You should do away with the turbo and put a pro charger on that thing because that thing would be ignorant because people already don’t respect them cars. Everyone thinks they’re slow and they’re really not they’re impressive for a four-cylinder and if you didn’t wanna go with a pro charger, I would put like an 88 millimeter Is a little big but that motor can handle it because I had an 89 Pacifica that we took a motor out of a 91 dodge shadow turbo which was a 2.5 L and we put 2 60 mm but I can’t remember what the brand was. It was a little bit of a pain in the butt to put it in there, but we got them in there and cut holes was kind of shitty but was crazy crazy fast. That thing was a fire breathing machine my buddy had a 1996 supra with a 2jz in it and he had one single 88 mm turbo I didn’t beat him, but he couldn’t get away from me. I wasn’t on his bumper, but I wasn’t 10 cars away from him. I was at least three or four car links behind him.

In that vacuum leak is probably them stupid rubber elbows then things are so trash. That is one of the stupidest things they put on them cars instead of using just regular fasteners they use rubber elbows, which are garbage and sometimes when you’re building boost, they’ll blow off and cause it’s run like crap and that could be why It’s idling high and they say they only have 140 hp which I don’t believe. I believe it has 210 at least because I’m cars will throw you into the seat definitely fast and I seen somebody smoke damn GMC typhoons and that car will smoke a grand international because four cylinders are extremely impressive

And CVT transmission fluid and ATF transmission fluid work pretty good if you mix them together depending on how thick it is, but I had a 1989 Daytona, Pacifica and the coolest thing about the one I had is I had. I’m pretty sure it was the iroc or the Z body kit that I took off a stock one had to flip up headlights. It was lime green, and it was the coolest little car ever we put a little bigger turbo on it, and it got almost 300 hp to the wheels. That thing was like a dang go kart to be honest I love them cars. It was my first car when I got my drivers license.

If that’s the 2.5 L, there’s a cool safety feature in that motor if it was to jump time even with the pistons all the way up in the vowels all the way open the Pistons will never touch the vowels because that is an awesome feature because then things do jump time if you do not pay attention to the timing, but the safety feature is crazy because it’s thousands of an inch between the valves and pistons into all of the people that are going to say no no yes it is a fact if you look it up, it is a fact it’s impossible to bend on a 2.5 L Daytona motor and that’s a fact

He’s absolutely right mobile one marks up there brand for people that are willing to pay out the cash and sell same stuff as a more affordable brand-name which still makes them money! it’s a marketing gimmick. I would know I work selling mobile one products. There’s the farmer that wants quality oil and is willing to pay the premium price and there’s the farmer that wants an affordable product that just works! the same stuff all along. To test a bad intake plenum gasket remove the PVC hose from the intake and cap the port. Start the engine. Remove the oil filler cap and place thick paper over the valve cover filler hole to ck for vac. If vac is present the plenum gasket is bad. The purge valve in 2nd gens can be disassembled. I have seen 2x where the charcoal canister went bad and the purge valve drew charcoal bits into the valve, clogging it. Pop it open, clean, and blow out, then back together. ANd replace canister. But in your wandering idle and stalling case it sounded like a bad IAC valve. It's been 2 years, did you find the problem?
@TheMoparGarage
@TheMoparGarage 2 дня назад
@@steadyeddie7453 thanks for watching. I’d already done a plenum gasket at this point with a kit from Hughes engines. I’ve done every sensor. IAC, fuel pump, grounds, and a bunch of other stuff I’m sure forgetting. This is a weird one, I think it’s gotten better over the years but it’s still not right. I don’t believe I’ve checked the purge valve, might be worth looking into.
@steadyeddie7453
@steadyeddie7453 2 дня назад
@@TheMoparGarage The Hughes plenum kit with the machined aluminum plate is nice and definitely cures the gasket blowout issue. I think it is FelPro that makes a better than OEM gasket that also works, for those on a budget. The purge valve is programmed to cycle open at about 45mph, closed loop. But you can simply disconnect the hoses on it and plug the one with engine vac. Then take for a test ride.

The Daytona's looking great. Never heard of Shine Juice before but it seems to be pretty amazing stuff. I actually found 2 factory Goodyear Eagle GT tires for my 84' years ago on Ebay but have never seen any since. Goodyear actually has a retro line of Goodyear Eagles but they're rather pricey and unfortunately not in my factory size of P195 / 60 VR15's. Probably the first Daytona anyone has seen on the road in decades lol. I'll look forward to the progress on it.

I never had overheating problems with my Shelby. The only problem I had was random cable linkage spring clip retainers breaking; disconnecting the shifter and requiring a tow. Hopefully whatever retaining clips now available are more durable.

Good you could find tires. I doubt you will drive the car much, so it should be a few years before replacement. My Goodyear 225/50 VR15 tires didn't last many miles. Some suggestions: beware transitions between parking lots and streets as the front air dam can impact pavement if the nose dips too low. Also, people tend to park too close to the car; preventing opening the door wide enough to enter- requiring access via the rear hatch. You most likely won't park in public lots, but I mentioned it anyway. A shame I won't be able to view your daytona at car shows, but I live in Illinois. Enjoy your car! 😊
