INFJ Life Coach Lesson: This is not a one-way street. The mature INFJ has been through thick and thin, but they are still driven by their desire for growth in the real world. They continuously seek to improve on what's already there with extraverted sensing - any action taken will be based off feedback from others as well as self analysis so it can get better each time around

What is your take on utilising your extraverted sensing?
@if3359
@if3359 2 года назад
Very very important! And I think it is more rewarding when engaged with for the sake of Fe or Ni. I am initiating more lately, scheduling more with friends, also go out for a run on a beatiful day. I used to think doing too much might be too draining, but it can actually be very emergizing, especially when it pays in Fe or Ni rewards (strenghtening relationships and having good experiences with friends, or getting better insight because I gathered more).

It's all about the first step. It's a long proccess for an INFJ, but when you once take the first step you will be surprised how quick can the things work out. In fact that's an enormouse advantage. I think that this long proccess of stepping into action is what define's an introvert and our biggest power and advantage. We can take everyone by surprise when we finaly take action. You can never know how deep the still water actually is.

Before I knew I was INFJ I recognized that I often needed to get out of my own way in order to get things done or to find happiness. In a sense I had to embrace the practice of putting myself in uncomfortable situations; to run towards my fears instead of away from them; to make bizarre statements and stand by them; to pursue relationships and accept my awkwardness. I tried to learn to laugh at myself and my failures - even when it was painful to do so. The most moving characters in movies for me are the ones who face impossible odds armed only with inner principles and knowing they will fail or even die. This is how I defined virtue for myself. I saw myself as an underdog, outlier and outcast. When I was told that I didn't have the competitive instinct to become a doctor it only motivated me even more to become one - even if it put me into contact with many personality types that I avoided socially. When I interviewed for medical residency at Brown University (which should have been out of my league given my lopsided educational background) I learned to sell my eccentric background, ideas and traits as strengths to come across as visionary. It worked. At the end of my residency I wanted to confront my insecurity about my clinical knowledge and public speaking so I became chief resident where I had to lecture every day. I always strive to better myself. I always believed I could do better. I'm not sure where that came from, because my early life was full of self-doubt, self-flagellation and a good deal of clinical depression. I guess I realized that true suffering, to me, was the notion of living in isolation with my greatest ideas and hopes unrealized.

Loved the pizza analogy! We'll sometimes just go hungry instead of trying to decide what shop, what toppings, what size etc. We'd rather save the brain power for other things.

Whenever Im contemplating about school assignment i thought it was just me procrastinating things. i turns out that I am not mature enough to get things all done. i just learned that we need to believe in our vision to make it possible.

There's also the more cognitive sense of Se. Gathering more, by experiecing, by reading more and more "facts", instead of theorizing and making up patterns and predictions with very little information. Se in this way makes Ni patterns and predictions better! It is one thing to theorize what an experience might be like, and actually experiecing it, or what someone might be like and actually being concentrated on experiecing what they are like and trying to hold the theory we might impose on them.

I've been a practitioner of SE, and as a matter of fact, it's helped me make a lot of progress. But every time I use it I feel like I'm teaching myself all over again how to do it. In my pre-Myers-Briggs days, I saw it simply as an inability to take action, although I'm sure know there's a whole lot more to it than that. I think the biggest thing that kept me from practicing SE as much as I should have, was thinking I had to know how to function like an expert . I've since found out that I can often learn very well what to do by actually doing it. I can't say that it's emotionally easy every time even now, but it does become more natural as we trust ourselves with what we have to work with. Listening to and watching this video has encouraged me to keep on developing SE. I appreciate the encouragement to keep working with it , knowing that we can.

This advice is beyond amazing. I'm at a point in my maturity where I've actively used my Se to exercise on a daily basis, but I never understood the true function of Se until now. My new plan: use Ni to visualize, Se to externalize that vision, and Ti to analyze and learn from my experiences!

yeah, I am on it! Just yesterday paid for my WordPress and I´ve been setting all the things...only doing that was a lot to do...but as you say, this is the time to use your strengths to thrive... so yeah, I guess I have jumped on that train, I´m just hoping to keep pushing and not abandon so fast 😬

I love the "take action" SE attitude you have taught to us for many years - yet more importantly- we have witnessed your SE evolution thru your videos and it is remarkable. Yet your authenticity (and wisdom) has shined thru since day 1 and sincerity and thats why I have kept up with you for all these years. CHEERS TO YOU!

