WHY AM I STILL SINNING? / Pastor Bob's Coffee Break
Dear Pastor Bob: The Bible stays we are dead to sin, but that is the opposite way that I feel personally. It feels like my fight with sin is just as strong as it was before I was saved! There are so many temptations around me. How am I supposed to stand against them without sinning?

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear the comment “how do I stand against sin?” is…. We are not supposed to “stand against” sin, we are to FLEE it. If you’re being tempted and are surrounded by temptation - REMOVE yourself from the temptation. Ecclesiasticus 21:2 “Flee from sin as from the face of a serpent: for if thou comest too near it, it will bite thee: the teeth thereof are as the teeth of a lion, slaying the souls of men.”

Not a question I even ask. According to a former colleague so many things I do is a sin. Especially listening to Heavy Metal. So I have come to the conclusion that as long as I praise his name ,do right by those I know love and respect my wife and myself I will be good.

Lost all hope. Im not free of anything. Seems like im still filling the void. Its lonely for me and the more i avoid the addition the more i realize i was escaping that loneliness and i dont know what to do in place of that. I play music and write but everybody else is using drugs . .. I'll just leave it at that.

All I want to know is how do I keep from sinning even though I have asked for forgiveness for my sins, but yet I keep sinning the same sins over and over again? I feel so guilty but I keep asking forgiveness when I do these sins. I feel like such a hypocrite, but I want to stop sinning these sins. How do I just stop these sins before I even commit them? Please give me some helpful advice.

"Sin" is a transgression against "god's" rules. If god doesn't exist, neither does "sin" -- there is only "lawful" and "unlawful" and that can change depending on where and when you're talking about. Morality is entirely subjective. You're putting the cart before the horse. First you need to prove (using tangible concrete peer-reviewable evidence) not only that A god exists, but that YOUR PARTICULAR god exists and also prove that he, she or it finds certain actions to be "wrong".
