Why Some Pokemon Really Have Two Mega Evolutions.. 

Why X and Y Mega Stones really exist! These are my best guesses LOL some are wacky but I like the ideas! Let me know if y'all agree or got a better idea!

To everyone pointing out it's because money and they're popular 1. No crap, pokemon is a company so they need to make money. They saw an opportunity and capitlized on it. 2. The point of these videos is NOT to figure out when they actually did what they did. They're for making and discussing fun theories and ideas for what they COULD do. Will they actually do it, probably not, especially considering how many theories you can have for any single game, let alone a massive franchise like pokemon. But it's still fun to talk about and maybe, just maybe someone at game freak watches one of these, thinks it's really good, and it gets into the game. Fans having an impact on game lore is really cool.

Honestly a new type of Mega Evolution would be really interesting. Like it completely changes one's typing and appearance similar to regional variants.

Real life reason? popularity. In-game reason? idk.

Also really interesting that the X Megas are the ones that are "More Chaotic" considering their strange appearances compared to the Y Megas. Could it be some sort of hint towards hidden truths to Xerneas and Yvetal?

This reminds me of an old theory I came across where the X Megas are synthesized Megas (Human-designed forms that are unnatural) and Y Megas are the actual steps forward in the Pokemon's evolution.

Remember back to the games? Much like with the fragments that make the stones for gigantamaxing in Sword and Shield. Most of the mega stones were shiny sparkles hidden throughout the world. Sparkling like they fell from the heavens like the gigantimax stonw

Cool idea. I could be that we’re only getting new x megas in the game but not necessarily for pokemon that can already mega evolve. They wouldn’t be called X unless another mega stone exists but they’d be identifiable by their more radical designs

After Scarlet and Violet showing Salamence's ancestor hinting at some mega's being reversions(in a more broad sense) makes me wonder which Megas are actual advancements in evolution Mewtwo X i think could be considered an advancement, with Y being a reversion in it's DNA from scream tail becoming more prominent(the head tail) For all we know, a paradox charizard could have looked like charizard X

Just so its here, there's an old theory that Team Rocket figured out how to make artifical mega stones by making Charizardite X, so they could give their 'ultimate pokemon weapon' at least one.

"pokemon won't pull something out of their butt", the paradox pokemon being from alternative worlds instead of actual imagination or even time travel pokemon begs to differ.

I always saw mewtwo X is if Mewtwo was further experienced on to make it counter the types that countered psychic (steel and dark) And mewtwo Y is Mewtwo if it was more genetically pure aka closer to mew hence it becoming smaller

One thing I'd like to mention is that there's a chance for both Xerneas and Yveltal getting a 'Mega like' form. Hear me out. In USUM, Necrozma got a final form with the help of a Z-Crystal, in Sword&Shield, Eternatus got its own G-max (Eternamax form). So, it's only logical to conclude that maybe both Xerneas and Yveltal will get some kind of form that's GREATER than Mega Evolution 🧬 and possibly Zygarde might have some role to play in it.

I think what would be cool is that in the new legends game there’s different clans similar to diamond and pearl clan with new x and y clans. I think it makes more sense that specific Pokémon from these clans possibly in the same tier as nobles gained mega evolution and in order to harness it properly the new galaxy team creates stones for these Pokémon to harness it. Could explain why specific Pokémon have it and why Pokémon like Charizard and Mewtwo have specific form megas.

I really hope regional variants will be available in this game. If a Galarian Slowbro was able to be obtained, I'd love to see what it would look like with a Slowbronite!

Oh yeah, something else that might help out with your theory is that Mr. Fuji gives Red the Charizardite X in the short anime special after Red saves him from Lavender Tower.

The Pokédex entries for megas makes it sound painful to mega-evolve like their forced to hold all that power.

Imo lore wise it would be more simplified if they said that the x is man made mega evolution where as the y form is their actual battle bond forms that they found out via the stones

Maybe they'll be Mega Evolutions (or alternative) for Z and A.

I like to think that the Pokémon manga has a reason behind mewtwos two mega evolutions, the special form represents his bond with mew and the physical form represents his bond with Blaine. Otherwise why does a modern day created Pokémon even have mega stones (if memory serves mega stones were created hundreds or thousands of years in the past when the ultimate weapon was first fired)

My opinion on what mega evolutions are is that the pokemon are taping into ancient DNA. Look at Roaring Moon and Salamance as an example. Even Mewtwo can be explained as taping into the DNA or earlier prototypes. As for Charizard, it could have been that there were originally two different species of Charizard that over the years became a more common form we know today. This also would kinda explain the DNA like symbol that Mega Evolutions have as well

The reason Charizard & Mewtwo have two Megas because next to Pikachu, they are two of the most popular Pokemon there is.

