We are installing the ‪@ClassicInstrumentsBoyneCity‬ ‪@HolleyPerformance‬ cluster for the 1973-87 Chevrolet C/K10-20-30. In this video I go over the wiring from a stock cluster to the aftermarket cluster and what wires you will need from an LS swapped PCM that communicate with the instruments. A lot of this will apply even with a stock truck that has not been LS swapped. Please note that individual years and models have some differences in the wiring colors etc, you should verify each wire and color relative to your truck, Suburban or Blazer. Come back and watch our future content as I will post another video on the set up for the instrument cluster.

Thanks buddy! I tried to explain it best I could, there’s always some small stuff that gets forgotten or left out of course though.

where did you get the other covers for the AC VENT and windshield wiper
@cwsgarage
@cwsgarage Год назад
I'm not sure if I know what you're asking about. The windshield wiper switch on the 81-91 trucks, suburbans and blazers are on the turn signal stalk instead of under the cluster. The AC vents are just the factory ones. The instrument cluster bezel is the factory bezel from 1986.

Good stuff man. New to the channel. Where’d you get that wiring diagram book?
@cwsgarage
@cwsgarage Год назад
Thanks for watching! It’s actually just in the Haynes service manual for 1973-87 Chevy trucks and suburbans. It’s a little vague and doesn’t cover every detail that is specific to different optioned trucks but it’s somewhat helpful.

What would I do for my 2 white generator power lights that are for my alternator
@cwsgarage
@cwsgarage Год назад
Shouldn’t need to wire those in, I would just heat shrink over them. The 12v power is what feeds the volt meter now.
@averycole1408
@averycole1408 Год назад
@@cwsgarage why wouldn’t I need them anymore? Don’t help power the alternator? If I don’t need them why were they installed like that previously? Thanks for the info ahead of time
@cwsgarage
@cwsgarage Год назад
@@averycole1408 I’m not sure if I understand. The 2 wires are just going to the old instrument cluster right? Did your truck have all gauges or “dummy lights”?

Where are you located? Judging by some of the stuff on your wall, maybe close to DFW?

Two wires from the cluster or from the ECM?

@@averycole1408 if you are using a gen3 LS then you need the Dark green with a white stripe, pin 50 on the red ECU connector. It’s the “4k” signal.

Then you need to connect the white wire of the instrument cluster harness to the HEI "tach signal" you'll have to run a wire if your factory cluster didn't have a tach. There should only be one wire on the Classic Instruments cluster, the white one for a tach.

I have two pink wires for my fuel, one for each tank, how would I wire that to the gauge ?
@cwsgarage
@cwsgarage Год назад
Are they both going to the instrument cluster? I would imagine the selector switch determines which one is sending the signal to the gauge. I’ll see if I can find a better answer and get back to you.
@averycole1408
@averycole1408 Год назад
@@cwsgarage yes they’re both going to the cluster. I would greatly appreciate any help
@cwsgarage
@cwsgarage Год назад
Are you sure that they are both going to the sending units of the tanks? When wiring this truck I only used one tank, but I don’t remember there being two wires for the sending unit at the cluster. I believe they ran through the switch then one wire to the gauge. What year truck is it?
@averycole1408
@averycole1408 Год назад
@@cwsgarage yes. I rewired it all myself with the “painless” wiring harness
@cwsgarage
@cwsgarage Год назад
Ohh okay. I think you need to wire them to the selector and then from the selector to the gauge. Check out this post on 73-87chevytrucks forum. forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?PHPSESSID=f422194c9bc00ecd33fcae3b7216f1eb&topic=37989.0
