X-MEN '97 1x8 Tolerance Is Extinction Part 1 : The UN reveals to the world that Xavier is alive, causing anti-mutant riots to break out across the United States. Cable explains to the X-Men that the Genosha massacre is an "absolute point" in time that cannot be changed, and Bastion will use it to start a 300-year war that will lead to the enslavement of mutants in a human utopia. Following a lead from the future, Cyclops, Jean and Cable travel to Harmony, Pennsylvania. They learn that Bastion was conceived after his father was infected with a techno-organic virus, creating a human-machine hybrid that is more evolved than the Sentinels, Master Mold and Nimrod. Members of the UN's "Operation: Zero Tolerance" (OZT) express concern over the massacre and ask Dr. Cooper to monitor Bastion, who reveals to her how he is turning humans into Prime Sentinels like Trask. Prime Sentinels activate around the world, attack mutants, capture Jubilee and Roberto and burn down Xavier's school. A horrified Cooper releases Magneto, who travels to the North Pole and uses his abilities to emit a massive electromagnetic pulse, shutting down electricity around the world and disabling all the Prime Sentinels in the process. Soon after, Xavier returns to Earth and summons the X-Men to his location, realizing that Magneto has declared war on humanity.

@@michaelbannister7412 this seems to be the overarching theme of this season and hopefully the message of the last two episodes: humans need to stop being neutral toward mutant suffering. Their ignorant indifference is downright neglectful at this point, as it allows the haters to harm the mutants without consequence. Valerie seems to be the first human to own up to her mistakes and actually do something for mutants at a great cost to herself. Hopefully, Charles' message will be directed towards humans this time and others will follow. That or we get all out war. Which is satisfying in the spectacle kind of way but not so much in the message

6:20 Bastion is not a mutant. He's basically an organic android. A combination of both Master Mold and Nimrod. Nimrod is an upgraded Sential from the future. Think of him as Marvel's version of the T-1000 from Terminator. Hope this makes sense! 🙏🏽💪

The cameo was significant because Magneto was present at the meeting although in chains and he now knows every person and every nation that was involved in the Genocide in Genosha. Magneto will get his revenge on everyone that was involved.

Didn't even realize the Nathan thing with Cyclops until you said it! Fun fact, the Porsche's license plate reads 'SL1M' as in 'Slim', Cyclops nickname int he comics!

I think you missed what Beast said after Cables AI brought up their multiple attempts to stop the attack....he mentioned that he's heard about this phenomenon. That it's a Canon event. The event will play out the same way across all time lines. It can't be changed.. time itself will always pull you away before you can do anything to make that change..that's why Cable keeps failing

cartoons like this show the big societal shift we've had since the 90s. Watching it when we were little we were like "of course magneto is the villain, we need to try to get along!". Now, after our government has failed us so many times, after we minorities have been pushed around so often, we look at it again and it's like.... Magneto was right.

Great reaction. Yes, that was Doctor Doom, the GOAT of all supervillains and Marvel's poster-villain, the biggest of Big Bads. Doom is the most dangerous man on earth. He was telling Bastian that, eventually, he will remove him from the chessboard (if someone or group doesn't do that first). And Doom can do it also. Doom wants the world. He doesn't hate the genetically gifted of the world. He wants them happy, not slaves. Happy under Doom, that is. He wants all humanity happy under Doom. Doom can override Cerebro and Magneto's magnetism. Doom can defy Xavier, Grey, Onslaught, and the Purple Man Zebediah Kilgrave (see JESSICA JONES) without assistance from his technology, just by sheer will power. Doom was Stan Lee's and Jack Kirby's favorite supervillain. Doom often gets close to the present world-threat du jour. Then Doom gets rid of them. Or helps the superheroes, X-Men included, get rid of them. Why is Doom with Bastian? Like the GODFATHER says, "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer." Doom's agenda is the same as "teaming up" with Namor, or with the "Acts of Vengeance," or with Osborn's "Cabal," or with the Leader's "Intelligencia," or with the supervillains of Shooter's SECRET WARS: Doom.

@Deesha Always Watching,the blonde lady in this episode was Val Cooper,the UN Ambassidor or Cabinet member for US President Kelly that Magneto in excepting Genosha into the UN& the person who voiced her was the OG voice of Jean back in the days of the original series,like how the people behind this new rendition of this X-Men show swap voice actors- OG Gambit Chris Potter as Cable(OG is Lawrence Bayne)?.

i caught a stomach bug and have been binging youtube and now all your x men vids...you got a new fan! that being said i wanted to comment on robertos mom..latin american culture is weirdly conservative especially wealthy latino families. they stick to order as if it was a religion..my moms the same way she would feel her duty to society supercedes personal stuff so for her she was doing the right thing. Saving face is also a big thing in our cultures.That being said, she was pretty cold about it though she made some of those choices without much hesitation so its not an excuse. just an observation.

Jadd J.A.D.D. Jadd Morph knows Logan more about Logan than anyone. Doctor Strange reference is intriguing, and seeing Spider-Man Spider-Man, there is awesome. Hearing Charles saying the iconic line is hair-raising. I'm so mad at Roberto's mum. And Magneto is right.

Magneto was a great leader to the X-Men. Hopefully they stay loyal to him, Rogue will side with him for sure, Cyclops has shown that he agrees with Magneto as well.

Magneto just went back to being a villain and declared War on humanity. The X men aren't going to side with him because even if some of them like Cyclops agree with him. They still believe in Xavier's vision on mutant and human coexistence.

Hopefully, this time, his message will be directed more towards the neutral humans. Past is the time to teach them that they are morally equal to mutants. They know that. It's time they are pushed to act on it.

Sinister is a Mutate (Not a mutant) What separates a Mutant from a Mutate is that Mutants are born with the X Gene which manifests later in life granting them abilities. A Mutate is someone who got their abilities through external means such as experimentation or a freak accident.

5:00 In this series and the old comics, he is not. He's a mutate *Characters like Spider-Man and other superhuman characters are called when their not born with the X gene* However, in newer comics, he's considered a mutant.

Spider-Man was more f a cameo than guest star. All the cameos like Silver Samurai and Omega Red were tossed in to show how far reaching Magneto's attack really was.

Sinister is a mutate not a mutant. He wasn't born with powers or an x-gene. Apocalypse gave him powers and his longevity using alien tech.

8:48 I don't believe most of the prime sentinels really feel like mutants should be exterminated like Prime Trish was talking about, they are just programmed to hate Mutants and help Bastion in his plan. In the comics, a women who has the Sentinel Prime virus tells her mutant friend that she begins to have trouble even thinking about him as a human anymore. She later overcomes her Sentinel programming with Xaviers help and continues helping the X-Men with her Sentinel powers.

The writer is Marco de Mayo. The reason why Professor X crashed landed was because Magneto's pulse wave took out all electronics on Earth including civilian planes, cars, trains, ECT. He most likely killed a lot of civilians/humans as well.

Bastion is not a Mutant with a capital M. Mutants, like Magneto and the X-Men, all have the X Gene which gives them their power. Bastion was mutated by the Sentinel tech.

actually, as always, people go crazy out of fear. Magneto did not declare war - people achieved it themselves. Magneto is right about one thing - the desire to protect mutants, but he also contributed to this discord, because he did not consider people. As a result, one hatred is against another, but everyone suffers

they showed the collar... That is, from 1-5 episodes of suffering and throwing Rogue...It didn't make sense. Now it seems to me that she is just a stupid girl who had "no opportunity" to touch people without harm. But the screenwriter wanted a love triangle... Episode 8 is one of the best, naturally I had goosebumps while watching