I definitely like the idea with the 2nd Megastones being less natural, more like an anomaly, but in Mewtwos case, I feel like it gaining the fighting-type is not as out-of-pocket as it may seem. I mean, in most media, it was created to be "the ultimate fighting machine". Sure, it going fully on physical attacks is weird, but the fighting-type itself fits its nature, and its body is closer to that of the original Mewtwo making it hard to tell which one of Mewtwos two Megas the real "anomaly" is. On the other hand, Mewtwo is an artificial Pokemon, both are technically not natural, they're both anomalies... which kinda throws both final ideas for a loop, unless we're wrong about Mewtwos origins, there couldn't have been another trainer with a Mewtwo before that stored some kind of "potential" on a "blank Megastone", and there couldn't really be a natural Mega-stone for it and one that's an anomaly. In general, it'll be interesting to see how Legends Z-A handles Mewtwo, if it'll only exist due to a spacetime distortion or something like that or if there already exists a Mewtwo at that time for some reason. Either way, it should either play a bigger part in the story or have its own side-story similar to how Giratina did in Legends Arceus.

My theory is that theega stone is a stone that add new typing to a Pokemon DNA and that force a Pokemon to change it from forcefully like Charizard dragon type mega it forcefully adding dragon type to Charizard which alter it from

I wonder if in ancient times what if charizard and mewtwo had just 1 mega evolution but the mega stone split into two and made two mega stones

The obvious answer is they're likely gonna go with z megas. I feel like z megas could be a 3rd mega for x&y ones but on the other hand, 3 megas are a bit much, so maybe Z megas could be newly introduced ones that got lost to time or the other obvious answer is just xy megas/1 mega.

X and y stones.... I think they may be one stone in PLZA but if kalosian form evolves into one form and and original pokemon evolve into other form. Wild catch kalosian Kanto starters (yes so X and Y megas for both venasur and blastoise) New kalosian mewtwo form (no new mega) This way PLZA starters also get two forms, kalosian form with a mega, but give the mega stone to non-varient forms, you get a diffrent mega/cannot mega.

Mewtwo was made in a lab so we have to assume the mega stones were too so maybe Giovanni just said it’s good at everything give it an special and physical mega just cause we can

I think that the Mega Stones were one form and they eventually split overtime into X and Y

Xerneas should be Fairy/Grass so it's balanced against Yveltal's Dark/Flying. They can each hit super effective against the other. Right now Xerneas has an unfair advantage. It's very likely both will receive Megas to follow the pattern of giving Box Art Legends new forms in future revisits

You know, there's actually NO EXPLANSTION about this even in pokemon world, like some NPC/character said the differences/the cause. Even in anime, an episode when Mega Charizard X vs Mega Charizard Y, no one reacted about it like "Why are they different?" or "Why one Charizard become black but the other not?" then someone explain it with side story telling/something, no, no one. This is just Pokemon Company know which one is the popular pokemon, and which one is the developer's favorite child. Just it. They ruined their own mechanism about 1 pokemon get 1 mega form 😅 So the explanation will always connected to our real world, money, merchandise, version exclusive pokemon, etc.

I would love for both blastoise and venusaur to get a second Mega that leans towards a second type just like charizard, maybe a poisonous venusaur or a steel blastoise, it would make the Kanto starters equal and it would make charizard X not feel out of place and I might actually start to like it lol

They could just pull from the card game and say it's Infinity energy and that it is Xerneas and Yveltal power and think of the X ans Y forms are just the potential that is inside of the Pokémon like Charizard and Mewtwo with X Infinity energy unlocking types or abilities that are locked away from Pokémon while Y Infinity energy enhances their already existing type and abilities. Or it's just for the money and Gamefreak locked themselves in because of it.

I never thought of the X and Y being based off chromosomes, I always figured it was based off of the difference axis (X being left to right, Y being up and down) cus of this theory Zerneus has a place (Z axis being depth) do with that theory as you wish

I doubt they would do this, but it would be so cool if mega mewtwo was able to swap between it's x and y mega by being genetically modified.

Ttar, you should know that the X and Y chromosomes are pretty specific to humans and our close animal relatives. Like, many species have all sorts of different sex chromosomes. We can't possibly expect that Charizard and Mewtwo follow human biology rules.

I think Mewtwo got a mega because of all the Mewthree fan theories back in the day. Mega Mewtwo X/Y has never made sense from a lore perspective because Mewtwo was created only 20 years before the original game.

I think there will probably only be three different kinds of mega stones and the last kind will be Z because we have x y and z Pokémon not only that but I doubt the Pokémon game would want to have to make a whole alphabets worth of mega’s so it makes sense that there would only be 3 kinds they could also link the reason to why mega stones only appear there is because a trainers passion and bond with their Pokémon in the middle of a dangerous battle catalyses and fuses with the orb to then create a mega stone Actually while I was thinking about this I thought about ash greninja if this theory is correct then what ash greninja really is is an incomplete mega evolution without the orb present which is why he has a somewhat different appearance but similar strength and a similar bonding method

I'm sorry Ttar, but there's no possible theory that you could come up with that explains why Charizard and Mewtwo have 2 Mega Evolutions that I would believe in. They were made purely because of popularity.

Maybe the x forms are artificial and the y forms are natural (or at least as natural as a giant crystal flower that was made from thousands of pokemon's life force the is probably the pokemon equivalent to a nuclear bomb made from the corpses or thousands of pokemon could realistically be)

its funny that ttar considers charizard x stronger, because charizard y is the one that won worlds in 2015 (granted it was the senior division, and not masters. so nobody talks about it. but its charizards only worlds W. x really hasnt done anything other than look cool). even in a regular playthrough of x/y (not talking competitively), i think drought just makes charizard y better
