity to face Chisora and pulled out. Vitali ended up facing and dominating him. Then dont forget Wlad wanted nothing to do with the undefeated challenger Arreola. Vitali never screwed around with facing bums and no hopers
Wlad got more media attention than his older brother Vitali, but the latter was the better fighter of the two. Mercer, well to be honest, I always thought he was overrated. He got outboxed by a 42 year old Larry Holmes and had other losses to veteran fighters and even journeymen.. His best performances was against Lennox Lewis and Tommy Morrison. I actually thought he deserved a draw against Lewis but that's how boxing goes. Regarding his fight against Wlad, well it was more of an execution than a fight. Mercer clearly had nothing left but a jab and a good chin. However, in his defence, he was 42 years old when he fought Wlad, which was about six years past his prime. At 42, Mercer was a sitting duck for a sharp- shooter like Wlad. Had Wlad fought Mercer anywhere before 1999 instead of 2002, Mercer might have had a better chance. Forty two is old for a boxer!
young wlad was such a beast to watch, he slowed down in his older years but still had a sharp boxers mind that carried him to defend his title more times than anyone.
I do not understand why people thought Mercer was just a guy with a punch. He was a highly skilled pugilist. He had an excellent jab and cut off the ring with excellent footwork. His chin was made of titanium his heart was made of gold and his right hand was made of stone.
I've got a lot of respect for the Klitschko brothers; they're always modest, respectful, and brutally strong in the ring. Mercer is also a super strong fighter.
There is a German boxer, Axel Schulz who fought Wladimir Klitschko as well as George Foreman. He recently stated that when he got into the ring and got punched by Wladimir, that it felt more powerful than anything he has ever felt before. A lose translation would be "Getting a left from Wladimir was like being punched by Foreman's right". Yes, he fought an old George Foreman, but nevertheless that just shows how much power Wladimir had in his punches.
Mercer was the definition of a tank. The punishment he took from Morrison is insane and he just ate it up like it was an appetizer. Best chin together with Foreman IMO.
