The Irish Guy takes a look at the worst former player from each respective Premier League club who'd command a price tag of £50m plus in the modern transfer window, including the likes of Luke Shaw, Adnan Januzaj and Daniel Sturridge.
Bico Boy yeah but sometimes clubs put high prices on players cause they don’t want them to leave and if someone pays it then they won’t mind if they leave
Y’all need to understand the English tax in the transfer market.. if a players English they’re gonna be going for an extra 15-25m than they should be just because they’re of English nationality as every club in England needs a minimum numbers of English players. Also, in the transfer market nowadays you’re paying for potential more than current class
Let me remind you that this video is for "the worst" former players.. Perhaps if this video was to be "the best" former players, then we'd be talking about the God.
VDLS he once said he was the best in the ball in the 2003 arsenal squad, so apparently better then Henry, bergkamp, ljungberg etc. Hasn’t aged well since he got ruined by a 50 year old comedian at the Wembley cup
I am sorry when Samir Nasri was in his prime, he would've walked into any of the top six sides. That attack of RVP, Andre Arsharvin, Theo Walcott and Nasri right behind them was fantastic.
@@yudhabagaskara98 don't even compare that Danish lump to Arshavin. Arshavin was amazing for Zenit and for us on the national stage. Had a great start at Arsenal but got a bit lazy unfortunately. Wenger could have used him better.
Nasri was pretty inconsistent at Man City, but wasn't a _complete_ flop. In 13/14, for example, he was pretty electric and ended up with 11 goals and 12 assists in 46 games. It was hardly a Scott Sinclair or Wilfried Bony situation.
Defenders are over priced atm, look at Chelsea and Manchester United they cannot find a single world class central defender between them. Supply and demand
What makes it ridiculous is that some club thought its a fair price and bought him. Then other club thought the same so they put their similar player on that price tag too. Now the market price of any player on Tarkowsky's level are all ridiculous to the point it became normal.
@@saml6140 United will pay an initial fee of around 55m euros (£47m) for the 25-year-old, though add-ons could increase the overall cost to 80m euros (£67.6m). Source: BBC www.bbc.com/sport/football/51301424#:~:text=Manchester%20United%20have%20agreed%20a,euros%20(%C2%A367.6m).
Man U propaganda, they paid at least 65 million Euros (£59 million) for him not including the add-ons. Lisbon's vice-president confirmed it: talksport.com/football/669861/man-united-paid-how-much-value-fee-bruno-fernandes-sporting-lisbon-transfer/
@@pkingglazersout6665 i doubt if that is even fair. Quality is hard to rate considering only 23 players are chosen for the national team. And some good players are always left out. Like Laporte is usually left out of France. But we all know his quality
Best value for money henrik larsson 650.000 for money for celtic from psv he gave us 7 great year's then went on to Barcelona then Man United one of the great Legends of all time 🙌 also recovered from a leg break and came back better one of the greatest transfer's ever. Ged
Nasri was amazing back in the day, just RU-vid his last season at Olympique Marseille, that goal against Liverpool was a peach. Also was the 1st team Liverpool had lost at home in Europe in a long time...
leighton baines was one one of the best fullbacks of his generation and one of the best leftbacks ever to play the english game, 70 million for him in his prime would be a steal
I don’t get why people don’t understand that a ridiculous pricetag is only put on a player‘s head because they don’t want to sell but they recognise they might be forced to.
if the berahino situation had played out well west brom would have been so much better off. A PL 20 goal striker straight out the academy is ridiculous.
Your regularly scheduled reminder that teams don't set asking prices ridiculously high so teams will pay them, they set them ridiculously high so they won't. :)
Prime Leighton Baines would be a bargain at 70m in today’s market, created the most chances in Europe within an 18 month period, reliable set piece taker, solid defender and excellent going forward, not sure why the joke about him, at his best he was leagues ahead of Ben Chilwell, gutted we never got him for United
In fairness to Struddige, he would be worth 75m in 2013 if Todays market was back then, he was unplayable on his day, him and Suarez almost lifted a woeful Liverpool side to a league title
Players could easily end the inflation by not signing long contracts or renewals. From the players perspective he could :a) cost 50m and earn 100k a week. Or b) Be a free transfer and earn 200k a week.
Burnley don’t want to sell Tarkowski but if an offer of £50million comes that is his release clause. It is just like Messi has a 700million release clause. We don’t want to sell Tarkowski which is why it would cost so much to sign him.
As a Wolves fan, I was debating the exact same thing as you were. Jota is nowhere near as good as Robbie Keane (but then, I'm Irish so I would say that!). But genuinely, there aren't many others unless you go back to the 1970s and beyond. We sold Steve Daley in 1979 for over £1.4m; then a record fee in English football! So maybe him. And, surprise surprise, it was Man City that forked out the huge fee!!!! 'King' John Richards also hit 30 goals in all competitions for us in 1979, so in the modern-day, he'd easily be £50m.
there is a reason why brighton ask for 50 million for dunk. THEY DON'T WANT TO SELL HIM. they put ridiculous price tag on him so that it would ward off buyers. it is not because pf overhype or anything it is because they don't want to sell him. if they do get the money then it is the buyer's fault for being so desperate.
I think Jermaine Jenas got closer to his hyper then Kieran Dyer ever did... Rumours of £30mil offers from Manchester United before the all injuries (and Lee Bowyer) hit him
The inflation doesn’t really seem to affect Tottenham. Eriksen leaving for 15 mill, (yes Ik he only had a couple months left on his contract) Then signing hojberg for 3 mill (+kwp) And 15 for Doherty
Ever since psg paid 200mil for Neymar transfers have been ridiculous, 80 mil for maguire, 80 mil valuation of grealish and 136 million for 1 good season at Dortmund, its ridiculous.
I got an idea for a video what would happen if you were to strip the starting 11 of every premier league club and not replace them where would they be in the next 5 to 10 years
I think tarkowski is good but centre backs are the hardest to judge by stats,so many variables, style of play and their role in the team, tarkowsku makes so many blocks and tackles partly because hes good but also because burnley sit so deep and soak up shots all game, whereas in a high press, ball dominant side he would make way less as their is less to do,maybe he would then get caught out for pace? Who knows, like i said hes good but stats for cb's are less relevant than any other position
Sometimes I have night terrors of signing Andy Carroll after the main inflation happened. And it makes me grateful that £35 million is getting off lightly. I can remember people taking the piss out of Liverpool for having the world's most expensive keeper ever for less than a few hours... It's a good job Kepa lived up to his price tag cause if not it would've made them look really stupid
50 million for Nasri now might be expensive but he was actually good back in his early City years. It was his attitude that cause his career to go down the toilet drains.
Damn why the hell did you have to go in on nasri like that. At his best he was a starter for arsenal and one of the best city teams there was. And I would gladly pay 50mill for prime nasri on the wing for a couple of seasons
