That "kind stranger" is my hero of a brother Loren Ennis. An avid backtrack snowboarder he is well educated in avalanche safety and preparedness and luckily always carries his rescue equipment and shovel on him in his pack. We are very grateful he is safe.
What a powerful story. A stranger saved her life. It touched my heart.I was in tears. The reporter did an excellent job❄💙❄💙❄💙 I know there was a life lost today💔🕯💔
Its my brother. He was caught in the avalanche as well and slid 800 feet down the mountain before he was able to swim out to the side. When it stopped he heard a woman screaming buried under the snow. He was able to locate and shovel her out before she suffocated with his safety shovel he always carries in his pack. To all skiers out there, avalanche preparedness and safety courses are your friend and can save your life - and help you save others.
This story really touched my heart. 😢 I go snowboarding up there at Tahoe regularly. We were just up there last week. Thank God you are ok. I'm sorry for the other person who wasn't so lucky. My condolences and prayers go to his family and friends. 🙏😥
In the tv. Series show MacGyver, he survived by using his ski pole to breath through, and by using his zipper and a piece of cloth from his jacket to make a small parachute, he stuffed it in the ski pole, then blew it threw up to the top of the snow, like blow gun, then Pete his friend and boss, saw it go up in the air, that's how they found him in the avalanche.
That's good news. The first report I heard was from a guy on the chairlift when it happened. He said he saw the guy's wife get buried by the avalanche. I'm glad she got rescued.
KT22 is for younger advanced skiers - 22 kickturns. Avalanche gear is routine in EU, airbag goes off buying you oxygen and time and beacon. Do indulge in high risk sports, but spend the money on safety like smart ppl do. Ski resort operators - you need to stock this and recommend it.
He is, that is my brother - Dr. Loren Ennis (PT). He is a seasoned boarder who is avalanche safety certified and luckily always carries his rescue kit on him. He was swept up in the avalanche as well and after he was able to swim out to the side he was able to locate her location from her screams and dug her out with his safety shovel before she suffocated. Avalanche safety courses can save your life - and help you save others. ❤
Either with a beacon (transmits your position) or via probing (sticking a pole into the snow). Most important thing to do is not panic if you're buried. Which is what she focused on. With normal/slow breathing you have about 10 min, but panicked breathing will bring that down to 5.)
The kind stranger is my brother, Dr. Loren Ennis (a local Reno Physical Therapist) who is a seasoned boarder and is avalanche safety certified. He was also caught in the avalanche but was able to swim out to the side. When it stopped he heard her screaming buried under the snow. He always carries a rescue shovel in his gear pack and was able to shovel her out before she suffocated. He also always boards with a beacon since he regularly does off terrain boarding. Avalanche safety courses can save your life and help you save others.
