Once again Lucasfilm have shown how little they understand what made the original Star Wars films special. And the thought process that went into designing and creating that iconic series. George Lucas gave us magic. Disney’s Lucasfilm under Kathleen Kennedy gives us sewerage. They literally turn an iconic ship into a sewerage transporter. Very subtle Lucasfilm!

Lucas did some amazing things and some really stupid things. the other people working for Disney now have done some amazing things and some stupid things. because... we're all human which means we have this duality inside us: dark and light, good and evil, smart or stupid, we all exist on this spectrum. creative choices are just that. i do agree the quality and effort in some shows and films was low compared to others but others have been incredible and i can find good things or bad things in any of them. some "fans" just feed off of hate and complaining or shitting on things. the logic of this video is bad.

Overall lore for the T-47 "Air Speeder" is that it was a light Cargo Hauler. The tow cables shown in ESB were used to latch on to repulsor-fitted containers. (we see Speeder Bikes do this in Star Wars Rebels.) The "Snow Speeder" shown in ESB is a heavily armored and modified version of the original civilian-sold T-47. The arctic variants are literally the Rebellion slapping crap together on a sub-standard airframe and praying it didn't fall apart (which was more than 70% of their Starfighter Corps at the time)
@potatokilr7789
@potatokilr7789 Год назад
Finally someone pointing this out. It makes no sense for these two speeders to have the same (supposedly) jury-rigged blaster cannons as the ones installed by the rebels. Why would anyone feel the need to put massive blaster cannons on shit-haulers? They are just lazily copying old designs because they take us for fools, or are too foolish themselves to understand the complexity of what they ar eworking with.

What gets me is that of all things they could've used it for., they used it to transport ... crap. It is an odd choice considering all the things it could've otherwise transported. They could have said anything else, but they chose literal shit to be their story board choice of what they used it for. It says a lot about the writers opinion of it. And outside of that, the portrayal of it from what I saw here is absurd. It's like they never even tried to understand how their own ships function. For instance, since it definitely could not have had several people pile into the rear cockpit, why didn't they have a container towed. Sure that would be uncomfortable, but it would have made more sense.

rogue one ruined Tarkin, so here's a copy/pasted reply I made to another reply on one of Anomaly Inc's videos explaining this. They're the same points used by Ponstory Games, a youtuber who made two of the best Star Wars critiques. It's long, so bear with me for a bit. Tarkin didn't want the Rebellion to be aware of the Death Star, which doesn't make sense when you consider the fact they could destroy the Rebellion in one shot, which was the tactic used in "Return Of The Jedi" and was even attempted BY TARKIN in "A New Hope". Also, since the Empire was planning to test the weapon anyway, why is it a problem that the Rebels get together? Even if the weapons test was postponed, the outcome would still be the same. The Rebels would still make a fleet and try to fight them. What difference does it make when the Rebels discover the existence of the Death Star? The bigger problem would be that the Rebels already found the weakness of the Death Star, which he never mentions because he's not aware of it yet. Tarkin should know that a weapons test will convince and push the Rebels to assemble a fleet a lot quicker than the simple knowledge that the Death Star exists, which would help the Empire more than it would the Rebels. The Empire consists of power-hungry tyrants, so why would they be afraid of the Rebels ganging up on them. Tarkin arbitrarily blew up Alderaan in ANH, he had no care at all for who or what was on it, he'd destroy it for fun just to show his power. If they were realistically portrayed, they'd tell the Rebels: "You either send us all of your fleets immediately or we'll blow up random planets. In fact, start rounding up each other's fleets and hand them over and if anyone opposes our orders , you fight them for us or we'll destroy your homeworlds". Why would they build it if they were worried about the Senate discovering the existence of the Death Star? Why do they even care what the Senate thinks when they can disband it at the drop of a hat? Which happens in ANH. Tarkin's portrayal in Rogue One contradicts his actions and portrayal in ANH.

