actually this isn't a arrowverse bs .this show is from a another world and its produced by HBO MAX. btw u should watch DOOM PATROL .its even better than the boys 👍
I always wonder if superman actually went bad in the other world or was just taken over by Zod because he didn't have anyone to pull him back. I think it the latter.
They gave away the first episode for free. I was ten minutes in when I bought the season. Adults who treat each other with respect. A family that loves each other and works at being good to each other. Writing that feels like things my friends and I would say to each other. This show made me feel. It made me think. It made me love Superman and feel there is a desperate need for the stories they’re telling in today’s world. It’s so good.
I was skeptical about the show at first (since it was a CW show). But that opening montage.. man oh man, I was hooked. That "My mom made it for me" scene sold me in a second. And after finishing the pilot, I completely forgot that it's actually a CW show. I LOVE Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. I don't think I've ever liked any other live-action portrayal of both Superman and Clark Kent this much. They always mess up one or the other. But Hoechlin shines as the indestructible hero who just tries to do the right thing and save people. And when he's Clark, I just have this big grin at his genuine dorkyness. This Clark is not faking being a dork by donning some glasses. He actually is the Clark Kent raised on Smallville who loves helping out people. Lois said it right, Clark's heart makes him Superman, not just his powers
It *is* great to finally see some more Superman stuff that isn't "what if he was evil?" or whatever. It was interesting at first, but I'm personally kind of bored with it now. So again, it's great to finally see this sort of thing after what feels like a while!
I feel like It is more interesting to see a Media,Be it Videogames,Shows or Cartoons where its The Batman thats the Big Bad,And superman has to stop him but he lost his powers either via red sun or Golden Kryptonite,So we see Superman having to be mortal,To use his Brain to outsmart the world greatest detective
@@chriswentz5197 I like that, but if we make it worse is for them to team up. Like picture Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne/Batman, the two smartest/richest people on the planet, for once see eye to eye with each other and team up for something. (Batman isn't infallible so if the smartest person in the world managed to trick/mislead him, it would be understandable.) So it takes Superman to save the day against all the odds.
One of the best scenes for me was when Lois was yelling at Jonathan after sneaking into Steel's RV. "I was one second away from being dead. And mom couldn't do anything! And you...you almost didn't even make it in time." "You almost died!" The fact that they actually acknowledge that he almost died really shows the gravity of how dangerous it is. In most shows a character almost dies and they just brush it off like nothing happened and move on. But this show actually has stakes. The things they are doing are actually dangerous and if feels like the characters are really grounded in reality and aren't just happy little superheroes who are never in any real danger.
I love how the show made Clark being Clark first and Superman second. He has always been Clark and feels so human (ironic because he is a literal alien).
Literally agree with everything. The other cw shows have become a cringe fest and cheesy which i understand because its superheroes but the writing has fallen off. Even the way those shows are shot are really weird. I only like arrow and flash season 1 and 2. Superman and lois is just the quality every show needs to be. Beautiful
I don't hate the character flash but if you look back at the flash season 1 and 2 the flash is sooo dumb when his fighting his enemies he talks too much and let the enemies go and he will just say they escaped even thoooo he can literally search the whole area for just 5 seconds that's one of the examples why it always sucked cw made him look like his dumb he should be the smartest man alive he can learn things ina manner of milliseconds
This is my favorite Superman anything! I used to think Superman was boring and didn’t have any interesting stories, but this show changed my tune. All the characters are likable and I found myself really caring for Clark’s kids. Only thing I wish is that It had a better airing schedule, the king breaks they took made me loose interest sometimes.
I'd argue whether the visuals are early Game of Thrones level, but they're definitely up there when it comes to TV. I think they could use more wide shots when Superman is doing his Superman stuff. The camerawork is mostly great, but what got me most was that the show's got this color to it - it's difficult to pinpoint... it's a bit washed out and a bit saturated at the same time, with a distinct haze or DoF or something, which makes it hard to mistake for anything else - it's almost dreamy at times. And it particularly stands out from all the other Arrowverse shows by not being flat in the daytime. But the writing really works here. Everyone's properly motivated, everyone's got layers, AND (this one's important for me, because cape TV has a tendency of going hard into this, and even harder as they go on) PEOPLE ACTUALLY TALK TO EACH OTHER about stuff instead of having fake drama based on lack of communication. Sure, there's a few instances where that's present, but most of the time the people we're supposed to root for don't keep things to themselves for bullshit reasons, and they call each other out on their bullshit when that happens, and they make progress as a result. It's difficult for me to point when was the last time I saw this in TV writing.
Something I LOVED was that Superman’s cape always had a light coming from behind it even when he wasn’t facing away from a light source , so it was always such a vibrant red!
I feel like people will talk about it more once people binge it on HBO MAX, because after they went on break, for me at least, I forgot about it and went to other things and once I saw that it was back on, 5 episodes too late, I felt I'd just wait till it was on the streaming service, although it does suck I got spoiled by one hell of a twist.
