If I saw some kid who looked exactly like my husband when he was a teenager and seemed suspiciously determined to elbow his way into my family, I'd assume I wasn't the only teen girl my husband impregnated back then and that I was looking at my his illegitimate son by another woman who is trying to insert himself into our household.

They definitely don't, but I'm pretty sure Matthew Perry looks so bad because he was addicted to drugs for many years. That's why his weight fluctuated so much on Friends. I also think Matthew Perry looks like a average guy, while Zac Efron is just conventionally attractive.

What actually ruined the marriage was when mark used all of their savings on cosmic surgery to look like chandler from friends. It wasn't stated in the movie, because it was deemed irrelevant to the plot

this is easily the worst part. there are arguably many problematic elements in the film, but if I'm honest, I do genuinely enjoy it and think it is overall fun with a few good comedic moments. Zac did a good job with what he was given and showed he was capable of acting outside Disney. the weird dynamic though is SO uncomfortable and never went away even with rewatches. was the "comedy" really worth it?? both parties must be traumatized

Looking back on this, Mike not finishing that important game and Scarlet choosing then to tell him is a hilarious foible. I get it’s stressful but his potential for actually supporting her was so much higher if he won? She’d still have been pregnant after the game was over? Also why was his girlfriend taking a pregnancy test during his game? If they love each other so much, then she’d know how important it was. Weird timing.

Welp, that was that awkward moment (no pun intended on another Troy Bolton movie starring T’Chaka) when people became ex-shippers of Zac Efron & Michelle Tratchenberg (even after the disappointment that was this movie, though can be ironically enjoyed for nostalgia purposes), and believe it or not, I will always a Zachelle shipper even after this incident of a movie that makes me all the more eager to make a future (possibly theatrical) episode series by my own animation studio (Frigid Fire), SportsBrawl also starring Zac Efron that would very likely look like himself (except he has black oval eyeshadow in the late 2000s (High School Musical 3, Zac Efron’s Pool Party and 17 Again) with Peter Dinklage as a golf ball, Noah Crawford as a soccer ball, SteveGreeneComedy and James Maslow (not only as the Vega Bros. like in PowerBursters, but also tennis balls) and more with the eyes of Zac’a character Kowalski Amaya Jr.!

Lmao and the whole “gross teen parent/child desires to bone the unknown relative” thing in this doesn’t work as well as it does in Back to the Future, where it’s already gross. At least in BTTF she’s very quickly NOT into it and doesn’t literally chase him around the room as he’s clearly and vocally saying no. And Marty’s mom has no reason to recognize the son she hasn’t had yet, but Michelle Trachtenburg definitely could’ve seen pictures of her with her teenaged dad who is literally just Zach Efron

I definitely watched this as a child and I absolutely remember being totally uncomfortable with the daughter trying to jump the father scene. I didn't know how to explain it then, but I do now. It was uncomfortable watching the much younger girl portrayed as becoming a single-minded actual animal to throw herself at her unwilling dad. It felt sick and looks kinda vile.

The dance moves at the basketball game were from House Party. A pretty big movie franchise in the early 90s. It actually came out in 1990 so there’s no way he would have known those dance moves already, since it was supposed to be early 1989.

Fun fact, in the Korean version of this (which is a tv show) they do explain to everyone what the hell happened to Mark. They say Mark wasn't actually the friend's son, but was actually looking for his long-lost dad or whatever and the friend was helping him by acting like his father in front of other people, so in the end he found his dad and left to live in another country with him. Still filled with holes, but hey, it's something.

I love this movie as a teenager, but it was mostly because because I enjoyed the fantasy thanswer it that a big enough change could make emotionally distant fathers care about their relationships with their families again. Spoiler alert: It never actually works that way

I know! Like, I understand if Nick doesn't like sword fights, and that it's weird to include a sword fight in this movie since it's an body age swap comedy life lesson thing... but the princess bride is a fantasy adventure! Of course it's going to contain sword fights! And they are some of the most iconic sword fights in all of film history! Also as an example of "too long and boring" sword fights, he listed anything with Orlando Bloom in it... could you even imagine Lord of the Rings or Pirates of the Caribbean with no sword fights?

The Ned and Mike fight scene makes no sense because if you really put a 40 year old next to their 17 year old self, they would look exactly the same, just younger and you would 100% recognize that person. If you wanna see this concept done right, and I highly reccomend for watching/review, check the series Go Back Couple: >It's also about a couple that married very young and 20 years later are about to divorce, except is better cause both the man and the woman go back to when both of them are 20, so the whole series they share the experience together, ergo the ending feels a hell of a lot more earned. >They start out by showing you their relationship in the present, the strain and how both of them are suffering, and then only show you a little flashback at the end of each ep of what their relationship was when they were young, which serves to contrast amazingly. That way you don't lose focus from their issues or idealize this concept of everything was better when i was young, but still get this little nudge to remember they did love eachother at one point. >Instead of a weirdass incest-y side-plot, here each of them sort of try to get with their then-crush, and it's fun at the beginning but I love how it's acknowledged later on that what they did was ridiculous because they both are twice their age mentally and both ended up fulfilling a more parental/nurturing role for their ex-crushes and it was actually wholesome. It's not a perfect show but it also has some other interesting stuff going on and I appreciate the themes far better so a total rec.

I saw this movie in theaters when it came out, purely by accident. We went to go see I Love You, Man but it was rated R and I forgot to bring my ID, and apparently I didn't look 19 so I couldn't get in lol. So it was either see this movie or walk around the mall for two hours. It was a suitable waste of time, I suppose. Glad to see you drag it though haha.

I always wondered what the principal thought happened to the nerd's 'son'. She didn't know about his best friend magically turning 17 again so what was she told? Did she think that he lost custody? Did he make up a story about his son dying or moving away? I heard somewhere that in some places kids can move out before turning 18 with parent's permission but I don't know if that applies here.

This movie pissed me off to no end when it first came out because I had no tolerance for foolishness as a child. Not only did my suspension of disbelief fail to kick in but it was also just terribly unfunny to me. I was definitely too young to get some of the jokes but they’re still not funny as an adult so 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m pretty sure that I boycotted Zac Efron until he was in Charlie St. Cloud because I hated this movie so much lmao

Great that they completely misunderstood the whole point of the shitty plot they chose. The idea of the Scrooge plot is generally that the main char learns that they made the wrong choice -- so what is Zac supposed to learn? That he should have given up family and played basketball, instead? Obviously, they should have done it different -- 80's Zac chooses basketball over family, and is miserable, and learns he made a mistake, blah blah blah. How do movies like this get made?
