Literally every young striker that gets a start for Newcastle gets called the next Shearer! They're just willing it to happen! The really dumb thing about it though is that Shearer got his start at Southampton and when he joined Newcastle was already a Superstar who had won the Prem with Blackburn and was England's #9!
@@cherishnash365 Kane and Shearer are very different players... Kane is a much more rounded footballer than Shearer ever was. The only similarity is they both scored lots of goals. Honestly, given his range of passing I could see Harry Kane moving into midfield later in his career and doing much better there than Rooney. Especially with the embarrasment of riches England is starting to get right now up front.

United fans could argue that Rooney has been the closest to Shearer, but for natural goalscoring talent an English #9 since the late 90's has needed to be someone who can be a poacher in the 6yard area, can use their head for a good 15-25% of their goals, and also be a threat when 30yrds from goal with a yard of space... the likes of gary lineker (poacher, never scored from further than 20yds), micheal owen (scored as many career goals with his head or outside the box as my grandma) and Rooney had loads of penalties and few headers but was good inside and outside the box....had vardy been spotted at an earlier age he could of been a great, but still not the physical aerial presence that Shearer and kane possess

I would pick Gerrard for a very simple reason, he was the player who managed to keep us afloat when team was in.. rather bad condition. Without him and his hard work we wouldn't have Klopp, Salah, TAA, VVD and so on, we would fight for a scarps with low tier clubs like everton.
