Even though it’s been three weeks since the breakup, it seems like months has gone by and it’s scary to think that my ex will ever come back, knowing that the words that killed me deep down were, “we’re done!” I never thought I would hear that from my girlfriend.

I did everything wrong. I didn’t know any of this stuff. It was to late by the time I found all this truth out. She’s got a new bf now. I finally stopped contacting her 4 weeks ago. Honestly? After 8 years together, 4 weeks of no contact i am already changing. I’m already starting to get over this. I didn’t think that could happen. I’m starting to have feeling like “I don’t think I want to be with her anymore actually” or “I think maybe I’d be happier with someone else”. Man I wish I cut communication a long time ago. Just happy I finally had the courage to do so.

Team: excellent topic and video. As a 'dumpee,' often we have no sympathy towards the 'dumper.' In fact, this may come a little bit late, but my advice to a 'dumper.' Don't Ghost and be transparent. Try being honest and up front. If and when you're convinced that the grass is greener elsewhere, tell your partner. Why? Simple, as I speak from experience. My former ghosted me after 5+ years. We had a good thing going. I was crazy about her, etc., Fast forward, she's tried coming back at least 5 times. I can forgive most things, but betrayal in a committed relationship has consequences. My point to dumpers is simple. Be honest to have a second chance. In my case, I might have done so if she had been honest. Dating doesn't mean married! Break ups happen. If only, right? Well, all situations are different, but have intestinal fortitude/guts to be honest. It just may pay in the end. Thanks again for the words of wisdom. I have indeed learned so much from you three. I reached out to my ex once, recently. I mentioned I had read a book that had reminded me of him. He responded that he had read the book and liked it, and that it had “obviously” made him think of me. Before that, he has reached out three times: once just to talk (which was baffling to me), another time after a relative of mine died, and another one in order to return my things before he went away for a semester. On that last visit he said he was nostalgic. But he’s quite the avoidant, that stubborn man.

I have been so torn up since my breakup. I haven’t eaten in a month just drinking protein shakes and going to the gym again. Down 30lbs in a month. Ran into my ex at the store this week. She just stared at me and said “you look great.” We hugged the whole world stopped we were both love struck. We hugged again she buried her face in my chest. She said I should call her sometime and she said she missed me. I screwed up and called her the next night. It was the first time she ever verbalized considering getting back together. She said she was sad and confused. I told her she should take a step back and consider her options. She has been in a rebound relationship since we broke up. She went and spent the weekend with her new man, who I am sure has no idea she has been talking and texting me on and off. I screwed up and texted her again last night. I listened to videos all night. I will not contact her again unless she reaches out to me again. I think she was close but I relieved her anxiety. Won’t happen again.

I'm going through not sure what number breakup and so much more in between at this moment. So yes if you leave them alone they will come back but every single time I grow mature and try to find myself again he finds me, sees my worth as I'm growing and hooks me again. Then puts me through a crazy cycle And I'm in love with him so it's hard to let him go. And now we have our son 💙 and that makes it so much harder to let him go and I don't know where to start. I'm so scared he will try to do this again and I need to find my strength back to say no even when I don't want to. Thanks for sharing this. This time I will only reach out when it's only for our son and start all over again, hope for positive energy and have hope for the future. Hope the best for him. 100% true. All of it. I did write letters and went to see her. At first she still responded nicely. But after a while, she got annoyed and angry. Which I can totally understand, now 2 years later. I don't know if there's still a chance for us. But fact is that she has to make the move.

I originally took the breakup well, but after a couple weeks I suddenly broke down and made a few of the mistakes listed. Wish I had learned about all this before and it's all so counter intuitive! We both did a lot of "direct-indirect" reaching out to each other for ~8 months. Then I finally did no-contact, which resulted in them blocking me on social media. The "good times reminder" got zero response. I have since not reached out any more. They still choose to interact with me during some online gaming in a group though, which is some mixed messaging. It's been 2 months of that.

My boyfriend and I broke up a few times in a period of three years this past three weeks ago he broke up with me the first week I was a shock I did reach out to him we both talked for a little bit but he was very clear that he didn’t want to get back together with me so I finally decided to be having some respect for myself and leave him alone I agree with all three of you it is like grieving like somebody died inside of me it is so difficult to overcome the situation especially because I was let go by him I was dumped by him thank you so much for this video

I reached out to my ex 3 times since the breakup and each was about a week or just a couple days apart and she answered and got colder towards me and the last time she just plain ignored me trust me no contact would of been better

We’re currently doing the 2-2-3 visitation schedule with our 2 kids both under age 3. It’s extremely hard we talk everyday (kid related) and see each other multiple times a week. I’ve begged, flowers, you name it. it’s been almost 3 months since she moved out. She has been very firm the last month it’s never happening again. I was at fault for the split and she can only see my faults still. At what time frame should I move on. Very much hoping to repair for our family and getting another chance to do better.