Weird how no one knows the origin of this famous ship, it was originally a forklift/towtruck for shipbuilding yards in space, it's even mentioned in Empire, Luke tells everyone when fighting the walkers to "use their tow cables" and seeing as how the rebels had limited resources they attached guns on the sides so it is basically a "technical"

True, the Falcon was in episode 3, but two things. First, the YT-1300 was mass-produced as a freighter and it could easily be another one operating during the clone-wars. Second, canonically, that WAS the falcon in episode 3 because it's an older model, however importantly Lando HEAVILY upgraded it with top of the line systems and restored it to near mint condition as his personal transport and smuggling vessel before Han won it in a game of sabaac (in the old canon, Lando said he could pick any ship on the lot of his starship junkyard and intended Han to pick one of the shiny hot-rod type ships and not the ugly looking freighter he was secretly upgrading with military grade hardware.)

2:03-2:27 Actually, there's a possible explanation for why Hoth, and Jedha were the way they are. Here's a little EU Lore, mixed with what was directed mentioned in Empire Strikes Back itself. At Hoth, The Rebels were protecting their base with a powerful deflector shield, so that in case The Empire discovered their location, they couldn't just shoot down to the planet's surface, and blow up the rebel base from orbit (A tactic known as "Orbital Bombardment"). Due to Admiral Ozzel's complete incompetence (Which Vader took care of soon after), The Rebels were alerted to an Imperial Attack, and raised the shield, thus forcing The Empire to attack them on the ground with their walkers. Why couldn't The Empire fly through the shields with The Star Destroyers, but the walkers could get through? Here's where The EU lore comes in. In the lore, not only could energy weapons not break through the shields, hence why they were used defensively in the first place, but ships, and vehicles with Repulsorlift Technology (Think Luke's speeder on Tatooine in A New Hope, the vehicles flying through Coruscant's skyline in The Prequel Trilogy, and The Cloud Cars on Bespin in ESB, for example) couldn't either. This is why The Trade Federation Droid Army, specifically their tanks, couldn't just ignore The Gungan Shields in The Phantom Menace, and mow down all The Gungans like a lawnmower does with grass, because they relied on Repulsorlift Technology too. That's why they had to deploy the droids themselves to get through the shield, and slaughter The Gungans up close, because the droids themselves didn't rely on that technology like their tanks did. When Flying in Space (Where there is no gravity), The Star Destroyers would just fly like normal Spaceships would, but when in atmosphere, and thus under a planet's gravitational influence, they would need to use Repulsorlift Technology to stay in the air, otherwise they would crash onto the planet, and (possibly) never fly again. Therefore, they could not go through The Rebels' shields, unlike their walkers, which didn't rely on that technology, and had legs to "walk" on to move around, instead. But, Jedha didn't have a planetary shield, in fact, it wasn't technically an enemy world, since The Empire would mine certain minerals, and resources on it, so why would it need to activate its shield against an allied force? Without a shield like that, The Star Destroyer would have no problem flying over a city with its Repulsorlifts keeping it above the ground at all times. That's my reasoning for it, anyway.

Captain Needa for the most part was unlucky. Vader was obsessed with finding the Falcon not caring how much damage the Star Destroyers took in the asteroid field. Needa seemed to be following standard procedure to capture the Falcon but gave up a little too quickly when the Falcon "escaped", Vader chiming in for an update on the pursuit right afterwards couldn't have come at a worse time either. It was supposedly manufactured well before the Prequel Trilogy (+50 years). The Falcon in particular was originally in Lando's possession, then was lost to Han in a card game. The reason why we get to see the Millennium Falcon look like she did "new" was because Lando kept her nice. From what we gather from the Solo movie, he also kept her under a tarp for the most part. She may have even been "restored" at some point in time to look new, and even modified and retrofitted well before Han started chopping and splicing who knows what inside her. A good example and comparison of how the Falcon became a "piece of junk" in the Original Trilogy would be like a person who owned a pristine 1932 Ford Coupe, factory original and kept in a garage. They lose it to a bootlegger in a card game, and the bootlegger decides to not only take it for one heck of a test drive running and smuggling stuff (causing all kinds of body/mechanical damage from evading cops), but also chopping parts and pieces, welding new parts, and generally modifying it into a frankenstein (or rat rod) version of what it used to be. Then letting it fall apart while he's trying to "fix" it himself. That's pretty much why the Falcon looks like "junk" in the Original Trilogy. Mostly because Han really did a number on the poor Falcon putting her through all kinds of stress and abuse. He "tries" to keep her looking nice, but not hard enough. XD

