I've noticed that Paul has allot of negative things to say about almost everybody.

Stanley would have completely wrecked Appetite if he had of produced it.

I remember this story. Paul was going to help out Guns N Roses when they were first starting out, and then he found out Slash was sh*t talking him. Basically that's the story in a nutshell.

Paul was brought in to advise a young Guns n Roses that had bad attitudes that didn't want to hear advice. I think with age and maturity the entire incident would have been different, but in the end both bands became legendary..

I think it sucks to see how many people are trying to rip on the individual bands just because something dealing with people's egos getting hurt happened. Both bands had and have their fan base for a reason, whether you like them or not. Paul Stanley never said they didn't have talent, if anything once he saw how talented they were he only wanted to help. The Guns N' Roses members didn't like the advice and didn't appreciate the meddling that was being allowed to occur by their management and Stanley, because it was being done so without the majority of the bandmates' consent. Stop trying to tear down one band over the other, because at the end of the day Guns N' Roses never said Kiss lacked talent, and Kiss never said they didn't have talent. The issues that occurred happened because sometimes giving advice can be seen as arrogance and sometimes not liking advice can be seen as childish. I think given the fact that later on Slash apologized to Paul says that he probably saw later that they were being a bit childish towards someone who was only asked to come and help them and clearly really wanted to because he saw how great they were and wasn't trying to tear them down even though his notes may have not been necessary or would've fit what they were trying to do musically.

GNR brought Stanley in SOLEY so Steven Adler could get his jollies by meeting his hero. He was NEVER seriously considered for any spot with Guns. Kiss were barely able to fill mid-size arenas, and Paul was reduced to doing clubs(fancy name for bars) on his solo tour. I put this here because the Kiss fans clearly didn't watch the video.

If I was a young band and Paul Stanley came to give me advice, I would definitely listen on his ideas because he might of opened up your eyes to different ideas. Slash should never of opened his mouth and put him down in public that was a really unprofessional thing to do. Stanley might not be everyone cup of tea, but he's been in the music business for years and is still going strong as a live performance even though we all know they are using backing tracks because age has caught up.

after the idea of re-working welcome to the jungle and Night train. I knew it wasn't gonna work. especially Night Train. something tells me Paul might have wanted to clean up the lyrics to Night Train. I think the band should listen to his advise and idea and take then under consideration at least but having Paul produce AFD would have been a mess.

It's really simple: Paul wanted to try his hand at producing and chose GnR. But he didn't "get" GnR's sound and tried to remodel it into something he understood, something that was successful for Kiss (more "sing-songy" as Slash says in his book). GnR was so fresh it was like Star Wars when Appetite came out. In a way it was all so very familiar--heavy guitars with wailing melodic vocals. But at the same time, there was nothing like the sonic juggernaut of Welcome To The Jungle (like tie fighters screaming across a movie screen--wtf was that?!). Paul was well-intentioned, but he can come across as a real snob and condescending at times and no doubt this rubbed GnR the wrong way. The greatest tragedy might be that Kiss overlooked Slash's talent. Slash would have been the best choice to follow Ace in Kiss. Slash can do great classic guitar work and could have kept the 80s Kiss sound closer to the 70s while sounding relevant in the 80s. (I love Bruce, but he changed the sound of the band.)

Gene and Paul dislike everybody but Gene and Paul. Nobody dislikes Slash in a reality that matters.

I just Say that it wasn’t fitting....GNR was something very different and Appetite would have been something else....without Stanley it became one of the best Selling Debut Albums there ever was. So Guns N Roses was maybe right! That doesn’t take anything Away from Paul Stanley ,in my Opinion , who is a Great Guy. An yeah if Slash acted that Way Paul also had some kind of Point. At the time GnR were rising stars, there was an abundance of 'hair metal' bands. Guns weren't that at all, but weren't heavy metal either. They were something all on their own, and you can hear that in how Appetite for Destruction sounds. No way would it have had the impact it did if it had been sprinkled with the influence of someone from KISS. I'm not saying that it would have been a bad thing, but it wouldn't have been the same album at all.

I'm not a Paul Stanley fan. KISS was not what I would call a great band, as it kept having strange falling outs with band members, leaving Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley as what was really KISS. I was a kid when I first heard of them in 1978. At 5 years old, I noticed how iconic they were, before I could even explain what that meant. Suddenly, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley were gone. Vinnie Vincent had replaced Ace Frehley. By this time, I got a bit of an understanding that the problem wasn't the three of them, it was Gene and Paul. In a lot the same way that in the 1990's, when Beavis and Butthead showed up, the feeling of the original show was that it was really the Butthead show, with Beavis as a support cast member similar to Stuart or the school faculty. All the other ancillary members of KISS were temporary. Contrast that to, say, Yngwie Malmsteen. His band has undergone a full recasting multiple times. It always will. The members of the band line up know that. It doesn't bother them, in fact, it gives them more exposure, as Malmsteen creates fresh new sounds, while giving the members of the line up something to put on their CV's. To learn of this, it doesn't surprise me, either. And that is coming from someone who, after the original band line up came down to JUST Axl Rose, they fell out of favor for me, as I began gravitating past Slayer on the metal scale of straight up hardness.

I thought I heard somewhere that Nikki Sixx was asked to produce GNR as well. He turned it down because he felt he wasn't the right person at the time since he was going through his own bout with drug addiction and it wouldn't have been fair to this up n coming band.

KISS might well be THE Absolute without a doubt GREATEST in terms of just promotion band there's ever been. They're certainly in the running for it, with that said they're competent at best musicians, they're EXTREMELY basic. Whereas GnR are collection of some truly good actual musicians. Jeff Beck doesn't collaborate with clowns, but he along with quite a few other respected musicians collaborate with Slash regularly. Gene Simmons is a brilliant marketer, but he's no Jack Bruce or John Entwistle, same thing when it comes to Stanley vs Beck or Slash for that matter. Financial success has nothing to do with what I'm eluding to.