Oh yeah, that break was the stupidest decision they could have made. I mean, sure, maybe they didn't have the episodes shot because of the unspecified virus, or maybe they needed to put that Supergirl attrocity somewhere and thought it wouldn't lose viewers if it surfed on S and L's momentum.
I agree this show is fantastic and I hope more people start to discover it once it's back on HBO Max, and stick with it into season 2 as it airs. It deserves more recognition and viewership, for sure.
I think one of Lois’s best lines from the whole show, which perfectly shows how much they nailed her characterization, is “Babe, you do your Superman stuff, and I’ll do my Lois Lane stuff.” Because she says them with equal importance and weight. She views herself as his equal, and her journalistic accomplishments as just as important as Clark’s work, because it helps just as many people in just as significant a way. He may save lives, but she’s trying to protect people’s way of life. And I love that about this show.
Bro, if you want to see another piece of underrated Superman media that gets the characters of Lois Lane and Clark Kent right, watch Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, starting Dean Cain and Terry Hatcher. The show is from the early to mid 90s, and it focuses more on small crime than huge action pieces because of the budget and tone, but watching the two main characters come closer together throughout the show is an absolute treat.
I haven't seen any of this show but just seeing a bit of Clark's dorky ass mannerisms has sold me on it completely. It's such a good direction to take the character, having him literally be a boy scout and not deconstructing it at all.
I’ve thoroughly fallen in love with this show. It’s overall quality is so high. After the pilot I bought the entire season. I wish it was on a different network bc Its ratings would be thru the roof. Pass the word to your family, friends and colleagues to watch this show. They won’t be sorry. I hope the CW and the WB really hype its second season because it deserves it.
@@omalleycaboose5937 this is literally the best Superman thing out right now besides maybe the animated movie and that’s it everything else is either not that great or injustice like
I had a dream last night that The Flash Season 8 had the same quality of Superman & Lois. Of course that would never happen. Just a silly dream but also fun to think about.
I love this show, but especially Tal-Rho. He was a good villain in Season 1 & his arc & path toward redemption in Season 2 is great too. The way they did Bizarro & the Bizarro World took a goofy Silver Age concept & made it believable. The episode where Superman is in the Bizarro World was one of the best. Oh & Tyler Hoechlin rivals Christopher Reeve in my opinion. Really hoping Season 3 keeps up the greatness.
Season 1 Episodes Ranked: 15: Perks of Not Being A Wallflower 14: Fail Safe 13: Heritage 12: Haywire 11: Holding the Wrench 10: Through the Valley of Death 9: Best of Smallville 8: Broken Trust 7: O Mother Where Art Thou 6: Pilot 5: Man of Steel 4: The Eradicator 3: Last Sons of Krypton 2: Loyal Subjekts 1: Brief Reminiscence In-Between Cataclysmic Events
Thanks. I've needed escapism lately and I'm going to buy the DVDS of season 1. I've watched a lot of short clips of the show and I like the idea that it IS superman. Also, the explanation of the history of CW helps me understand what has been going on.
I love Superman and Lois it was really awesome and tons of fun and this show did everything I ever wanted especially as a huge fan of the Superman family from the rebirth comics this did everything I ever wanted which I approved. 😎
This wasn't a HBO Max show bruh.. HBO Max helped fund this show, yes. But the production was all done by CW. And the people working on this show, specifically the showrunner, is the same person who was the showrunner for The Flash Seasons 2 to 5. Edit: Stargirl Season 2 is also completely done by the CW, and judging by the trailers, it looks to be just as good as it's first season, which was done by the DC Universe streaming service and is on-par with the HBO Max levels of quality. Edit 2: HBO Max also helped with the budget of shows like Batwoman, and (probably) also with the upcoming CW/DC show, Naomi. They aren't helping with the old shows that have been there since before Crisis (Batwoman being an exception here).
CW changed aspect ratios and cinematography for Batwoman Nancy Drew and NAOMI Superman and Lois because they release on hbo max after thier seasons have finished, hbo didn't really fund anything CW switched VFX departments that's why it looks way better, they hired The VFX house who does all the DCEU/MCU work versus the arrowverse VFX house who are quite small and work on all the arrowverse shows minus Stargirl Superman and Lois
The breaks in this show bothered me the most cos the writing is incredible. Two eps when a two break. It’s hard to create hype when you’re gone off the air for a few weeks. This show will do a Boys and breakout big time before season 2
I mean I used to use the CW app back in high school watching new episodes of Arrow (like Season 4/5) and actually hyped for waiting for a new episode, but then I just waited until the entire next season was on Netflix.
Not gonna lie... I still like The Flash as a show. I understand and probably agree with most criticisms of it, and it's hard to support an actor getting fired for tweets, but something about it I still love.