CRAP, I didn’t want to hear this 😂 My ESTP boyfriend would love to hear it Thank you for the valuable information. I do strive to improve my Se. Compared to 10 years ago, I’ve made giant strides. I workout daily and I couldn’t have fathomed this when I was younger. I’m currently optimizing my life to have more general energy and take more external action.. using my intuitions and visions to help people, to speak up, to take the hikes that I know will be good for my mind. The idea of feeding Ni with Se makes a lot of sense. Didn’t admit that til I was 28.. 😆

I clicked your video because I’ve used my intellect to decide that I should will myself to utilize Se as a sort of last ditch effort to quit smoking cigarettes. I’ve increased my daily physical activity to the point that I’m ready to “go all out” with Se (thoughtfully, safely, deliberately). Hopefully, I can later return to my comment to update you about positive results. My whole life has been a self-scientific-study. Would you say that INFJs have a better innate understanding of other personality types? I am an INFJ physician at one of the better VA hospitals, and I feel like I am able to connect with patients very easily. As a result some of my most guarded patients trust me a great deal. I also worked at a maximum security (life sentences) prison in the past and it was fascinating to experience the many ways many inmates would try to enter a clinical relationship hoping to get personal information for the purpose of psychological/emotional manipulation. To my credit I was able to strike the balance - to grant the sense of a trusting clinical relationship yet, at no point, was any ill-intentioned patient able to gain emotional leverage on me nor did they actually get to know anything about my real life. I'd like to think I understand people very well. Only last month I tested as INFJ and that had me thinking about this.

Great tips! I have plenty of good ideas I intend to put into action when I get the chance. But sometimes one's life circumstances are what really hold one back, not that he or she is lazy, unmotivated, or afraid of putting themselves out there. For example, lacking finances, chronic health problems, etc. It's easy for one to take action if there's nothing hindering them from doing it. I know what disadvantages/cons I'm currently faced with in my life, but hopefully, things will gradually start changing for me soon.

I think I have always been strong in extroverted sensing. Over the years it’s has grown even stronger unless I’m aware of my bodies physical, spiritual needs. Then it’s stop get a sandwich or meal. Take care of what ails. Or meditation. the concrete side of extroverted sensing is the physical senses hearing, feeling, seeing, touching , smells and that’s the environment around me. It could be the room I’m in or the dog that walked by the gorgeous girl the sounds of bark exploding off trees as it grows. I think that feeds my pattern recognition also. I like to touch a fabric before I purchase a shirt or other things. As for friends I can take them or leave them. Perfectly happy with me. I’m strong on my values so friendships are far and few. To many people go along with the crowds and mimic their actions. Kind of like the woke. Or those with tattoos. Don’t understand that one? I can be friends with most but nah not necessary. If they need help they will ask. I planned to take a hike today and see waterfalls but time restrictions got in the way. Now I’m packing a lunch for tomorrow’s hike. I may see three or four water falls close to each other. Loving this retirement to do and go where I want. Maybe take a book with me in the fresh air even have a Power Nap.

Your timing is perfect :) I have a lot of action to take, I felt quite overwhelmed lately and had a hard time to let go of the inner pressure. I feel better now thanks to your insights and advices. I now recognize I've come a long long way when it comes to my extraveted sensing. What concerned me (and my entourage) a lot throughout my life was my inability to avoid burning myself out, then procrastinating, and so on and so on... Well I'm giving a shot at my dream job this year, it is life-changing. It's most certainly going to take quite some time before I can expect any income, but I can definitely observe and appreciate the benefits it has on my mental and physical health. I want to get better with my SE ^^

What is my take on utilizing my extraverted sensing? I use it only when needed for participation during employee meetings when I am asking/answering questions or presenting a suggestion to improve things. I didn't know how to speak in front of people and present myself in an organized manner until I attended five different professional development academies while serving in the US Air Force. I've retained enough of that knowledge and currently use it. Yet, I still need to come out of my shell a little more. After watching this video, I am gonna work on improving in this area more. Thanks again Wenzes.

Once I begin action, I am unstoppable. I look like I'm running in circles but suddenly 7 unrelated things are finished together as a whole. I concentrate on externally observable blah blah blah. That helps. I look at abandoned beginnings and observe what is rather than the finished task. Getting started again is the problem. I sort of switch modes in my head. Hard to explain. I can't force it. Sometimes it happens. I need to learn to flip modes on command. Right .... ha ha ha