Answering Craig's personal experience request. I tried the grand gesture 2 days after the breakup: 2 dozen very expensive apology roses 🌹 I was ignored and currently still am being. I was lucky to discover No Contact soon after and stay in it. Wish me luck.

I did the begging, pleading, made a picture collage board, bargaining, etc. None of it worked and only made her avoid me more. No contact and breaking that codependency is the only thing that worked. She's purposely leaving stuff in my house now, coming to pick items up in small batches just to have some kind of contact with me. When she does contact me I do not ignore her, just like yall said. Do not ignore, but I let her know I'm doing perfectly OK 😌

I've been caving into my abandonment fears and past traumas. Staying in a one sided toxic relationship because I won't let go, she keeps throwing me bread crumbs but blows me off more than not. I don't feel the love from her anymore like I used to when the relationship was good. I feel powerless, she started working at a strip club so now I feel more insecure and haven't been able to express myself in a way that she seems to care. It's against my instinct to let go but in the mean time I watch your videos at least 3 hours a day and am trying to work on my fitness as well as quit my gambling addiction. I really appreciate Margret and celebrate the life she had and her service to all of us.

Are you referring to this advice for all relationships? Is there a difference between someone who is married vs just boyfriend and girlfriend? I don't see any distinction in your videos. And what about the duration of time together? Shouldn't there be a difference between 6 months and a 20-year relationship? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Craig is absolutely right. I did all the classic mistakes during the breakup because it was mostly my fault, so I was desperate and then I tried to communicate after almost a year. I just asked how she was doing- no answer of course. I found out that she rushed into a new relationship less than a couple of months after our breakup. Don't do the same mistakes guys.

Reached out too many times I was ignored everytime

I've initiated contact once after the break up since the dust has settled a bit, sent a song I thought he'd like and the response was pretty friendly and he said it was pretty groovy, before that after we met up and talked for closure a week after breaking up and I came to terms with why we ended and knowing what I needed to do to be better for me, he had always been the one reaching out by sending funny videos or a part of a song he thought I'd enjoy but I really don't think I'm ready to initiate contact being that ill always have some feelings for him, my first real love and compatible person I've been with, just not sure if he initiates contact should I respond.. any advice would be helpful (also its been a month since things ended)

What if your ex came back and things were starting to get repaired, but then she suddenly pulled away and has now put up a massive wall? I suspect it’s the depression (she has a lot going on), but I can’t know for sure. What makes it worse is we managed to finally meet for the first time after 4yrs, and she hasn’t replied back to me or my mom since then. It went pretty well I think but it was obvious that her mind was elsewhere.. Which was about what I expected.. Help? :/ I really love this girl and care about her, but she won’t communicate anymore.. I was in no contact and she was doing all of the initiating, saying she wants me back, etc. But then now I’m left feeling utterly confused and hopeless..

I reached out but it wasn’t bad after 3 weeks. Only because she has been back and fourth getting her things. She gave me a hug and said so love you and to stay in touch. They broke up with me on 3/30 and I went to no contact. They texted me 4/9 but it was a message that seemed like they were still blaming me for their misfortune. I ignored that message. I’m staying strong with no contact so i can be better to myself and I won’t reach out until I’m good and ready and over it.

Craig thanks for the videos, wanted to ask a interesting question if you don’t mind. If an ex lives so close like lives down the same street and you have to go by her house to go work etc… what is the best way to deal with this as I had to block her on all social media and messaging as i thought it was the best for me As it was too hard for me. But nearly 2 years on I’m fine now and cool with things but does that mean you unblock someone or live the way it is till the make contact.

I reached out to my ex twice. not sure if this attempts really count as reaching out. 1st , I added her to facebook and as a result she blocked me right away. the 2nd is I sent him a drunk email message saying "Hi Crush", and she didn't reply. With all due respect, I even find this video funny. My ex doesn’t want to see me, she deleted her insta account and created another one just to forget about me.

We have been on/off since July when she messed up bad. Our last day seeing g each other was 9/30/21 - I called her on my birthday 10/18/21 without her reaching out first. We agreed to get together, We saw each other for a week (4 different times) & then then decided she wanted to revert back to not seeing each other again. Now it's no contact.

I reached out after a month with a "happy memory" text which was ignored, 9 days later I sent a text about meeting up and exchanging things which got a reply 3 days later but I was busy that day, they then ignored my reply for the next 3 days before sending a very blunt text, I didn't reach out for 3 weeks until I really wanted to get rid of their stuff (for my own wellbeing and recovery), they replied after 2 days and then we met up and it was short and uneventful. Haven't heard from them since and if I were to guess I won't hear from them ever again but I have become okay with this. I might extend the hand of friendship someday in a year or so maybe

Ok, now I didn’t really reach out on this year on Halloween, I “accidentally” FaceTimed her and hung up. A few seconds later, she did the same. It all happened when, on the same night, I had an image pop in my head of her kissing someone (more of a peck on the lips) and I started to hyperventilate. I couldn’t get that image out of my head and I started crying uncontrollably the next two days, as I did on day one of the breakup. Perhaps our souls are connected and are one. After that happened, I noticed that she unblocked me on Facebook. Now, she blocked me on Facebook but not Instagram and I wondered why only on one platform. 🤷🏻

It's been almost a month since she left me. We were together for almost 3 years and only lived together for 6 months. We had a rough month or 2, it was just a very stressful time. We had so many good times I can't even keep count but i could count the bad times. I reached out a little over a week ago but before that was about 3 weeks ago and it was sincere but no grand jesture. I won't be reaching out but it's hard not to think about her.