9:12 "Also, look at this man's eyes. Holy fuck they're beautiful." Dude that caught me so off-guard. I was not ready for that at all. I've spent a solid 2 minutes laughing hysterically at that. That has no right to be hilarious at all, but I can't lie I really do agree with you. Jordan Elsass has some great looking eyes. Also my phone's keyboard has now started to act like a Windows 94 computer, so this is great. Also, it is really nice to see somebody at all talk about this amazing show that I love and actually understands characters and gets them right. That is one of the reasons I hate Henry Cavill's Superman. He doesn't act like a person even though it's one of the things that makes Superman the character that he is
Fuck this is a great show and the only reason its on cw is because wb doesn't want this platform to go under bankruptcy. Thank god the writers on the cw didn't work on this after the ending of the flash i truly believe they smoke every kind of drug before they start writing anything.
I wasn't going to watch it but thanks to your video I will give it a try. Cause I really liked Smallville but not the recent poorly written stuff. Thanks
they said the budget for season 4 will be lower then the rest and i swear that better not follow through once the strike is over cus this show needs this quality
I really don't see the problem with other Arrowverse characters like Supergirl showing up, It wouldn't affect the show at all because it actually has good writers.
Watched this show out of curiosity and I’ve been binge watching it all day! It’s pretty good! At least for a superhero show. It’s easily stapled itself as one of the best and the cast and acting are pretty intense. Especially the boys. I also thought the kids were going to be your typical angsty teens but the writing has fleshed them out and actually developed their characters instead of making them useless.
superman and lois is so under rated its criminal. If you're a fan of superman its absolutely a must watch and if you're a fan of good television its absolutely a must watch
Superman and Lois quality in CGI and Writing was done greatly. The Flash had it for while until the writing change and dont get me started how Legends of Tomorrow changed
Personally I think that Superman was correctly portrayed in MoS. And that Lois in MoS was not boring at all. I also personally think that Superman and Lois tv show is also the greatest CW show. I’m saying this for MoS because Clark Kent is realistically an introvert, so he has trouble showing his true self to people even though he lives together with them. But as time goes on he learns to open up more and becomes an ambivert.
No lie the fluff suit had kept me away from this show and then I finally sucked it up and gave it a try and holy crap is it one of the best takes on Superman ever. Fluff suit or not, its well written and well acted by everyone. I hope they continue the trend in season 3.
I dont necessarily agree with the whole reinvent the wheel thing. And as far as man of steel and batman v superman. You do see it. You see it in Clark Kent's scenes. Where he comes home after finding out about himself. You see it in batman v superman where his talking to lois how superman was never real. Just a farm boys dream
I didn't come here to share negative thoughts about the show, I only did cause I wanted to know if it's good enough for me to watch(I've been putting it off ever since it was released). I spent most of my teens watching flash and arrow and really liked them at the beginning but didn't really understand what was wrong with the later seasons. Your videos helped me to realize what the problem was so I take your judgment very seriously. Anyway cheesy comment complete, thanks, bye. 👋
I enjoyed this show with the same enthusiasm as seasons 1 and 2 of the flash. I'm just praying that it doesn't follow in the flash's footsteps and keeps up its integrity!
season 2 hasn't failed yet. I like s2 for now. Even though, some of the plotlines are predictable. evil general, bizarro, etc. Just the actors and the character writing is solid. PS. I like stargirl, too. Their s1 villains are so well written. Heck, they made eclipso well. Hard endeavor.
Gonna be honest at first I thought this would be another generic show but as a matter of fact this is one if not the only thing worth watching from the arrowverse anymore
The first 5 episodes were perfect but after that the last episodes lacked the budget, still the music alone makes this show a 7/10, with everything added together it's a 15/10
Zack Synder looking at Superman: I’m about to end this man’s whole career Seriously most of my friends hate Superman because all they’ve seen is Batman v Superman
I was on the edge cus after Smallville....all were shi$)#...I actually liked the movies but not the series: but it had such a high score...now I know why. I'm gonna watch it. Thanks From Ethiopia
I think invicible and anime have proved that adults love anime coz the kids that grew up watching cartoons are adults now and the success of invicible defeats that statement (adults think anime is for kids)
It's pretty good as an entry level show But if you want some reading material I'd recommend Superman for All Seasons, All Star Superman, and Superman by Patrick Gleason and Peter J Tomasi
I don’t think you need to read or watch something else to get into this show. But Superman TAS is a good starting point for Superman in general. I would never recommend All Star Superman as your first Superman comic.
If you're into comics: Superman Secret Origins by Geoff Johns and Superman Peace on Earth by Alex Ross&Paul Dini are a MUST, short read and great examples of what Superman is. If yo're into animated stuff: Superman the Animated Series is good but for a movie, I'd recommend Supermanvs The Elite.
See one of the biggest thing I don't like about this show is how it's fans feel the need to tear down other shows just to bring this one up. It just feels like people aren't enjoying the show for what it is, they are just using it a way to be assholes. It's not fun discussing a show with others and half the time they are just being a dick and making fun of a show you enjoy. Everyone can have their opinions and criticisms, but why does it have to be so malicious and condescending? Superman & Lois has a different budget, is filmed differently, and was already said to have been written in a way to tell stories differently than the CW typically tells them. The show is nice and I love the way they handled some of their storylines, are there some glaring flaws yeah, but I'm excited to see how they continue moving forward.