Disney has had trouble maintaining some form of continuity since they bought Star Wars. That was why they said originally why they scrapped the old expanded universe(although reality is they didn't want to pay royalties). They were like, Leia was never trained as a Jedi. Then after her space flight, they flip-flopped on why she was able to do that, before rewriting that she did have some Jedi training. Poe Dameron was like Leia's second son. They already filled in his back story, then had to flip it so he had a checkered past in Rise of Skywalker. Luke was able to see the good in his Father who has one of the most kills of anyone in universe, but doesn't think his nephew can be saved over a bad dream. I blame half on stupidity (doesn't need explaining) and half on a tight schedule. With the originals and the prequels you had 3 years between the movies releases. With the prequels you had the bonus that the story was planned out before they stared shooting the first one. That's enough time to plan everything. Then we jump to Disney times. They bought Lucasfilm in 2012 and had their first movie in 2015. That's an ok time span for one movie. But they had only 2 years for the following movies and because the trilogy wasn't planned ahead the time ran out. They also had a Star Wars story in between each movie with occupies production capacities that could have been used for the trilogy. Releasing a new Star Wars movie each year is unnecessary and too ambitious. Then they did the exact same mistake when it came to the shows. A new series each year is again too ambitious when you consider they reused parts of the Mandalorian set for the book of Boba Fett. It's overall not planned through because "the fans need content to stay fans". Disney treats us like toddlers. When were not occupied we loose interest and turn on the franchise

One complaint on the deal with Star Destroyers landing, and also sorta this whole video, firstly, ISDs have always, always been able to enter orbit. I mean, hell, Tarkin landed his ISD on a crown of protestors in an comic pre-Disney. It's just implied they don't do that commonly because it'd be really hard for them to get up from the ground. Secondly, the Snowspeeders were ALWAYS implied and outright stated to be uparmored, upgunned and repurposed cargo haulers that the Rebels repurposed because they had nothing better. That really defuses the first few minutes and complaints, but the rest I do totally agree with.

To one of your early points about flying the star destroyer down during the battle of Hoth: the rebels at that base were using a powerful shield generator (which the empire detects and we hear them say acknowledge it) which is why they sent the walkers instead. Otherwise yeah they would’ve just sent a bunch of ships and landed troops at the door immediately (like we see after the generator is destroyed), but the walkers had to be brought down outside the shield and then move in to disable it. That all just makes TLJ even worse. At least in ESB they had a reason for and explained it, but in TLJ he clearly just wanted to imitate Hoth. The base had no shields, no defensive cannon, nothing. Easily could have just dropped a ship on them and solved the whole problem. But nope Johnson thought it would be better to make everything “bigger and newer”.

OG Star Wars fan that has read all the books here. Both the Imperial and the Imperial-II class ISDs are more than capable of atmospheric operation. They were designed this way on purpose for the sake of intimidation, when bombardment was considered 'overkill', and also for ceremonial duties. It's important to remember what Star Destroyers are designed for - subjugation. The very shape of them, the tapered dagger-shaped hulls, means that you can point an ISD straight down at a city and fire every single weapon along the hull at a single point without fowling the sight lines of any other weapon due to the hull angle. Victories were not designed for subjugation, they were designed with more tactical operations in mind, being ships of the line first, everything else second. Victories were a technical upgrade to Venators, whilst Imperials and Imperial-IIs were more of a totally new class of warship, despite sharing a range of features.

