One of the biggest hassles with bike racks has always been taking off the front wheel, putting the bike on the rack, and then stashing the front wheel somewhere. Not only that--with a bunch of different front axle standards, you have to carry all kinds of adapters around. The Yakima Frontloader Bike Rack eliminates the hassle by allowing you to load the bike directly onto the car, wheels and all. The Frontloader works with all wheels sizes from 20-inch to full-size adult road bike wheels. The only places where the rack touches your bike are at the tires, so you don't have to worry about it scratching your frame. It's also compatible with any brake system and any frame configuration, so you don't have to carry adapters around with you."

Thanks for the review. With 60 wide crossbars, would there be room on top of a minivan for three of these fronloaders?

Nice bike rack! I see you only have the one kayak, seems only will work with one kayak not two. I understand why you're down to one. What are your future plans for the toys??

Yes we gifted the other kayak to a friend. It's going to be a long time before Kali and I will be kayaking together again, and when we do we'll probably get a 2 person one so we can bring Landyn. I think you could put 2 kayaks and 2 bikes on the rack by putting the kayaks in the middle, but it would be a pain to get everything on and off!

You can find the links to the Frontloader and all other racks mentioned in the review here: www.thefreedomtheory.com/yakima Also, I made a couple of mistakes in the video. That's what happens when you're hurrying to film during the baby's naptime! :) 1. The newer Yakima rack is the "HighRoad", not "Highroller" 2. The Frontloader fits 20-29 inch wheels and the HighRoad fits 26-29 inch. 3. The Frontloader fits tires up to 3 inches wide. The HighRoad officially fits tires up to 3.25 inches, but Yakima says this about the HighRoad (in answer to an Amazon question): "If your bike is a 29er, it will not work with more than 3.5" wide tires. If it is a 26" or 27.5", it will work with tires up to 4" wide. You would just need the 8002470 Fat Straps." 4. Yakima confirms that the rack will fit "almost" all aftermarket crossbars, not just Yakima ones.

So to steal the bike you steal the bike rack with it just by unscrewing it. lol

Yes I have them. I just didn't put them on during the demo. You could also use any bike lock to secure it to the rack. The rack itself can be (and in our case is) locked using SKS locks. Anything can be stolen of course, but the SKS locks are surprisingly sturdy.

Road Gear Reviews we need to find a good bike rack for our skoolie we are building. Don't need our expensive bikes getting damaged.

Yakima offers locks with this rack, but I didn’t like the suggested price tag. Opted for a 4’ cable lock($10). Locks rear wheels and frames of 2 bikes, AND roof rack. Hence, even front wheels can’t be stolen. Cheaper fix.