Hi guys and chat, I just started recently watching these videos and they have helped alot, the mother of my children left me back on Feb.and has made no attempted to fix things with me even tho I have asked her.I wish I saw these videos when it happened bcs I made all the wrong choices, I'm tring to do the no contact phase buts it's kinda hard cause I have 4 kids with her and tend to see her everyday picking up and dropping off the kids, do you guys have advice for me on how to handle it?, so far I have controlled myself on not to tex her or contact her for unnecessary stuff. My ex just said he doesn't know why, but he felt like he didn't want to spend time with me, and he feels like he is causing me to waste my life. This and other things makes me believe he is a Fearful Avoidant. It's been only 10 days. Seems like a year. So weird how the time element gets so distorted to the person who has been "let go".

Is there ever a distinguishable point where once they start reaching out that it's okay to start reaching out back? I feel my ex becomes stubborn sometimes where they stop reaching out because they don't want to be the only one reaching out all the time. I'm afraid they'll think I don't care or I've moved on completely and I'm afraid of halting the progress I have with her. Should I stay in no contact until more advancements are made (we meet in person)? Or should it be just let her reach out a certain percentage of the time (80 or 90%) so she can still feel some of the loss, but I still show interest by reaching out?

My ex did reach out after 11 months. They want to work it out. I asked if the other affair was over and they said yes; but with no details. Do I question the lack of details or leav it alone. They just said it over.

Last time I talked with my ex was 24.10 and I told her I won't contact her again but she can contact me and she's always be in my heart. After that I saw her in a bar and I was there talking with other girls. She left the bar, she was there with some random dude, maybe a friend. Who knows? So no contact going strong and I doubt she's missing me or thinking about me. I did give her in May a handwritten letter saying I'll take her to Paris for shopping. I doubt she's contacting me again. If someone is coming back don’t you think they will come back as hot and better or really falling in love like ever before? That’s the only hope to reconsider if they’re never sure of having real feeling for you

My ex ended the relationship by ghosting me. I spent a week reaching out. I stopped for some time. Then reach out by phone and text still nothing. I got desperate and sent a good well or clean slate email. Every effort was ignored and only made me feel worse. When someone walks away you have to walk in the opposite direction. Chasing after them will only hurt you.

Going through this now with NC. Except my situation looks hopeless because she transferred back to her home town 1900 miles away and blocked me on everything

I reached out many many times and it didn’t do me any good. It left him ignoring me. It’s a difficult situation though. I made him leave my home and then he tried to repair it. Things got so bad that he didn’t want me back and then I never gave him Space. What if you had a 7yr relationship n then broke up for 2 months n tried periodically n they came back for another 3 yrs n only wanted a first child from you which is now 2yrs old going on 3yrs old. In a total of 10yrs of a relationship. N they decide to talk about the child ONLY but as silence happens the dumper starts up something else n so on n so on. What DOES that mean. But she also says I DONT WANT A RELATIONSHIP "RIGHT" n you look confused about that n then she says I DONT want a relationship with you but with a smile or a smerk on there face. The guy I dated for a month and a half came back after almost 2 months of NC. Everything was going great at first then I realise that he wouldn’t try to meet my needs so I stood up for myself. My Ex reached out after 34 days of no contact, and still sometimes she writes me

I didn't reach out to my ex, she has contacted me 4-5 times since September 2 calls in October, even last night a weirdly indirect direct message but I got a wishy-washy answer this morning so I don't really think much will come of anything. Hey coach Craig. Wondering your thoughts. It’s been 8.5 months NC. I’ve dropped 85lbs, quit my bad habits (that lead to the breakup), got a promotion at work. Changed my life completely and many thanks to your videos. I’ve also started dating again and feel pretty good. As of late she has gone from posting super positive (going out partying) things on social media to posting really sad posts, etc. I’m wondering if this is dumpers regret but also seeing some of the great things I have done. I reached out to my ex the beginning of this year with a surprise visit with flowers and a letter. We ended up dating again until early September. I want to reach out, but I know that I'm dishonoring her, myself and the relationship we had by doing that. She ended things and I need to hear her and give her her need of space from me. It's painful and even tho my reach out garnered amazing memories with the person I love it ultimately didn't result in the results I wanted. I've heard from others, that it is acceptable to make "smart" no contact if there is a significant Life event.
