That is a really good question. There must be tiny little creatures that we can't normally see, because tiny spiders come into our houses and grow bigger, so they must be eating something.
Adults and spiderlings eat the same things: bug guts. The spiderlings can only eat stuff they can kill, though, so they are limited to smaller insects.
They eat fruit flies, and most houses have a few of those things flitting about. Also gnats, springtails, other spiders, silverfish, etc. Remember, they're venomous. They can kill things ten times their size. They can bring down fruit flies, which is like a human turning a 2 year old loose in a field to kill a cow.
I accept the venom is plenty, if they can bite the fly. But how does something that small even get near to biting distance of a huge, rampaging fly in the first place?
3:33 "It's true there are only two kinds of functional gametes in humans." Then blah blah blah development! Dawkins did NOT say you can "peek in diapers" and determine future sexual preference. So, if "there are only two kinds of functional gametes in humans," then it follows that there must only two kinds of functional gamete PRODUCERS in humans. M & F Are you saying that there is a regular occurrence of human individuals that produce BOTH "kinds of functional gametes" at _any time_ in their lives?
Theists : _"Evolution means that skeletons developed first over millions of years, then eventually flesh evolved. That's why ancient fossils are always just bones!"_
Thank you very much. I follow scimandan too. And it's veeeery interesting to hear you about your field of knowledge. I actually read some stuff about eye evolution but you are much more clear and understandable. Thx again. And thx for helping SciMaDan if he wants it
No one here is wearing a goofy suit making them look like a comic-book villain, or has been censured and kicked out of a scientific society. How do you define "beta"?
About Dembski... I saw a couple of the "debates" he had while on tour with Dennet. It's all fake. Dennet knew it, Dembski knew it. They also know that actual educated people will not fall for this scam. They do it because people PAY them to do it. They are paid to keep a certain type of person ignorant. Dennet had no problem taking some of this money for himself, btw. Not to speak ill of the dead, but yeah... he saw no problem taking their money to argue AGAINST them, but all they wanted was the recognition, so he failed. The arguments used by the discotute are specifically crafted to tempt uneducated authoritarian mindsets, in order to continue using them as a political block. it's worked wonders for them since the 1970s. Howard Ahmanson was one of the early funders of this kind of thing. I assume his estate is still heavily funding it. the people in charge of the con are NOT stupid. they are evil conmen.
See also Hitchens v Douglas Wilson. Wilson is a flaming authoritarian fundagelical, and Hitchens WENT ON TOUR with him, and they MADE A MOVIE of it. I was disgusted. That's one of the steps in my recognition that New Atheism was a grift.
So then how does one define sex? it could be said that it is strongly bimodal to the point of practically being binary, but 99% of the time is probably just more useful to treat it as binary instead of overcomplicating it. We bend and twist gender however we wish because it is a social construct, but not sex.
The convenience of simplifying it might be nice for you, but it's horrible for those experiencing that non-binary condition, especially since the complacency of the majority allows them to pretend they "practically" don't exist.
I don't know, but H4 acetylation is a precursor to replication. The main point of the figure is that the H4 acetylation becomes discordant in older twins.
This should be required viewing for the gender-fixed-at-conception/birth folks. No, it doesn't address this topic directly and yes, very few will have the scientific chops to grasp much of the argument but the obvious fact of cytological/developmental/environmental (not just genetic) variability contributing to the individual pre and post birth might make some impression.
I may have mentioned this before, somewhere else/some other time... I once got to see a jumping spider steal little morsels of whatever the fire ants where carrying. It was hanging out just above their trail, on a wooden fence, and would shoot down and accost an ant, taking away whatever it had in its possession, then shoot back up, out of reach of their ire. The ants didn't know what hit them. The spider did this about 4 times, in the space of a half hour or so. Good stuff.
Cells are as real as covaids and dinosaurs. This video is so rediculous showing artistic renderings of fake cells and nerves. Anyone who know better knows to read Gerald Pollocks work to confirm all of Ling
The thing that's most amazing about biology is how aggressively it refuses to do binaries. There's nothing in biology that's either-or, everything is maybe-most-of-the-time-but-never-always. Almost as if life is the product of billions of years of random chance and natural selection.
Interesting stuff. So, quite simply, my DNA is not what I was born with ;) (I know that's being overly simplistic, but it is interesting to see how it shifts and actually changes with age)
I get why science-fiction authors like Neal Stephenson (»Seveneves«) or Scott Sigler (»Nocturnal«) use aspects of epigenetics and chromosomal variation for their stories as a plot device so effectively. It sounds like fiction to most people who didn't get any education beyond flowers, bees, and which sex has which dangly bits.
Very interesting. Aside from the obvious connotations this has in our modern world - is there a possibility that this sort of thing has a role to play in the extinction - whatever that means - of species throughout history?
They don't care if you convert. They don't believe for a second that you will convert. They're contacting you in order to "do battle with Satan" in order to score brownie points with their god.
My money says that this message is going to benefit more believers than it dies nonbelievers. God uses all types of people and situations to make His message clear to those that have ears to hear . So I say thank you and God bless you.
@PZMyersBiology every time His people, the Jews , got fat and happy and proud the turned their backs on God . He got their attitude by letting something bad happen to them . Pharoah took them into slavery. So did the king of Syria. Bad guys for sure. Israel also had some evil kings to rule over themselves. This is not hate . Sometimes God gotta show the big brains that He knows best . People are no different now than thousands of years ago . Pain is still an effective teacher . ( still ain't hate ) Sometimes we gotta tell the kids " NO " ! Sorry. Cheap phone like to insert it's own words .
@@richdorak1547 The Israelites (not Jews) were never enslaved in Egypt. Only the Israelite leaders were taken to Babylon, it was there that they were infuenced by Zoroastrianism and what would become known as Judaism began to evolve. The Bible is not the only record of that time. Egyptian and Babylonian records and archaeology show that the Bible is a load of horseshit. "Pain is an effective teacher." I bet you use that bullshit attitude to justify the genocide in Palestine.

the other thing religion and crypto have in common: the best way to get them to stfu is to lie and say you've invested your time and money elsewhere (another church, synagogue, or blockchain)