Well, OK, but, you're then stuck with a bunch of secondary questions. Not the least of which is how come AT-ATs aren't stopped by the shield? You're going to want to say 'they're ray-shields and don't stop physical things.' Then the next question becomes, 'OK, but why not simply use Bombers to fly down and blow the crap out of the shield and ion cannon'? And now you're stuck. Also, General Kenneth Veers destroys the main power generator, informs Vader that he has done so, and tells him he may start his landing. Vader doesn't then come down in a star destroyer. But, none of that really matters, what really matters is having Star Destroyers floating in the air violates the visual metaphor. Star Destroyers are battleships, they work in space, which is the ocean and sometimes the sky. Having one on land is like watching a version of Pearl Harbour where the Japanese carriers mount the beaches and we find out they all have huge tank treads on their undersides. You can have a movie where that sort of thing happens, but you really can't when you've got six prior movies, mountains of secondary tier work and decades of tertiary work where at no point was this capability so much as hinted at. It'd be like having a fourth indiana Jones film where it turns out he has always been a wizard and resolves the issue at hand by summoning a dragon. There's nothing in the IJ universe that says this could not be true - magic of a kind has been seen in every IJ film after all, but anyone who would argue that doing so wouldn't be stupid as shit needs to be taken out and ballistically re-educated.
@RedXlV
@RedXlV Год назад
@@Belzediel Presumably because bringing the shields all the way down to ground level wouldn't work. ESB doesn't give any explanation for why not, we just know that's not how the shield generator works because if it did the Rebels would've used it that way to block the walkers. The old EU materials never bothered explaining that either as far as I know. Because not everything needs to be explained in every detail. Sometimes "that's just how the device works" is sufficient. And after the shield generator was destroyed...the base was already being overrun, landing a Star Destroyer wouldn't bring any added benefit. It's not like it would make the Rebels *even more* defeated. It wouldn't get Vader himself down there faster either, because he's not on a Star Destroyer. He's on the Super Star Destroyer, which is at least a dozen times bigger. A regular Star Destroyer being capable of landing on a planet doesn't meant the Executor can as well.

Something the Sequels greatly missed was politics, in universe ones. The OT didn't need them as it was a simple set up, evil Empire rules whole galaxy, Rebels fight back, pretty basic. The Prequels did politics well, sure it was confusing and happened a little much, but that's the point, the Senate scenes show just enough o convey what's going on, the ineffectiveness and corruption in the Republic, we then see enough of the political machinations of both sides setting up and ending the Clone Wars, and Palpatine's rise to power. Meanwhile the Sequels keep it small and focused on an era the desperately needed a look at the wider galaxy, and random shit just happens, EP 7 the New Republic is in power, BOOM, capital destroyed, EP 8 picks up immediately after and somehow the First Order controls the whole galaxy, so much that NO ONE comes to the aid of the Resistance on Crait, then we skip 1 year later to EP 9 and the Resistance if it ever gained much more strength has boringly been reduced tot he Falcon, Tantive 4, and a small bunch of random fighters, yet somehow in just a few hours during the Battle of Exogol Lando shows up with a big ass fleet. Like I said, random political shit just happens, where the hell were all these ships in that 1 year time skip, why is it only NOW in EP 9 that they showed up, and how did it happen so quickly, the Sequels make no fucking sense. The Prequels show enough to let you understand the situation, even as a little kid I could figure it out. The OT showed just enough, EP 4 the Rebels have a base and a bunch of fighters, Ep 5 they have a couple transports and a small fleet at the end, in EP 6 we see they've now got capital ships able to duke it out with fucking Star Destroyers, We see the Rebellion only growing just from the movies alone. While the Sequels need extra media just to explain even the most basic shit. That is bad world building, and they ignore even the most basic story telling rules, even shit so basic ANYONE could do it better, PLANNING, the lacked planning, beginning, middle, end. This also highlights to robust battle tactics of the Hoth battle. Why couldn’t the base be blasted from orbit? Shielding explained within the movie with scripted lines. Why couldn’t the destroyer just deploy troops from low orbit on top of the base? The Rebel base v-150 planet defender turret depicted on screen and not within an additional companion book. Why were AT-ATs deployed? Due to their immense firepower, defence and all-terrain capabilities. The battle of Crait (don’t care for spelling) had none of these and thus collapses under any scrutiny.
