Great call today Autumn!! Wow, throughout I was nodding my head with each review! Still working on increasing my protein needs based on your review with me. I love the comment “I’m trying to have a salad.” How many times have I told myself these exact words. Lots!! I enjoy salads but sometimes it works great when at the office but at home I want and am working on more flexibility. Dinners aren’t always the best. But I’m working hard to have that simple meals to support my goals. I’m confident by our next call scheduled in late August I will be doing amazing! Love seeing that many of us are in the same boat. It’s encouraging that I’m normal alongside others on this lifestyle journey. I know IF works, it makes totally sense.

Yes indeed Autumn...low protein intake say less than 1 g per pound of body weight (approximately depending on lifestyle) will negatively impact us by leaching protein from muscle and bone. They call it catabolism when the body eats itself. At this point we run the risk of our metabolism down regulating. This is a crazy feedback loop. You are explaining everything quite well and I enjoy your content. Thanks.🌻

Thanks Autumn. I will take your advice for sure. I will definitely be increasing my exercise because I am not getting sore at all anymore just tired as I am doing the exercise. I also have already added a smoothie (your blueberry recipe) to break my fast and then eat lunch an hour or two later. My big issue will be with getting complete protein as I have a lactose intolerance and can't eat dairy. Combined with trying to eat vegetarian it is a challenge but I like a challenge. I was also wondering if you do online advice via email or something? I think your videos are the best that I have found btw so great job!

I think she has mentioned in some videos that some hard cheeses have little lactose in them. Like parmesean. Could combine with eggs to get some protein in.

Re increasing exercise--what has worked for me, is to set a reminder every 6 weeks to re-evaluate. So for example, if I'm lifting weights 3x per week, after 6 weeks I test myself to see how many sets of 12 reps I can do, before my muscles fail. If I can do 3 sets of 12 reps without failure, it's time to up it. Keep in mind, that you would only increase the weight by enough that you're challenged, but that you can still maintain proper form. Proper form is extremely important, both for results, and to avoid injury. This applies to any form of exercise, really. At regular intervals check where you're at, and see if you can reasonably increase it to a bit more. There's the temptation to increase it by too much, just to say "I did xx", but you're building strength and overall fitness, which takes time to build a strong, injury-free base. :)

Welcome to my channel, Tonya! I have a *ton* of free smoothie recipes on my channel that you can check out with this playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLamXkvGEvGD7cd0RhA64HYQVUyrfRvn-m Regarding protein, it depends on what works best for your body. I typically recommend a Whey Isolate (zero sugar) protein powder, as it's the lowest in lactose (from a dairy protein perspective) and rated a high quality protein on the DIAAS score. This is actually why I chose Whey Isolate for my new protein powder, being released next week!

@Autumn Bates ????I know it’s not live but want to ask if a slice of multi-grain bread is ok in mornings with two sources of proteins. I love my toast with eggs! Also when is best time to have fruits, such as watermelon, papaya, berries? trying to lose about 25 lbs and gain some muscle at 61 years of age. I do IF and walking/other cardio and strength training with weight????
@celticlass8573
@celticlass8573 2 года назад
She has said that grains are fine, if you're not carbohydrate-sensitive. I would personally add, to have a closer look at your bread. Multi-grain CAN mean whole grain, no weird ingredients, but it can also mean that they've just thrown in a few whole grains, while most of the rest of the bread is overly-processed. Also check out how much sugar is added to it. Some bread has 5 or more grams of added sugar per slice! Sneaky buggers! lol
@GottaSayIt
@GottaSayIt 2 года назад
@@celticlass8573 thanks! In fact I just saw that my favorite “Dave’s killer multigrain” has about 5 grams of sugar! That’s out lol.
@celticlass8573
@celticlass8573 2 года назад
@@GottaSayIt Oh wow that's a lot. Is that per serving or per slice? If it's for 2 slices you may still want to include it, as that would only be 2.5 g. I personally like to keep my added sugar to below 20 g (25 being the absolute top) per day, so for me 2.5 wouldn't be a deal-breaker. Do take a look at the ingredients list though, to be sure that the ingredients in the bread are real food. If it's not, it's hardly worth eating you know? There are other, better options out there that taste great, AND nourish your body. :)

Hi Autumn. I’m 55 and post menopausal. I lost 52 lbs with a local nutritionist by clean eating and IF but recently gained it all back. I’m frustrated with myself because now I’m post menopausal with no more willpower. I’m thinking hormones are playing a huge role as well. I’m one that has an office job and am not active. I was able to lose the weight and not exercise at all but now doing lower carb and IF isn’t helping and not sure what to do. Do you have a program that could help me?
@celticlass8573
@celticlass8573 2 года назад
Get back with a nutritionist who knows about post-menopausal women's needs, and also a doctor or naturopathic doctor, who can make sure your hormones are how they should be (and can help you get back there), and also help you find an exercise regimen which will benefit you. Don't feel frustrated with yourself! Your body has gone though some BIG changes! You just need to approach things differently now, and getting professionals to help guide you will help a lot. :)

I feel you. I turned 55 this year and it was a wake up call to move more, eat real food, and to lift weights. Use your frustration to motivate you towards action. One thing I’ve realized in working with a personal trainer/lifestyle coach is to make this a long-term, daily goal. Focus on the ACTIONS you know you should be doing: moving more, eating whole food (including a whole lot of protein), lifting weights, drinking more water, getting good sleep, etc- every day. And if you can’t be perfect every day (and who really can) just do the best you can by making the best choice in the moment and then try to get back to optimum. If every day you focus on what you can do (and not be trapped by a short-term goal), you would be surprised how much you can achieve.

I notice you mention High protein for your first meal of the day and lots of eggs. I have struggled with weight loss my whole life and I think it's partially due to hyperosmia, I have an extremely sensitive sense of smell. Eggs and beans taste and smell like a fart to me, and it goes beyond just not liking them. I will throw up if I eat them or am around the smell too long. I also have the same problem with seafood, cottage cheese, and anything involving a mayonnaise based sauce as they are egg heavy. I don't know how to overcome this problem and I'm at my wits end

Are there any tricks to getting more protein in on a budget (large family so it adds up)? Obviously lots of eggs but I was relying on about 12 oz of meat at dinner; we started budgeting more lately and aren't sure how to fit in as much meat on a budget.

Hi, I would make a list of items that you often purchase in a month of groceries. You will be surprised how much unnecessary items we buy. Things like coffee, creamers, snack bars, nut butter, flavored water, salad dressings, ....these are things we all but but we don't really need. I am just assuming you are like me and can save by eliminating these items. Best of luck!

@celticlass8573

She's spoken about that here and there. She doesn't recommend OMAD, and definitely not ADF, as it's incredibly difficult to get what your body needs. She's also said to not fall into the trap of "longer fasting window is better".
